Its sad that most people will have to play the dumb down version graphically. Also Cytec animation are way too rigid if the multiplayer plays anything like Far Cry than that just sucks. Rehashed story, rehashed abilites and uber graphics for the few..thats makes this game overrated and again nothing ground breaking as far as story or gameplay.

I thought I might have retired these threads a while ago... I guess I was wrong.
Have you played the game yet? If not, how do you know its content and if it is overrated or not?
There are completely new gameplay elements throughout singleplayer and multiplayer. If you actually spent some time reading up about the game instead of comparing it to Far Cry (the only thing they share is a jungle setting), then you might know these things.
And the "maxing specs" were unofficially released a couple days ago and I think are in this thread.
With all the other parts you are looking at a rig that will cost you around $1200-1400. Not bad considering most of those parts are going to be going down in price before Crysis comes out. The Intel chips will be going down by nearly 50% come July.
Those "uber-leet graphics" will be available to quite a few people thanks to Crytek optimizing the game extremely well.
Actually, you can get the 8800GTS for around $250, the E6600 is $223 at newegg (the price is going to drop A LOT in July, so if you're upgrading wait until then), and you can get 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 for $91 at newegg. All I need if I want to run it maxxed in DX10 is an 8800GTS and I'm set. I'll wait until Crysis comes out to buy one, considering it will be much, much less. I have an E6400, but I OC'ed it to outperform a E6600, so I'm definently good there. I can run it on high settings in DX9 if I don't want to get rid of my 7800GT.

I think you're just trying to stir up commotion for no reason, but I'll respond anyway.
- Scalability is a good thing in PC games. It doesn't force people to playthe game at aninferior quality, it allows more people to enjoy the game. - It's quite odd that you're basing the animations in Crysis on FarCry. Watch the latest tech demonstration video, it shows the animation system. - Multiplayer is completely different from FarCry. Once again, Crysis differs from FarCry in countless ways. - Even if many of the features in Crysis have been done before, Crysis improves on them, and combines them into a single game. - You have never played this game, sothere is no way you can say that the gameplay and story are bad.
That sure sounds amazing. I wonder if this will actually generate a new "generation" of fps. Most fps nowadays are pretty much the same with the same basic concepts. Painfully little has changed between a halo CE 6 years ago and fps nowadays. I hope crysis does something about this. 11Marcel

8800GTS my foot. 7900GS for $100 will do nicely without having to step up into 8800 territory. Sure, you wont get DX10, but then again, I dont have Vista anyway, and I dont plan on having Vista any time soon.
