Forexample i dontlike SMG/SMG2 games at all.

Automatically in my mind i can think of them as "Crap" or " overrated" but before i say whats in my mind i must find good/valid reasons why i think that. I can find excuses of " mario milkage" or whatever but in reality these are not strong reasons enough to say SMG/SMG2 a bad and ovverated game.... Simply because they deliver the best there is for their time... Period....

Now you see , i strongly beleive thats the same case with FF7 here...But nevermind, because as it seems our opinions are so different for this game ( as you said opinions ) that i wont see anything good come from it if we discuss it further.

Overrated: Star Ocean Series, FF7

Underrated: FF9, Baten Kaitos, Valkyrie Profile Series

It's not that FF7 is considered a good game that bothers me. It is a good game that I'm just not into. It's the near-god status that it gets from some gamers. I just don't understand it.

Everysingle site in the world thinks FF7 as a phenomenal game with many acclaims and awards all over...!!

I just want to hear valid points , specially from oldschool gamers that actually played this on its release why thinking it as the MOST OVERRATED ( caps to get my point ...) jrpg of ALL TIME..... Its a title isnt fitting for FF7 ( my opinion ).

Why you think im goin berserk?!! Oo If thats FF7 for you ( ovverated jprg )ok , but why? Because i can think 100 others JRPGsfor that title. Thats all!!!

Overrated: Mass Effect 2.. the game isn't really a RPG :x

Underrated: Alpha Protocol, with a bigger budget and more bug testing it would have been really really good, but it's just good and gets way too much flak for not having production values like Me2...

Overrated:

Oblivion, Fallout III, Demon's Souls, Fable, Fable II (yeah I listed all actron RPG's :P. I cannot think of a JRPG I played through that was hyped and I did not love)

Underrated:

Baten Kaitos, Baten Kaitos: Origins, Mario RPG Legend of the Seven stars, (both) Paper Marios, Skies of Arcadia, Diablo II (you cannot overrate diablo II :P)

BTW the overrated list was only of games I played most of or beat, I did not include games that I could not give a fair shake. But if I did I would say FF VII just because the game doesnt hold up as well as some on todays standards.

More than anything it's the person's fault really. Not really the game's fault if you hype the **** out of it.

I just saved everyone here a lot of time.

Overrated:

The Witcher. It may be that I need to press on but the bad combat makes me unable to complete Chapter 1.

Diablo 1/2. They just never did anything for me. For some reason I expect to enjoy D3.

Fallout 3. I'm just being **** because Oblivion with guns, albeit good, is nothing compared to 2 of the best crpg's ever made.

Underrated:

Planesc... On second thougth no. It's just underappreciated.

FF7... Everyone else seems to think it's overrated. That makes it underrated to me.

FF8.. The black sheep for many people. Why is beyond me.

Enchanted Arms. Ok, not really but it was the first HD jrpg I played so I enjoyed it immensely.

Overrated:

Final Fantasy VII - I don't hate the game; I just hate all the praise it gets. The battle system is basically the same as the previous FFs except that you can only use three characters in battles as opposed to four or five. The story had poor pacing, and there were some translation issues and horrific dialogue. Cait Sith was one of the worst characters ever. Cloud is not the best protagonist evar!! He's just your ordinary spiky-haired emo teenager who has amnesia and has no clue chicks dig him. Sephiroth is not the best villian of all time.

[spoiler] All he did was kill a flower girl behind her back! Kefka, on the other hand, poisoned rivers and sacrificed his man. Now that my friends, is a good villian. [/spoiler]

Star Ocean 3 - Terrible story, characters and dialogue.

Odin Sphere/Muramasa - Yes the visuals are nice and the story is good, but the gameplay is bland and boring. You only have two attacks, and the levels are basically the same. Once you played one level, you've pretty much played them all.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Unlike FFVII, I loathe this game. The story is dumb, the dialogue makes no sense and most of the dialogue is just gothic-poetry badness. Gameplay is pretty easy; all you have to do is press x. Zack even runs up to the enemy by himself! The DMW slot thing was pretty annoying since you had no control over it. It would activate itself every five seconds during a boss fight, so it felt like the game was the one fighting the boss.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2

From what I've played, I'd give most overrated to Dragon Age: it's the epitome of "meh". I'm not sure about underrated though.

Anything in the FF series, anything. As of lately, it's Demon's Soul's. It's a damn sacrilege that it even won GOTY here, especially over Dragon Age: Origins.

Underrated is def. Fallout 1/2/Planescape Torment, and Deus Ex. Probably because 90 percent of the Gamespot population has never played a PC game pre 2000.

Overrated: FFIV, FFVI, Skies of Arcadia, FFVII, Panzer Dragoon Azel, Suikoden II

Underrated: FFV, FFVII, FFVIII, FFXII, FFXIII, Xenosaga series (especially Ep. II), Persona 2 IS,

Can't think of anymore right now. Note that just because i put it in the overrated column doesn't mean I didn't like it.
