Nintendo officially delays BotW2 past 2022

As pretty much everyone expected, the BotW sequel is no longer listed as a 2022 game.

And yes, that is seriously Switch's entire lineup this year, including multiplats. Sad.

I keep telling you, this game is not releasing until the new system. They are going to repeat what they did with the Switch (also the Wii) and make it a launch game.

Wouldn't suprise me at all.

Metroid Dread. The next and last Switch game to get, I guess. Doubt they'll release MP4 in a near future either. Holy shit, Nintendo dropped the ball.

This is old news mate, they stated in the video they were aiming for 2022. This thread needs locked, we already knew this during e3.

That is what happens when 1- you have no competition. 2- when you release lazy as **** cash grab from five plus years ago, charge the full price like it was a brand new game, and everyone buys it by the millions. Why bother even trying when the system prints them money without even doing anything? We've seen this laziness from Sony, now its Nintendo's turn.

Switch is the one system I feel like no wish what so ever to get. The ouput is abysmal. But they do make Zelda. Buuuut now it’s delayed.

Why would it flop? Nobody is in the mobile space (for gaming). Switch 2 will be a hit, its not even a matter of "if". I expect it to have a native 1080p screen, so they'll be porting everything from the Switch (720p games) to a 1080p system and call it new. Btw, its gonna be $60 again, and don't even dream about any price drops.

I don't know how a Nintendo fans sees the future of their system and be excited. If this was sony, i'd be bitching so much about it that everyone would be calling me a lem that trolls its competition.

Official would mean that they actually said it's being delayed.

And for people saying that Sony has nothing else but GOW and Horizon2 are not seeing the full picture here. For the first time since the 360 days, Sony has actual competition. Not only do they not have anything to counter gamepass, but MS does have a lot of quality titles incoming, which also gonna be available for cheap on gamepass. That is some good competition right there, so don't think for a second that they'll be on auto pilote like Nintendo lmao.

@hardwenzen: Apple's making a competitor, so that will probably kill it. Valve is making one too. People were buying indie games to fill in the gaps, but with Steampal for that and Apple to take the casuals, as well as Nintendo not being good at following up successful systems, there's hope of a Wii U repeat.

Also, Switch U games will be $70, not $60.

Totally expected this and I'm in no hurry to play it as the first BoTW didn't exactly WOW me but I was still entertain. That said, I got more games to play and more to keep me busy whenever BoTW2 releases.

Do you really need them to officially announce it? When they say "we hope to release it in 2022" (paraphrasing here), this alone tells me that there's almost no chance of it coming out. But when we're talking about their flagship title, it guarantees it not coming out. They will not rush a game like this and the Switch 2 needs a strong launch title, and botw2 is perfect for that.

Oh know, the Xbox Fanny is emerging.😂

We haven't seen anything from Apple or Valve. We need to see the specs, price and supported games first. And by 2023 they might very well be $70 since the whole industry is slowly moving to the $70 price tag.

Jeez, so many remakes in that lineup. At least the holidays will be filled with super hyped games like Mario Party #12 and Just Dance #13 to compensate for the recycled content being resold.

Than gamers shouldn't have issue waiting this long and I always prefer slowly develop game to make sure its 99.8% (nothing's never 100% to a certain point of view) done than a really rush product. Looking at you CP2077.

At this point in this gen, I totally expect major AAA games to be heavy delay and as always, I support delays until the game is fully ready for mass production.

This would be very disappointing for the folks who are deep in the Nintendo culture.😉

@techhog89: Actually that's not Switch's entire 2021 lineup. There's Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge releasing this year and oddly, it's only been shown for Switch.

I'm just hoping for the Metroid Prime Trilogy and Donkey Kong 3D rumors to turn out true.

Because right now, any Switch owner is just better off selling the system.

Yeah I saw that list there awhile ago. While it is a bit disappointing if this indeed ends up being the case I currently have an over abundance of games to play these days so all this means to me is that I’ll just be spending more time with other games until Breath of the Wild 2 eventually does show up.

That’s it. Im selling my Switch. Screw these 50 games I have for it and the eight on that list that arent out yet I was really looking forward to.

Just a week ago, each time i said that botw2 is guaranteed to be for 2023, sheep was jumping on me saying that until Nintendo says so, the game is for 2022 guaranteed. Now that they've pretty much confirmed the game for 2023, y'all don't care cuz you have a mountain of other things to play BTW. Its funny.

This means absolutely nothing.

Unveiling the name and logo of Breath of the Wild 2 is nothing that would be shown in a stupid quickie like this.

That said. I'm expecting a March 2023 release with the Switch Pro having version having enhanced features. The worldwide shortage in semiconducters could push it out even longer.
