Looks very generic. Kind of reminds me of Fable II.aaronmullan
Errr, it's a fantasy RPG.
Maybe they should put it in Killzone or Gears environments. The masses would flock to it.

You just can't take people disagreeing with you can you? It doesn't look interesting to me either.THe previews say it's very similiar atmosphere and gameplay wise to first Gothic, which is good news.
And there's no danger of it getting xboxed because the developer isn't even touching 360 dev kit, the console version is farmed out to separate company
I see nothing to hype from the screens shown.... it just looks okay... but nothing really extaordinary.
And whats with the GUI.... it looks so bland.... Diablo has a better GUI and its how many years old? 15 or more?
I realize the game isn't finished yet.... but dang.
why? You have jRPG sig and avatar and those action-rpgs are far more of an rpg than jRPGs areIt being a Action WRPG ruined any hype I could ever have for it.

Sauce? If true, that's friggin awesome, and the game becomes a must-buy for me. I was already thinking of buying it anyway, since, y'know, it's Piranha Bytes.

I'd bet heavily that you've never played Fable II.... or at least not longer than 10 min.

Wow, I've never seen any table top RPG with real time combat, it's all been turn based.. You can hook me up with some if you know of any..
Anyways, you seem to be assuming that JRPG = Final Fantasy clone.. JRPGS like:
Etrain Odyssey 1/2
The Dark Spire:
Cl4ss Of Heroes, etc, etc.
Are more RPG then any action WRPG I've seen.
you seem to be mistaking every action rpg for Diablo clone. Gothic games or Witcher were also action-rpgs, yet they were heavier on roleplaying than majority of normal wRPGs and any jRPG, including yes..Etrian Odyssey (which has about as much roleplaying as Diablo did)Wow, I've never seen any table top RPG with real time combat, it's all been turn based.. I'm not mistaking them as Diablo clones, I'm mistaking them as action games.. I just can't get the feel of "your playing an action game" out of my head when I play them, thus I dislike them. No clue what you call roleplaying, but I honestly think if it resembles tabel top RPGs it's a RPG, unless it's something like a tactical RPG.
well..the mechanical side of tabletop RPGs was taken from strategy games to be honest, so judging solely by turn-based combat isn't enough. You say you feel lijke you're playing an action game, but the same could be said about Etrian Odyssey, you often feel like you're playing a tactical wargame not RPG. Combat style alone isn't enoughI'm not mistaking them as Diablo clones, I'm mistaking them as action games.. Och..and there actualy are tabletop RPGs with real-time combat, like Riddle of Steel, plus there are also LARPS :)

Well, I don't only take combat, I generally try to do all the common game mechanics. Also, did you call Etrain Odyssey a Tactical RPG? It's a dungeon crawler :s.
But, let's just end it as "WRPGs and JRPGs aren't any less of a RPG then the other", no point in posting in this thread about this.

Turn-based dungeon crawlers and tactical RPGs are very similiar, in both most of what you do is fight fight and fight. Both are similiar to tactical wargames in this matter as their combat isn't much different from a wargame. Plus there are tabletop wargames that are essentialy dungeon crawlers like Warhammer Quest

how come? Both are cave/underground based and concentrate mostly on fightingHopefully the combat is a little more streamlined in this one. If they can do that then this will be a week one purchase for me most likely. I'd say it gets AA.

Also, the fighting mechanics differ from dungeon crawlers, and in most dungeon crawlers you have to go in, fight, go out, buy items/heal, and repeat.. No Tactical RPG that I've played has that mechanic.
Small difference. In most tactuical RPGs you still do need to visit shops and buy gear. Dungeon Crawlers and tactical rpgs aren't separate subgenres, dungeon crawl is a flavor of RPGs, you can just as well have dungeon crawling action rpgs as well as dungeon crawling tactical rpgsAlso, the fighting mechanics differ from dungeon crawlers, and in most dungeon crawlers you have to go in, fight, go out, buy items/heal, and repeat.. if you think they look similiar then it's Witcher/NWN2 and Fable that are the wannabes not RisenLooks like a wannabe Witcher/NWN2/Fable hybrid.
Tiefster
So basically your just going to say a bunch of other wrpg games and say they look the same. Why not just add in Edler Scrolls, Two worlds and so on also. I guess if you want to be that general you can do the same for any type of gaming.Looks like a wannabe Witcher/NWN2/Fable hybrid.

Also these are the developers that did Gothic so by your thinking all those games are clones of this developers style since Gothic game out before all of the ones you mentioned.
This is by Pirhrana bytes yes?
Spiritual successor to Gothic 3?
I'm interested, pity its *banned in my damn country*
Thanks flawed classification board.
skrat_01
Banned? the heck why? Whats so bad about the game? Which country is this anyway?
Back to topic : If its made by the old devs of Gothic 1/2, then thats just awesome! I hope it is as good as G1/G2 were, if not better.
Knowing Piranha Bytes though, their games are...usually a lil...buggy. But its usually overshadowed by the awesome storyline/world/gameplay.
