So another massive win for Nintendo at E3? Sweet.
whether they realize it or not. smartphones are gonna make gameboy and psp extinctlloveLamp
These dayzz when it comes to "N", I'll believe it when I see and play it - Wii for me was just about a total disappointment & waste of money except for a few games and to really make the point, mah favorite game and the best time I had was playing the last gen Zelda WW since I skipped the Cube last gen. :P
It's most certainly a, we shall see.

A massive win? It is likely that sony and ms will preview their next consoles at E3. If the wiiu pales in comparison, that is not a massive win.

Do you mind elaborating? Next E3 will prove interesting as it may be a thorough presentation of the next generation from all 3 of them.

For the Pricing they don't want it to be $599.99. Also Sony and Microsoft had some bad experiences with E3 but so has Nintendo.E3 2010 and 2011 I loved what Sony announced but I fell asleep watching it they need to work on making their presentations more interesting.
Microsoft E3 2009-2011 I hated everything that I saw but atleast I stayed awake because it was funny and I laughed at how terrible the Kinect showing were (well the people playing Kinect)
Nintendo...please show some Nintendo powerhouses at E3 for the Wii U. No tech demoes, no old multiplat games.
It was especially disappointing after how well they handled the 3DS debut at E3 2010.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="Jolt_counter119"]
They better show something awesome this time cuz the WiiU reveal was probably the worst console reveal I've ever seen in my entire life.
Jolt_counter119
Pretty much. And the 3ds still had flaws from the beginning (no second analog) but I still got hyped. I don't think the WiiU showed anything good at all and instead of using the controller for cool things (FPS's and Pikmin with touch controls) they showed gyro and just playing regularly on the screen. Boring.
second analog is not a necessity....... this annoys me to no end
The hell is Nintendo doing announcing a console 1.5 years in advance of their launch? And then publicly announce they plan to re-debut their console? Dunno what's gotten into Nintendo lately but they better start pumping out as many Mario games as fast as they can.
Basinboy
and what is wrong with that exactly?

What does the 3DS give me? I hate to say it, but there isn't ONE game I want on the 3DS except Mario 3D Land. Not one. Maybe Kid Icarus, but that would be more of a purchase not because I want it, but because that's the only other title that, at least, mildly interests me. I'll admit, I'm excited for Level 5's offerings, and I think I could get into Monster Hunter, but all those titles seem far off and haven't been really shown.

No Resident Evil Revelations, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 2, Wright vs Layton, Layon: Mask of Miracles, MH3G or MH4, Mario Kart 7, Shinobi, Sonic Generations (I think it'll be different enough from the PC/console version,) Kingdom Hearts 3D, Heroes of Ruin, Ninja Gaiden, Super Smash Bros,Lego City Stories, Bravely Default, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Tekken 3D, MGS: SE 3D, Nano Assault, or Ace Combat?
I originally wrote out this long thing for every game but found it easier to color code.
Red means I don't like the franchise associated with the game/ don't care for the game.
Yellow, I don't know what it is.
Green means it's too far off for me to consider buying a 3DS.
As for what's left, The whole Layton and MH part I addressed in what was said previously, and Sonic IDK what to think. I don't think it's worth buying for a system, but I'm interested to see how good it is though.
dude if you feel like its not for you then get the vita. an amazing lineup is coming soon if it still doesnt impress you then just wait till something does or w,e
The best thing they could do from a marketing perspective, is to get rid of the Wii-U name. Even Super Wii, or Wii-HD would be less confusing and much more effective as a product name IMO.2Chalupas
This is very very true. I've run into a LOT of people who think it's just a different controller for the Wii. My Fiancee is more up to date than most casuals and she thought it was just a different kind of Wii and that I could play it's games on my regular Wii. They REALLY need to differentiate it or the unwashed masses aren't going to know any better.
It's nice we'll be able to download items while in sleep mode, if you can pre-purchase content you want and have it download the moment it launches, so while you're sleeping, it is downloading, that would be awesome. The only other thing I wish, but probably won't happen, is background downloading. It'd be nice if that somehow could be made into the 3DS's multi-tasking functionality. Then again, I'm more worried about chatting/messaging not being able to do that than downloading games and content. yoshi_64I wrote it on the other thread but I don. Know it you read it. People say that you can't use apps while playing games but it could be like the photo app. You use a get a shortcut to it, you can take pics while other apps are working.

I don't think a thorough presentation next E3 is all that likely from Microsoft and especially not from Sony. The PS3 is just hitting its stride. No need to take away its momentum by announcing a new console... a much better announcement would be a $199 price cut. They still haven't even hit mainstream price point yet with their current console. Nintendo and Microsoft did years ago.I get a feeling of desperation from Nintendo, unlike Sony and MS. Unlike Ninty, Sony/MS have third party support... they currently have high hardware sales, high software sales. The Wii put up amazing numbers most of its life, but also died much faster than anyone could have imagined. The Wii U is Nintendo's attempt to get back on the horse and start profiting and generating interest again.
But - no mistake - the reason they're launching a new console right now is because their own didn't last as long as competitor consoles did.
If I were MS or Sony, I'd have confidence that the PS3 and 360 could handle the Wii U and its port-filled lineup instead of rushing into next-gen.
But they didn't. All they did was admit that it had issues, which is true. A system that sells 6.6 million in six months is not a flop.I love how bluntly Nintendo admits that the 3ds is a flop.

We are also planning to launch the Wii U, which is the successor to the Wii, during the next fiscal year. We would like to show the final format of the Wii U at the E3 show next year. As we learned a bitter lesson with the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, we are trying to take every possible measure so that the Wii U will have a successful launch.
They bluntly admit they didnt have a successful launch. Sales isn't everything. Its about meeting expectations that Nintendo bases their whole business around.[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]It's nice we'll be able to download items while in sleep mode, if you can pre-purchase content you want and have it download the moment it launches, so while you're sleeping, it is downloading, that would be awesome. You're only able to initiate the cameras, and take pictures while something is in suspend mode. You can't view or edit pictures or heck change the camera's settings (black/white, sepia, solarize, contrast, brightness, etc.) while taking pictures in suspend mode. The 3DS just lets you take quick pics in normal mode, or use the "merge" face mode, that's it. I don't have such high hopes at the moment, because the only bit of video they showed, looks like it would be a full app. If there is just a way to send text messages (no cursive via touch screen, pics, etc) I'd be happy for now. So, I'm hoping, if it's like the camera's functionality, it's limited to at least messaging, but we'll see. The 3DS doesn't really open up anything except for the icons on the top of the screen. I hear the 3DS has about 32 MBs of RAM that's saved for the OS, hopefully they could find a simple way of making these functions added into the system.

Send a worded message and not leaving the game? Would be better then not being able to no? Of course I'm just speculating here, could go both ways.

thats retardted ms and sony will not let ninty have a 2 year lead over the next generation thats just basically giving it to them

Voice chat, other functions can be reserved for the full app and I'm ok with that. The only thing I'm thinking of is, how will this launch? Since you have to download this free app, and it's not coming in the firmware update, that's what bothers me. Not everyone will have this built into their systems unless they download the application. This limits it already. It should just be built into the system via firmware update.

I say it will go on to sell 60-70 million, and be a great success. It will also not be the last handheld, although I suppose the next Nintendo handheld might have more social and connectivity features (like the 3DS has more of those than the DS) just to keep it competitive against other devices.[QUOTE="ShuichiChamp24"][QUOTE="yoshi_64"]. I think SpotPass will download the shortcut icon of this app to everyone's home screens, and from there, the download for the full application will be launched. Nintendo has done this for other apps that it has released on the eShop- Netflix, Nintendo Video and Pokedex 3D, for instance.
I actually feel the same exact way. Though I've bough a 3ds (since launch) in fact I bought two of them and the only game I beat from start to finish was Zelda, I havn't even finished Star Fox. Although I dont think that the 3ds will fail, I do think Nintendo hit the nail on the head; they killed their own momentum for both the 3ds and Wii.I want to support Nintendo, but at the same time I feel like I'm throwing away my money when I buy a 3DS. This is good news. I may get a 3DS with upcoming Pokemon game (assuming they mean a REAL one, not a spin-off). What would really make me buy it in a heart beat though would be Metroid Dread.

More on topic, I am excited that these bad times will maybe push Nintendo into the modern age. Im not a huge Online gamer but it is a huge part of the current industry. Also the re-launch of the Wii-U is a fantastic idea. Everyone thought the tablet was the system, on top of that most of the demos they showed weren't even from the Wii-U. I just want them to clear up the controller issue, price (which is confirmed) and of course the games.
