Actually, wasn't the end of Sega's console career mostly due to Sony?PannicAtack
EA got the coffins ready, and murdered Sega
Then Sony came along and nailed the lid on it.
Well of course it had 61% of the Market the Genesis came out in Japan in 1988, North America in 1989, and the rest of the World in 1990.um...no?

The SNES was released in Japan in 1990, North America in 1991, and the rest of the World in 1992.
So it had a two year advantage in all markets.

Then Nintendo did it all themselves

I was thinking of preordering at Wal-Mart since it might be cheaper since my mom works there and she would get a discount on all electronics.

Sega got the coffins ready, and murdered Sega (R.I.P. My sweet suicidal angel).
And Nintendo will be next (Burn in hell with you're gimmicks and terrible games).

Oh my, and me thinking it was the PS2 that "destroyed" Sega back in the days but thanks to TC enlightment now I know it was the Gamecube after all... silly me
tsk tsk
[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]Actually, wasn't the end of Sega's console career mostly due to Sony?LiquidAjaxNope. In some ways it was. When Sony came out with the PS2, they overstated how powerful the PS2 was when compared to the Dreamcast. They led people to think they were getting this much more powerful game system then they were. They were less than truthful when it came to the numbers. I really don't care for Sony has a company so well I think competition is good, I don't mind seeing someone else replace them. No this is not of the reasons why I don't care for Sony that much, just giving information on the history of the systems.

Nope.
It was Sony that destroyed Sega. Nintendo had virtually nothing to do with Sega's downfall.
Genesis got destroyed.LiquidAjax
lol @ listing n64 gc as examples, they may have not sold the most but in terms of profitability they were dead even with ps2 ,and ps1 and look at gameboy , at least nintendo had something on top of the charts , what does sony have in place of the last place ps3 ? cant be psp because that failed to sell past the ds ,
you know what that means --- using gc and n64 as examples of lost products , is void because of 1 thing---profit , scratch that 2 things , innovation and profit
see the analog on your beloved ps1 controllers and rumble , those 2 things alone were done on n64 first during that gen before making their way on ps1 in 1998 .
you may hate nintendo for all their worth but there is no denying that when they dominate they can do so in many different ways ---be it the gameboy , or the home console and even when they sell less then competition theirs still room for them to make the same if not more profit then their competitors so in the end they still win,
they are not going to beat their chest and shout at the competition like others do , that is a known fact in fact theyll sit down and admit to their wrong doings and fix them -eg 3ds any one i still havent seen sony fixing vitas problems ,
and you may need to look at history again poster above me , --- genesis was out sold by the snes , the snes continued to sell into the 32 bit era
NINTENDO HAS a history of destroying competition. LiquidAjaxNintendo also has a history of being destroyed by the competition.
