I think Mario 64 is meh and that Sunshine is trash, yet I really enjoyed the SMG games.  It always amazes me that people try drawing those comparisons, the games only share core similarities.

Everyone in SW should take a basic course in design.  It would alleviate so many nonsense posts.

I loved Mario Strikers Charged. Suprised the hell out of me. Fun game, alot of quality games there.

I don't even know if I got that far.  I tried the game on 3 different occasions and always quit.

It didn't help that I wasn't a fan of the setting, but it was also the only main Mario title I played that was obviously glitchy.

Then again, I'm not really a big fan of 3d platformers.  The SMG titles are the only 3d Mario games I really liked.

Yes someone at nintendo wronged me, it was miyamoto with his refusal to innovate after the N64, it was the management who decided to abandoned core gaming for soccer moms and kids, and then turn around and authorize rehash after rehash and refusing to make new core IPs and selling us garbage hardware at inflated costs, warding third parties off the system with their terrible ways and it was Reggie for straight up lying to me about nintendo's efforts to bring games with the Wii and with the Wii U.

Nintendo has this huge variation of games and series.  They all play differently.  Most of them are of at least a decent quality.  Some of them are good, even great!

The quality is there, but Nintendo also has brand power and Mario is the face of that.  Why wouldn't you use that to help boost sales of your games?

If Sony or MS had a character even half as popular as Mario you would see them doing the same thing.  Hell, Sony already tried and failed on quite a few occasions because they believed they had iconic characters.

Nintendo has something that these other guys don't and they use it to their advantage.  This is a dedicated gaming company going up against two behemoths.  They're doing exactly what they should be doing.
