We have yet to see...well almost anything really.
No towns, NPC's, method(s) of transportation, and more have been shown, whichi comprises most of what makes Zelda games so special. So heres to hoping all those things come together nicely :).

It's really hard telling where this story is headed. All Zeldas kinda have a dark tone, even WW did at some points. Looking at it, I would say that it's gonna be about as dark as Ocaina of Time. Darker than WW, but lighter than TP and MM. The premise doesn't sound that dark so I really doubt it will be darker than TP or MM, but hey, you never know.
This siggable in a fantastic way. Bravo sir/ma'am :D.I believe this reaction is more akin to what would happen if Link was switched with Hitler for main character, the entire game took place in the Temple of the Ocean King, and the companion character was Navi possessing the body of Tingle.

I think the trailer could have focused less on the combat. Regardless, I'm glad to see they're using the Wii's motion capabilities to solve puzzles and whatnot.
I hope I live to see the day when Nintendo has the cajónes to make this Zelda game:

Link looks like too much western for my taste. :(
I don't like the look of Ganon at all. However that's a cool art direction, I'd like to see a Zelda game with graphics like that in regard to painting methods, not the way they look.I hope I live to see the day when Nintendo has the cajónes to make this Zelda game:

That certainly looks interesting, but TBH, I'm kinda dried out on those types of games. I love the ****SS is going for right now. I have no objections whatsoever.

15 years ago, that made my hair stand on end. This was the magnificent 3D Zelda game that I knew I had been waiting for since I played Link to the Past on my NES. It was the stuff childhood dreams were made of... The kind of stuff that made me proud to be a Zelda fan.
The Skyward Sword trailer does none of that for me. It's just a flashy little mishmash of bland clips of an emotionally flat looking game, set to a mechanical musical piece. There's no sense of enchantment, danger, grandness, or any of the stuff that got me pumped for Ocarina of Time when I first saw it. I know those are some very high expectations to live up to, but if anything can do it, it should be a Zelda game. I know it can be done though, because there's another trailer that came out recently that DID remind me of that feeling I got when seeing that Zelda trailer for the first time. Except it wasn't for a Zelda game:

Why do you keep on comparing SS to Skyrim? They are two very different games, not even from the same genre. Not the same genre, but they have similarities. Technically Gears of War is a shooter and Uncharted is an adventure game, but they have enough in common that comparisons are warranted. These are both fantasy games that involve exploring a big world, finding caves and other nooks and crannies that contain treasures, entering dungeons and finding special items, etc. In many ways the recent Elder Scrolls games have felt a lot like spiritual successors to the original Zelda on the NES, if the series had evolved in a different direction than what Ocarina of Time moved it in. The biggest difference is that Oblivion has stat and inventory management and Zelda has puzzles, but that's pretty much the only reason they are not in the same genre.[QUOTE="Timstuff"]

I agree with this. Every Zelda trailer has been too epic for me to handle. They always show the immense world you'll explore showing the overworld, towns, characters, your parter, puzzles and small segments of gameplay. They show off really huge intimidaing bosses as if they're about to just smash on link all with an incredibly epic song in the background.
The SW trailer is just boring. No huge world or overworld just glimpses of boring wii motion plus gameplay and no huge intimidating bosses, no epic landscapes, no towns, just some items being used and him fighting and the song was boring too.
Ok it is not the best trailer for a Zelda game, and it certainly is lacking in terms of excitement and variety (not showing anything outside the new combat style and a glimpse on the new puzzles to expect). However, so far, I'm a happy happy Zelda fan and I'm really excited about the game. I think there are going to be a considerable amount of new concepts/ideas/etc that are going to make this game feel like a new game while still retaining the Zelda feel and style.
Maybe it is this: in the past, they used to show more information in the Zelda trailers (which made them much more exciting for fans) than this one to highlight what to expect from the game. However, maybe they are trying to keep things secret this time in order not to have their ideas stolen (or they still are finalizing some concepts) and then deliver an excellent end product. I guess what I'm trying to say is: don't judge a book by its cover :)

Funny you say the haters are becoming predictable...Just like Zelda is. I used to be a huge fan, Hell I still pop in LTTP and OoT from time to time just because they are so good. But this game just looks bad and the motion controls made it even worse. All the puzzles in the trailers had something to do with swiping the controller in some way. That gimmick would last about an hour as someone else already said. I was intending on picking this up but after that trailer I guess my Wii will continue to be the most expensive paper weight in my house.

the combat looks really bad :| i mean ive never played a zelda game b4.. but that looked awful (the COMBAT i mean...not commenting on anything else)campzor
The combat has always been simple in Zelda games but always fun, i don't have any doubt that this time it will be the same, and i think, the stuff with the vertical or horizontal slashes will only be against certain enemies, so don't worry, the game will be as amazing as always.

This is an unfair comparison. The OoT trailer you posted was a commercial trailer, created to be played for a mainstream audience. The SS trailer is really just for people who are following the game's development to get a taste for what it will be like and how the game's creation is progressing. I personally doubt it will be showing on TV or in movie theaters.
I'll give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt and wait and see how they advertise the game before I dog on them for what amounts to 2 trailers of a one-minute gameplay montage.

First of all, Uncharted is NOT an adventure game.
And no Zelda plays very differently from Oblivion and Skyrim. Zelda is an action adventure game while Oblivion is an Action RPG that does everything poorly and nothing well. Sure they both have their emphasis on exploration. Difference being Zelda has the player explore a variety of areas while fighting enemies that take different tactics to beat while in Oblivion you explore the same dungeon over and over again with no reward for exploration because all loot and enemies are scaled to your level.
Umodded Oblivion is one of the worst games I have ever played, combat was lousy, roleplaying was even worse than the roleplaying in Mass Effect series and the exploration was pointless. Skyrim looks equally terrilbe with even less skills, a skill menu that looks downright clumsy, environments that so far look really bland (seen nothing but forests and snowy forests so far) and no classes. Bethesda hasnt made a good game since Morrowind.
Just because a trailer does not SHOW the epic towns, exploration, other characters, methods of transportation, and so forth, DEFINITELY doesnt mean that the game doesnt have that stuff. Ninty simply isnt making the right trailers to get all the people excited. I guarantee you we will eventually see the world and all its awesome areas and inhabitants, with tons to do.

There is a lot more to hype up regarding Skyrim, so far we still have very little information about Skyward Sword. We know that it is a prequel to OoT and we have been promised that it will shake up the formula a bit. But overall Nintendo have been very discreet about Skyward Sword.
I thought the trailer was ok personally, however it did not answer a lot of my questions. :(
It's really sad how Zelda fans here are easily impressed. That was terrible.
SwagSurf
I thought it was GOOD, not GREAT, but the reason it excites me is because I KNOW what the rest of the game will be like, and that is, awesome! Nintendo have never let me down and this trailer simply isn't showing most of what makes Zelda games great, so I have complete faith that at E3 or whenever, we will see a trailer that does indeed show this stuff and proves the game will be awesome, as all the other Zeldas were.
I don't understand the point of complaining about the combat in this game. It looks much better than other Zelda games.

lol exactly, which is all that has been shown really. Do people honestly think they are only going to have this combat and no open world, exploration, NPC's to talk to do and do stuff and so on, all with great music and a few awesome scenes? The Zelda games always have had this stuff, so they are just showing off what makes a Wii Zelda unique, and I think the motion looks great so far.

I expect that kindof trailer to be shown at E3 not GDC.
GDC isnt about showing epic long trailers to my knowledge. It is about focusing on an element of the game and that is why it is the developers conference, not E3. Mortal Kombat showed off its new Challenge Tower (AWESOME!), Epic showed off their new engine, and Skyward Sword is simply showing off its motion controls. E3 will have a nice beautiful trailer and more info on the 25th anniversary project :).
blowing up a low quality screenshot? man the haters really are desperate :?ShinobishyguyAgreed. Plus that wasn't even its best trailer. This one was too short compared to the other ones (that actually showed more epic gameplay)
It certainly wasn't terrible. And as someone who likes the inclusion of WM+, I'm glad to see the variety of uses they are trying to make for it. I just think it wasn't that impressive because it was essentially just a brief montage of clips showing things we're already aware of (the direction of the sword swipe will be essential to defeating certain enemies). The only things that really stood out to me were the "bosses" near the end and the new character to appears to be some kind of villain. But even then we only got a taste and no real explanation. It's ridiculous to assume anything about the game based on these short teasers, although that's largely Nintendo's doing. It's really sad how Zelda fans here are easily impressed. That was terrible.

I can sort of agree with that, although I think they are sorta of limited at GDC, but again I do agree. I think at E3 they will put a much better one together, or so I hope :P.
