@gpuking: sub full HD confirmed. Any game can use black bars to cut processing power. I have a 1080p wide screen TV, black bars are the last thing I want to see.
That's actually an idiotic thing to say, considering how many movies are in different cinematic aspect ratios.
1.33 = (bars, left and right - almost every movie before 1954)
2.35 = the standard aspect ratio for most films after 1954, so most films actually leave a 16:9 1080p TV with black bars top and bottom. This is true even today, where the aspect ratio of most movies doesn't exactly match the TV. Sometimes it does, but only TV shows seems to actually stick with the 1.78 ratio the majority of the time (which makes sense). But if you are watching Captain Phillips, or Hunger Games, or whatever movie on your TV... most likely it will have black bars.
Some films are also 1.66, and "epic" films go even wider, at 2.76 or sometimes other slightly variable ratios.

The developers here claim that they are trying to make the game run at a "cinematic" aspect ratio, I am not a fan of this idea. Maybe it will work, or maybe not. But with a video game, I'd probably prefer to just use as much of the screen as possible. I will reserve judgement for the final product. For me to accept it as an "artistic choice" in a video game, It better be a perfect technical presentation inside that wider aspect ratio.
