[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"][QUOTE="cobrax75"][QUOTE="Wasdie"]OMG I can't wait. All of the parts of my new computer have come in today, except for the case (which is kind of an important part). I have a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2 gbs of ram, and a 8800GTS 640mb sitting here just waiting to be used for Crysis.cobrax75
why dont you just suspend everything in mid air with wires....lol
Why would you do that?it was a joke.
Yeah, I know.[QUOTE="dgsag"][QUOTE="Metroid_Time"][QUOTE="Lto_thaG"]The sweet thing is that Crysis will become a Trilogy so there will be a 2nd one and a 3rd one.

Jake Dunn could be the new Gordan Freeman in an epic trilogy.
If Crytek manages to pull off everything they've promised, I will enjoy this game even more than Half-life 2.
Heh I loved Far Cry and it seems like a tech demo compared to Crysis.
Really? Where have you played it?
Or are you just pre-judging a game based on screenshots and developer hype?
Crysis looks and sounds amazing. Not a single one of us has any idea if it will be any good yet. No game is a contender for GOTY until it's released and we have played it.
[QUOTE="tool_rage"]Well, that second image isn't actually DirectX 10, it's a mock up(photoshopped DX9 pic) of what it might look like if utilised properly in FSX.I wonder how much it'll change Crysis.
If it's this much of a difference:
DirectX 9
DirectX 10
I'll have to go Vista.
Harbadakus
Oh. That's pathetic. Thanks for educating me.

As incredible as Crysis sounds, every time I read about it the little voice in the back of my head says "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". Now before someone s***s on the coats about that, I'm still expecting the game to score AAA and be a serious GOTY contender. Its just it seems too good. pundog
We are all having that feeling, I think the game Technically will be great, but I dont have much hopes up for the Multiplayer because its unproven, but I'l have UT3 to fill that gap if it does fail ^^
See this is what I mean by when a new Crysis screenshot or article is published some hermits make a thread out of it and hype is GOTY or AAA. Crysis WILL NOT score lower than the 9.2 that Far Cry got. Mark my words. It will redefine what is expected of FPS games and raise the bar. I am willing to bet money that the game will also become very popular among professional gamers and will be accepted into CAL and CEVO play. Perhaps even CGS. With as good as this game looks and how well I know the game will do I predict that a year from now DirectTV will pickup this game just like they did CS:S and broadcast the tournaments.
Yeah, that sounds fun. :)I liked this part teh bestest!
"Yes, you can pick up, throw and even beat people with live chickens. You can pick up, throw and beat people with anything smaller than a car, and in this we include wheelbarrows, spades, tree trunks, grown men and even most of a car. At one point in our playtest we shot a man's helmet off, caught it, beat him to the ground with it, shot him again and dropped it on his body. "

Shh it's ok buddy, go play your console and calm down. I said the word "seems" its a qualifier for what I was trying to get across. I was arguing the point of hoping they would acheive all they had promised and said in comparison to what they have promised, a great game like Far Cry, seemed like a tech demo. I wasn't insinuating it HAS lived up to it's hype in fact I never once stated it would.
"Confirmed" apparently has a different definition in system wars than the rest of the world.
Confirmed
1. made certain as to truth, accuracy, validity, availability, etc.: confirmed reports of new fighting at the front; confirmed reservations on the three o'clock flight to Denver.
2.settled; ratified.
3.firmly established in a habit or condition; inveterate: a confirmed bachelor.
4.given additional determination; made resolute.
5.having received the religious rite of confirmation.

Do you honestly think Crysis is not a contender for GOTY? Last I checked any game can be a "contender" for GOTY, so there's nothing wrong int that statement. Had he said simply "GOTY confirmed", then you'd be right. :)

Yes. We know more about Halo 3 than we should. I know enough now that I know it is not a must buy. Before the beta and other information was released I would have said you MUST buy Halo 3 if you are a true gamer. Now I just can't say that. That said I hope Halo 3's single player surprises us, but somehow after Halo 2 I can't expect much.

Yes and you are free to judge Crysis by how Far Cry was.
Ready for my conspiracy theory? Totally unfounded, but here goes:
Crytek is paid off by ATI & NVidia every couple of years to make a game that pushes the limits of typical gaming systems. The result is huge wave of PC gamers hitting newegg, amazon, bestbuy...etc to upgrade their video hardware/ram/cpu/mob....etc.

1. Halo 3 = 9.4, I guess I'm cool with that
2. Crysis isn't the sequal to Far Cry.

There are alot of companies that push the edge, it's how they usually sell engines. The Cryengine 2 is the top dog of engines, much more so than UE3, but this is fairly obvious. What better platform to show off the best engine than on the PC?

True Crysis is not a sequel, but the same team made Far Cry so I have to assume that it will have some similar gameplay mechanics. Halo 3 could potentially get a higher score than Halo 2, but simply because they will be comparing it to other FPS's on Xbox 360. To judge Halo 3's GS score based on Halo 2 or even Halo 1 is inaccurate because that would be going cross platform. Higher scores does not always mean a game will be GOTY (Remember Half-Life 2?). Crysis however will be compared to all other FPS on PC so its chance of getting a good score is much less unless it is just amazing. As far as FPSs in general though I can tell you right now that Crysis raises that bar.

Halo 3 will be compared to BioShock and the Darkness, both of which both look like very good games. Maybe even Gears of War, since they are both shooters.

Halo has a hype machine behind it, and the reason why Halo 2 scored the way it did, which it clearly didn't deserve, heck even the developers said they were dissapointed. HL2 and Farcry were well above Halo 2 in terms of everything except a hype machine. Just read the PC review of Halo 2 for a PC FPS perspective. Having played both 1and 2, it's a mediocre shooter with a Juggernaut of a marketing machine behind it.
Halo is a money printing scheme by MS, it doesn't matter if it's mediocre, young maleswill buy it regardless which leads me to my next point. This man on man love of Master Chief is a bit disturbing if you ask me. Just because they are making a third one, does not in any way solidify a GOTY, it will have to be more than innovative in order to cap Crysis in my view.
Crysis is certainely an impressive game. No one can really dispute that. I don't want it really though. I wasn't a fan of Far Cry and they do seem very very similar to me. Plus... To get MY computer running that would take a considerable amount of money I just dont have.NewnabFar Cry was awesome! On PC that is. I wasnt a huge fan of the consol versions because they took out a lot of the free range to explore you got in the original game. Crysis looks great, but GOTY? If it is, it will be the game few get to play in its true form.
I cannot wait for those huge battles. I can already imagine it in my head: a huge, sprawling battlefield drenched in blood and alien goo - tanks and infantry all over, their weapons creating a cacophony of sound; a huge alien lifeform fires its weapon, a laser of sorts. The laser sweeps across the small army, obliterating everything in its path and leaving nothing but smoke and ash.
This game will be ****ing epic.

Bungie did not say they were dissapointed with Halo 2, they said they were dissapointed they couldn't do everything they wanted, such as make the mulitplayer better. Also, if Halo is so mediocre, then explain how Combat Evolved scored a 9.0 on the PC. FinallyHalo 3 isn't a 3 year old half-assed port.

That is exactly why they bought Bungie in the first place. It is a shame though cause the game was on track to be SOOOOO much better than what we ended up with on the Xbox. It is a shame more people don't know about what Halo was intended to be in the first place before Microsoft forced their time tables on Bungie.
No, no, no... this does not confirm contender, this confirms win!
Wow... 2gigs of RAM... yeah... PS3 and 360 are never going to see Crysis. Well, at least now I know how much money I will need for my new rig in the fall.
foxhound_fox
Yeah I caught that too. Console people need to realize that when they do see a CryEngine 2 game it will NOT look as good as Crysis. The amount of memory that these games use is crazy. Have you seen all the new tech coming out of IdSoftware? Carmack is talking about crazy amounts of texture memory and such being needed to produce the quality graphics he wants to achieve. I would not be surprised if Carmack and other devs like him cause the hardware companies to make a dramatic jump in performance.

I'm sorry, they weren't just dissapointed, they "screwed up".

Halo 1 was much better than Halo 2, that's not in question, and was also a long time ago. Halo 3 is going to have to find a way to get back to it's roots, and even then, it has an uphill battle with the rest of the other games slated for release this year.

Thats not entirely correct, Frankie came out about a week after and said he found that funny that people thought that. Bungie doesn't dislike Halo 2, they dislike they couldn't do everything they wanted.
Bungie Hates Halo 2
Of course we don't. We love it. Was it perfect? Of course not. This week, weirdly, a bunch of websites ran excerpts from a month-old interview with Edge Magazine where some Bungie staff expressed dissatisfaction with various game features in H2. Of course we did. We're always trying to improve it. Anyhoo, long story short, for some reason, we got quoted out of context as basically hating everything about the dear old game, when in fact we love it, and want to build on it.
The stout fellows at 1Up.com ran a story today with quotes from us explaining ourselves. You can read that HERE. And you'll be all like, "Aaaah, I get where they're coming from." Probably.

People judge Crysis on how FarCry was. Actually, they judge Crysis on how the FarCry ports were for consoles, which Crytek had no part in.
