Nintendo will be just fine and sometimes taking a hit on the chin can be a good learning lesson. Nintendo does an amazing job making games, one of the best at doing it. They just need to open there eyes a little and make more genre of gaming. What I mean is I don't want them to stop making Mario and Zelda games. I will take a sequel to one of those any day over new IPs. But that does not mean they can't make new IPs also. HarlockJC
I like Nintendo how they are currently. I wish they'd hire a lot more devs so they can pump out core titles more often.
I remember reading this somewhere apparently Nintendo has a couple more billion dollars than the entirety of Sony, but I can't find the article anymore[QUOTE="ugoo18"]
That article and any other article that says that is misinformed, if anyone is likely to go the way of Sega by then it's Sony. Nintendo is worth more financially that all of Sony (Not just it's gaming division but the entire Sony Corporation). They could take multiple bad gens and still be in a stable position because they always make a profit. The GCN might not have been as successful as Nintendo's home consoles usually are but they still made a hell of a profit, how many more PS3 gens could Sony take.

in market worth? a few years (before their recent woes) yes they were worth more than aony as a whole. but that really does not not mean much.
Nintendo has obviously catered too much to the casual game market. That's a reason I sold my Wii because the games on there were just pitful . It seems like they cared more for the casuals than the hardcore. You hardly see and good games that come out on it.

I have about 30+ games on the Wii. Hardly see good games come out? That's not true.
You must have had a lot of money to play all the good games that quick. I haven't even got a SMG game yet :P But I agree with you, Nintendo did cater too much to the casuals.Nintendo has obviously catered too much to the casual game market. A lot of devs don't like being pigeon-holed into what Nintendo expects.
No blood, no gore, no multiplayer shooters...and definitely no swearing, but still popular with hardcore and casual audiences alike.
It takes a creative genius (former Rare, Retro Studios, Intelligent Systems) to pull titles like that off successfully, especially in this COD-obsessed era.
I don't understand this notion at all.
The reason the 3DS has slow sales is because there isn't that much software out for it.
Not to mention the Price Point and such but I'm pretty sure the 3DS has already done a lot more sales wise than any product Sega has put out in the past.
Wii lost the console war this gen sorry.Nintenndo will live.Anything made by nintendo sells.[QUOTE="austi722"][QUOTE="DJ-Lafleur"]
I laughed at the part where they thought Nintendo was doomed.
Bith the Wii and DS were huge successes. The wii won the console wars this gen. The GBA is probably one of the best-selling handhelds ever. Once the 3DS gets pokemon and Mario Kart and the usual stuff I'm positive it will be successful as well.
Nintendo will be fine.

Wait a minute, what? :?
I countered him with saying the Wii lost since he said it won.Though the gen isn't over yet.Not until the next consoles are releasedhttp://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/25/nintendo-profits-fall-66-in-fiscal-year-3ds-sells-3-61-million/
I've also read further articles that stated if Nintendo Sales don't pick up for 3DS, and do very well for the new Wii-U when it releases then Nintendo could very well be just a software company by 2013.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that but only time will tell, looks like the 3D gimmick of 3DS was a bad move, lets hope this new so called interactive controller for the Wii-U is a much better gimmick, otherwise i think Nintendo isn't long for hardware production.
Slimmin360
Nintendo would go out of business before they go software only. but it's true, seems a lot of people are starting to or have already lost love for Nintendo. They have great ideas for consoles, but good exclusive games are few and far between.

...what? All the Wii had was exclusives since multiplats would have to be built almost entirely from the ground up.
I wouldn't mind if Nintendo became 3rd party and it would probably mean they would be required to inovate there games and release new Ip's to sell on those consoles.
I mean it's my dream to have a full cinematic zelda (Without link speaking) on an HD console.

then buy a wiiU
[QUOTE="funsohng"]3DS has not been in a holiday season yet. I think it's still too early to write it off.clone01And Nintendo is a lot like apple in the sense that they'll re-design and re-release.
this is wha i dont get nintendo can cut the price and redesign it if it was truly failing...they have that plan b luxury
Um... no.
Not even close.
Do you even understand the severity of and the sheer number of bad business decisions SEGA made? Protip: They were bad, and there was a lot of them. And this went on for years before they finally couldn't afford to stay in the hardware business.
Nintendo makes a profit on every piece of hardware they sell. They're not going anywhere.
Pretty much. More competition=better but i really don't want Nintendo to bring another stupid *innovation* and see every other console follow...no nintendo=better.I wouldn't mind Nintendo going software only. I dont buy their consoles anymore.
Fizzman
Nintendo lost a ton of money on the N64 and the Gamecube right? So if they still had a third shot and were successful I think both would have to fail pretty hard to hurt Nintendo. The 3DS is poised to make a gigantic profit, with over 3 million sold I feel confident that they've made 300 million off that beast so far. That's a lot of money! But that's what happens if you price your system to make $100 profit per unit.
Pretty much. More competition=better but i really don't want Nintendo to bring another stupid *innovation* and see every other console follow...no nintendo=better. Yeah, less consoles on the market would totally be better.[QUOTE="Fizzman"]

lol dont even bother 3ds has sold more then that it sold 3.86 million the first month in usa alone its whole shipment was gone lol so dont even try pulling that
also nintendo is still making profit and hello they have all declined this year thanks to obama! and people not having jobs lol you expect sales to go through the roof sorry - youll wait , just like ds
ya remember that dont ya
no good launch games except a port of a n64 title, did not pick up substantial sales until 2005- with the release of mariokart ,, nuff said
and nintendos making profit off each 3ds ds wii they sell , they are not like sega in any way sega was struggling! how is nintendo close to that lol , if its already got 3 million according to you- dreamcast or saturn only had 10 million in thier life time!
how is 3 million in 3 months as bad as sega ya i dont get you pal , to be sega pft, you have to sell less then 100 k each month , and 3ds has sold more then that each month lol sega ya did not think so and that ten million is a world wide figure for the dreamcast in 2 years lol , on the market if 3ds reaches ten less then 2 you will have some excplaining to do , oh and sega saturn was a 3 years old platform that only sold 10 million so lets up the stakes shall we ,
and lets not forget what did sega have to fall back on when the dc flopped-nothing
nintendo has ds and wii to fall back on stil today lol selling rather good to to add to the 3ds which that site and you believe is like sega i dont think so ,

Why should a casual buy a 3DS for games when they have their phone?
That's a problem the Vita is going to have as well. Its the handheld's biggest enemy.
That's why its aimed at the younger audience, the once without smartphones. (I know count is even dwindling these days  )
Not entirely. There have been mature games announced too. I'd say they're aiming it at everyone, not just the younger audience.
what ? i didnt know ps3 ports were counted as a core title where as 3ds has these resident evil mercenaries driver renegade mariokart luigis mansion 2 zelda oot pilot wings splintercell ghost recon , ridge racer asphalt rayman super mario bros 3d-coming , mgs 3-coming , starfox -coming , ya pal those aint hard core enough -- haah you fail , we played those games since snes -ps1 era -re etc , so i dont see how their not core! keep trying lets not forget vita will have to deal with launch where as 3ds has already passed that phase with flying colorsnintendo doesnt care about the generation that grew up playing nes,snes,n64 anymore. They're now focused on getting my grandma and some 3 year old playing games.WAHAHAHAHAHAWA
They are trying to aim for everyone this time. At E32011 theytold everyone that they failed at making the Wii a system that can aleastplease both the hardcore and the casual groups. They are aiming to do that for the WiiU.
