You mean the LBP for EU only? Yeah, thats about it. Everything else is tied to your sub to PS+...

Zune_HD

Sony said some content would be free forever. Either way irrelevant, I still proved my point. You guys should ask a lot more of Microsoft, it's this type of conformism that's led them to do so little even when they were making decent money.

Link? I feel fine with my gold subscription to XBL, as do millions of other users. I got MW2 on my 360 and PS3. I couldn't send invites on the PSN for the first week because of constant bugs, not to mention the mess that was Borderlands during launch. Both of which worked flawlessy on XBL at launch.

live actually has a lot of built in functionality for game services, things you do online will normally work better on live because of this.

Good for you. Then you should know that if you pay for PSN+ that you aren't getting anything involved with that for free right?

Eltormo

Let me destroy this argument again like i did with some similar ones.

PSN+ = $50 a year,get early access to demo,get discount on games,get some stuff that are 2 or 3 dollars,play PS1 clasics,play PS minis,play several games of PSN like wipeout,all this for a year.

You may or may not get what you pay for PSN+

Live gold = $50 for allowing a you to use the online multiplaying part of games ,which on PS3,PS2,DC,Wii,PC,PSP,DS,GC were always free.

You will never get what you invested in here.

Thats destroying an arguement? I can see that you clearly dont know what Live offers...

[QUOTE="EdenProxy"][QUOTE="Zune_HD"] What are "some" of the things that are free? Nothing's free if you're paying for it. From what I understand, every game that is currently free you have to keep your PS+ subscription.DroidPhysX

And if you want to keep playing online parts of your games you must keep paying for gold.

Who's denying that? For the most part, I see users (or a user) glorifying PS+ as a service that gives you free stuff...when infact you have to have a PS+ sub, which costs money....

You are still winning even we estimated the value of what you get for ur 50$, i am sure it easily exceeds the 50$ + the discounts .... PSN>>>>>>X360 value wise.

[QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"] Yeah, and Microsoft are such a great company disabiling everyones online unless they pay $50 yearly. Let's not even mention overpriced accessories like harddrives which you had to buy before the new models came out because Microsoft didn't allow 3rd party accessories to be used. Microsoft sure are great.Gamtrix

Or a $600 at launch gaming console. Let's ignore that right? Or $80 for a Wii chuck and Wii mote knockoff right?

Ya let's ignore the fact that they sold a 600$ console that cost them over 800 dollars to make. How greedy of them... LOL Dude you need to do your homework, your examples are helping my case. That's not how your supposed to argue :P

Your point? It was still the most expensive console at launch....which still doesnt help

Really why don't you make me a list of what live offer, take into account that Facebook, and Twitter are free on PSN,and that my PS3 has a browser, and last FM is also free on PC,and on PSN almost every one get the demo at the same time, until now that some demos not all are PSN+,unlike on live which that feature was on silver and then was strip and given to gold memeber in order to make them feel better about what they pay,now silver member have to wait a week.

Stop defending such a company? Yeah. Sony was such a GREAT company making its users with the PSP GO buy all of their games for their original PSP's all over again because of digital distribution. Don't make it compatible. Just make them buy it again.

Are you serious you want me to write your name on a piece of paper with the date put it in front of the 360 and send you a pic? Cause I could do that, it's just in the other room. Or are you going to continue stalking me asking for something else? If that'll end the stalking I'll do it.

Really so live Gold let you play game from the DLM for without playing for them,no ou get a demo,PSN has been doing discount for ages as well dude, way before PSN+,so you can play xbox clasic games with xbox live gold without paying appart for them?

Demos were strip from live silver and gave exclusive for the first week to gold member but it was not even part of gold,MS make it like that to make live look more of a value, which is not.

On PSN+ i can play PS1 clasics because i am paying to play games,on xbox live gold you pay to play online and had to pay extra to play games, see you can't just buy live gold and head into the market place and download free games to play.lol no dude.

MS has lost tons of money from the Xbox and 360 hardware as well, that's not really a good example. And where do they make it up from? Their software and...XBL, the online service that is deemed overprices and unnecessary by people here while Sony blatantly shapes PSN in a very similar manner to try and recoup some of the money that MS has been making this whole time.

That "Eyetoy" rip-off is far more advanced than the Eyetoy itself. The Move is a blatant ripoff, and will have no impact whatsoever.

MS has had it's problems with hardware, but many of the early PS3's are failing too with no warranty (i would know since I've bought nearly a dozen and fixed them for next to nothing) so no one is perfect. My point was that MS was not making money on the systems when the 360 launched either, so it's not as bad as sony losing $200 per system (which helped win the format war so it's really not that big of a deal) but it's not like MS pulled an Apple with 200% margin rips on their hardware.

ok so you guys know i'm a pretty damn cynical guy but you know what?

this part...

"We have a responsibility to continue to innovate on it. Part of that comes from what we owe to the consumer. Part of it comes down to the passion and the people I work with on a daily basis want to continue to innovate on this as well.

"We continue to innovate because we can and we know the consumer wants it.

i believe it.

normally i'd pick a crappy public relations statement like this to pieces but from day one of paying for xbl i have felt i have gotten my $$$ worth out of it.

it has evolved far beyond my expectations.

IMO hybrid gaming with a controller takes away what Kinect is supposed to be in the first place. Falling back on a controller when the biggest draw of Kinect is not having one means they should have just went Sony's route and made a Wii Mote. Kinect in it's purest form isn't going far with hardcore gaming but who knows maybe Microsoft or a 3rd party companywill prove me wrong.

Gamtrix

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/16/playstation-plus-games-expired/

from this link:

in about a month, people who purchased a 3-month subscription to PlayStation Plus will be faced with one crucial question. What happens to my games when my subscription ends? Joystiq had access to a press-only 1 month trial, and recently found out the answer. Sony's premium online subscription service has offered a number of "free" games -- full PSN games, like WipEout HD and Critter Crunch, and a variety of Minis and PSone ****cs. However, these titles were all made available with a caveat: they'd remain accessible for as long as your subscription remained active. Attempting to launch an expired game will trigger this prompt: "This content can be used if you renew the license in PlayStation Store." You'll be able to launch directly into the PlayStation Store, where you will be able to purchase the expired title. For example, we could purchase Aero Racer for its full price of $2.99 from the PlayStation Store. We could also choose to purchase a new PlayStation Plus subscription to extend the license.

by the way, thanks for the pic. pretty quick to get across the street and take a picture of your friends 360. why the hearts?

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/16/playstation-plus-games-expired/ from this link: n about a month, people who purchased a 3-month subscription to PlayStation Plus will be faced with one crucial question. What happens to my games when my subscription ends? Joystiq had access to a press-only 1 month trial, and recently found out the answer. Sony's premium online subscription service has offered a number of "free" games -- full PSN games, like WipEout HD and Critter Crunch, and a variety of Minis and PSone classics.

Anything you buy at discount is permanent.

I have no idea what this thread is even supposed to be discussing.

[QUOTE="savagetwinkie"][QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"] Sony overengineered the PS3 and were selling it at a LOSS not overpricing it. Second of all Sony paid the price by losing a ton of market share, billions of dollars and being in the red until just recently. That Wii knockoff will provide more of a hardcore gaming experience then Microsoft's evolved eyetoy ripoff so, myself and alot of gamers would rather have that.FlamesOfGrey

kinect has more potential though, much more flexibility in the long run if they did decide to add some sort of navigational controller.

IMO hybrid gaming with a controller takes away what Kinect is supposed to be in the first place. Falling back on a controller when the biggest draw of Kinect is not having one means they should have just went Sony's route and made a Wii Mote. Kinect in it's purest form isn't going far with hardcore gaming but who knows maybe Microsoft or a 3rd party companywill prove me wrong.

you can do everything + more on kinect you could make nearly identical games with move and kinect because they do the same thing with a camera almost, except kinect attempts to identify along with tracdking alot more, move is dumbed down to track colored balls... but they both need a navigational input, like a joystick to navigate 3d space. I really don't see a problem if they just had a small device with a joystick on it and everything else is gesture based.

edit: thinking about it, probably the only game that would work better that would be considered hard core on kinect is black and white. moving forward is simply grabbing the land and moving forward, all the movements in the game could be brocken down into hand gesters so it would be cool to see lionhead studios do it.

It is my friends, but he lives in the same house as I do. And once again terrible damage control. You didn't buy those games, you rented them. Any game you BUY, as in buying a game on Xbox Live, going to the store and purchasing you keep forever. You loose the ones that are part of the rental service. If a PSN or a PS+ member go to the PS Store and buy a game it's theres forever. This was explained day 1.

Yeah why would they let you keep content that you get for paying for the service? If you buy something with the discounts you get to keep it. It would be complete nonsense any other way.

It lacks buttons.

Even with a navigation controller, it would still lack buttons.

You could add a second controller with buttons.

But then you'd basically have Move with a better camera.

The future will tell everything but as of right now Kinect is looking like a casual parade with a drop of hope. Child Of Eden is the only game that looks interesting and worth playing with Kinect and it's not worth $150 for that IMO.

PS+ encompasses discounted games, themes etc. which you can purchase, as well as monthly titles that can be downloaded as a subscriber for no additional charge. There's probably other stuff I'm forgetting but that was the jist of it as far as I recall.

It would make absolutely no sense for them to give you games as part of the service, and let you retain them even if you stop subscribing.

its not damage control...i didn't know and i just received the correct information. why do you even insist on calling it "damage control." unlike yourself, i don't really try to push an agenda, and try to approach things with objectivity, rather than ally myself with an inanimate piece of plastic. and again, why the hearts? was that some sort of joke that i missed?

Wow you have no idea how it works, I kinda feel bad for PS+ haters, they don't even understand the concept of "free" stuff  It confuses them. ANYTHING you buy on PSN wheter or not your a PS+ member is your to keep forever. If you SUBSCRIBE to PS+ you get around 4 games a month, as well as some DLC and other content that'll acumulate every month as long as your a member to play. Understand?

Notice how I said free games,I already know you keep things you bought.Your whole post is..............far away from what I typed.

I understand the concepts of plus and have looked at all the content. I don't hate plus, it just doesn't have anything that interests me yet. Also, nothing involved with plus is free.

I get my PSN email once a week and I keep looking for a reason to get PSN+ and I have to say $5 off High Velocity Bowling isn't doin it. Neither is a free Nebula Tunnels theme or the free Aero Racer Mini game. This free stuff costs less than $3 and it's not even anything I would ever play or use. If people really want free garbage there is a dumpster out in the parking lot of my apt building and they can pay me $4 a month to go dumpster diving.
