[QUOTE="MirkoS77"]What will it take from Nintendo to NOT make all their apologists come out in droves? I swear, no matter what they do, people defend it. Where has any semblence of objectivity gone?Maroxad
But this is not necessarily a bad move, it could turn out terrible but it could be a move that is easily for the better as well.
All we know is that they are restructuring how they will present games on E3. Whether this new method turns out better or not has yet to be seen. What we do know is that it should be easier to cherry pick what we want to see. With the stuff dedicated to investors now being easily skippable.
Jumping to conclusions is not a wise move. Wait and see.
Someone's post on NeoGAF caught my feelings perfectly and put it quite eloquently:"It doesn't really matter if Nintendo's alternate approach to E3 ends up making sense on paper--it's that it's too easy for people to accept the most obvious narrative because it plays perfectly into a  widely-accepted view of Nintendo".
This is what it's about. Â A large percentage (both in the media and gamers alike) currently hold a widely-accepted view of Nintendo, and it ain't positive. Â People can keep saying it makes sense from a business perspective, that a PC is a waste time and money, NDs are just as good, but the most crucial part of this entire decision is how it will be viewed by everyone. Â Like it or not, there's a huge degree of anti-Nintendo sentiment floating around bred by many questionable decisions Nintendo's made as of late. Â People are wondering and a bit worried about them.
Many will (and are) getting the impression that Nintendo's unsure of themselves and are insulating themselves further from the competition by doing this. Â Simply put, despite the fact that they more than likely will have numerous great games to show, that they will display it in such a minimalist manner reeks of insecurity, doubt, and defeat. Â I keep reading comments all over that enforce this feeling, and I feel it myself. Â It is the last thing they need right now. Â They should be out in the open pounding their chests like crazy with mad confidence and aggressiveness.
Again...games really have nothing to do with it at all. Â It's the perceived message Nintendo is sending at a time when people desperately need serious reassurance that they're giving it their all, and skipping a PC to do streaming, closed door events and demos is not going to convey this as well. Â Nintendo is making a serious error. Â
