Is it just a left turn racing sim? If so, I don't care. Otherwise, so jealous.

That's all they ever talk about, even though gameplay and content are more important. lol!! At least GT5 can be played online now. That's my only real reason to buy it. Otherwise the game will be the same as GT4 with better graphics.

It's how it plays that's more important. If it plays exactly like GT4, they it's not even worth it. PGR4 looks pretty close to GT5.

OhSnapitz

So how does it play? I'm dying to know..

it probably plays like the 4 previous gran turismos - very well and hugely satisfying, even without damage. once you get good at a racing game damage becomes irrelevant anyway.

i like forza but i have a soft spot for gran turismo because i grew up with it.

whether gt5 will be better than whichever forza incarnation it's up against is yet to be seen but i'm certain it will deliver all the great things gran turismo has delivered before - stunning looking cars on equally stunning looking tracks. crash damage (or lack of it)doesn't bother me in the slightest

not at all. no damage modelling = not such a massive loss when you consider the main aspect of the game is trying to avoid crashing. if you simply play forza to plough into opponents and watch bumpers fall off then you're not really playing the game as it was intended. crash damage becomes a frustrating chore after cooing at the first few collisions you experience

Hell yeah by a long shot, no Xbox 360 game will ever match to that game. I never played Forza 2 yet but I heard it's great in gameplay and the graphics are enjoyable, but yes I agree no Xbox 360 game will produce any greater detail than GT5. Congrats

It is apparent you have never played Forza. There is no way that Forza is "arcadey" when compared to GT.

GT4 Review

The Bad

  • Racing opponent AI is as dumb as ever
  • Lack of damage modeling encourages sloppy driving
  • Musical soundtrack is hit or miss
  • B-spec mode: huh?
  • No online

"Bumper car racing, so called because you use the artificially intelligent opponent cars as "bumpers" to scrub off speed and help position your car around tight turns, is alive and well in GT4. Heading too fast into right-hand turn one at Tokyo Route 246? Simply dive to the inside of the car in front of you, and watch in amazement as you not only make it around the curve unscathed, but also likely gain a position doing so."

Even Gamespot called GT a bumper car sim..lolol

all forza's selling points focus on the things that have been lacking in gran turismo. ie damage, online, car painting, ferraris etc. but comparing gran turismo 4 and forza 2, gran turismo has more cars, tracks andraces which, at the end of the day, a racing game should be all about. the locales of gran turismo are much more beautiful than forza's dull surroundings.

you can do the exact same thing in forza! you only have to be slightly more delicate with it. besides, like i've said in my previous posts, if you have or develop any kind of skill by playing racing games the need for playing bumper cars with your opponents goes out of the window in favour of actually passing people and taking corners properly. the ability to play bumper cars is completely up to the player. much like choosing to use the damage and custom paintjobs in forza.

people really should play racing games to race, not to crash, play bumper cars or paint your car

Yeah it's too bad you don't "just get a scratch" after plowing into a wall at 100 mph in Forza. And last time I checked when someone plows into a wall at 100 mph they don't come out unscathed. ;)

well, not really owned. nowhere in that review extract does gamespot call gt a bumper car sim. all they say is that a cheap tactic exists where you can go up the inside of opponents to cheaply take the corners and gain places. this tactic has existed in all racing games since they went 3d

well, not really owned. nowhere in that review extract does gamespot call gt a bumper car sim. all they say is that a cheap tactic exists where you can go up the inside of opponents to cheaply take the corners and gain places. this tactic has existed in all racing games since they went 3d

They called it bumper car Racing.:|

Bumper car racing = bumper car sim

you use other cars as bumpers to get around turns:|

NO Damage Modeling encourages sloppy driving..:|

you can also say the same for damage modelling in forza. people are going to want to see this fabled damage modelling and so are going to drive sloppily to crash and to see a bumper fall off the same way time and time again. don't get me wrong, i like forza, but i dont play racing games to damage my car. i play them to win and with that in mind i prefer the physics, handling, driving style and selection of cars & tracksof gran turismo

No Damage Modeling = Bumper car sim with good graphics

Congrats Cows!

not at all. no damage modelling = not such a massive loss when you consider the main aspect of the game is trying to avoid crashing. if you simply play forza to plough into opponents and watch bumpers fall off then you're not really playing the game as it was intended. crash damage becomes a frustrating chore after cooing at the first few collisions you experience

GT4 Review

Even Gamespot called GT a bumper car sim..lolol

up next...GT5:lol:

Haha you just owned that GT5 Fan. It has got to be said.

Also I agree that it's the best looking car sim to date, no doubt (even if it has shoddy physics and no damage modelling) but the best looking game ever? You have got to be kidding me. That's one of the most outrageous claims ever made in the history of mankind.

which you can do in just about every other racing game in existense. if you wanted to play bumper cars in forza all you have to do is turn the damage to 'off' or 'cosmetic'. does that mean forza is a bumper car sim too?

If you always turn damage to cosmetic or off, then yes you are.
