Well a it can be done, theres no doubt in that. But it would need to be optimized. And the jungle parts in Cryengine 3 just look as good as Crysis on high.Crysis originally in its form can not be transfered to the consoles, thats obvious because no game can be,unless and until its optimized. That does not mean there will be a massive loss of quality. We would just have to wait and see what type of loss are we talking about, because seriously so far we have seen games close to Crysis on consoles.lancer_87

Optimization isn't some magic word that makes old hardware perform like new, it is a mixture of resource management and quality control to maximize performance and quality.

256mb vram is 256mb vram, it doesn't become 512mb or more because of optimisation.

Meh, played it on my friend's PC, cool graphics but the gameplay isn't anything special. Halo, COD, and Resistance are all better. It would be nice if they could make a genuinely superb game with that fancy graphics engine so I can do something besides stare at the trees for enjoyment.

The Far Cry port on the Xbox was actually really good. The multiplayer was lots of fun compared to the Pc version.

Yes all you do is stare trees

Besides crysis has more than 300 single player maps on crymod for free and each map offers a different mission and a couple of total conversion mods

Does resistance halo or console cod have that much support? No you get stuck with whatever microsoft or sony deside to release ( if they ever release something that is) and youy got to paid for a few maps

The term "Single Player" springs to mind. Other than for downloading the mods, you don't need to go online to play them.

You couldnt be more wrong. Although crysis focus on single player and multiplayer isnt its strong point there quite a few people playing the game online sure is not TF or L4D but still asround 500-600 isn't that bad for a game released in late 2007 that doesnt focus on multiplayer

Wasn't interested in the game so much as some of the tech behind it. If I wanted to play it, I would just sign up for some OnLive ;)

That game was built for MP. Crysis was a SP game with a bonus of MP. You want people go get your ass handed to you in CS 1.6 or Source.

Maybe you didn't read what the poster said. find me a game 18 months old with people playing online and I did just that. We all know CS 1.6 (olddd game) is the most popular online shooter on the PC.

Yes comparing the multiplayer part of a multiplayer focus game thats on 3 platforms and sold more than 10million with a single player focus game makes sense

Also way to exxacurate 60000? ( if thats true i'm impressed though)

Whats the point? I don't even want crysis on consoles.

dgsag

*Jots down names for reaction to possible Crysis announcement* That's what they all say. Whenever a PC exclusive is announced for consoles, the consolites always go crazy.

Yeah, but most of the time the PC version is A MUCH better.

Well, the questions reveals that Cry Engine 3 is being built primarily around PC. PC being the lead platform. Very good to hear i must say. Means it'll look vastly superior on PC because, frankly, the console iterations didn't even look as Cry Engine 2.

Varies during the time of day. I was playing last night for a bit that had 3 full lists of servers (not including dedicated) with about half near full. As you know, most servers are 32 players.

And, frankly, i've actually checked Game monitor and realtime and it's rarely accurate. But, hey, believe what you want. You would be foolish to think that one instance during the middle of the day when most PC gamers are working (as most PC gamers are older) is when games are full.

If I honestly cared about first-person shooters a great deal, then I would own a high-end PC anyway.

Why is there over 147,000 players in Counter Strike 1.6? since Pc gamers are older and are at work.

Thats one thing I don't get, why consoles don't have more ram... Sure it might be a little more expensive, but PC ram is practically given away nowadays, I don't get it.

Ram prices are not the same as they were a few years ago. Consoles are also made to be affordable and simple gaming solution and that's why they cannot be upgraded.

PC ram prices are just as cheap as always.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184

Consoles don't have more RAM due to console manufacturers keeping costs as low as possible. And, frankly, you add GB's of ram to these consoles and they might as well be a PC that can't do anywhere nearall the basic PC functions.

What happened to the ubber graphics and PC gaming destroys all graphically yet you guys still playing games that look like something from the first Playstation. hell everyone with a Pc can play CS 1.6. CS 1.6 isn't the most popular shooter. You know what it says that tons still play it? PC games are timeless. Even with old games you can always find dozens and most of the time hundreds of people still playing online (Neverwinter Nights, Diablo, Starcraft, CS 1.6, Quake, etc.). Some people still enjoy these games and like to play them from time to time. Who are you to judge them?

You need a reality check, badly. You really have zero idea what you are talking about when it comes to PC gaming.

BF2 and BF2142 aren't even the same type of shooters as CS 1.6

CS 1.6 is the most competitive FPS on the market, and that's why it's still the second most played online FPS in history. Only beaten by CS: Source.

I stopped reading where you said CS 1.6isn't the most popular shooter. Yes it is and by a hugeeeee margin. If you can prove other wise go ahead.

CS Source is. You fail. Move on to something you know a little bit about.

You stopped reading? Too bad, you would've felt even worse if you had kept reading. Good for you i suppose.

lol you fail. prove it? That's right you can't because you don't have a clue. Cs 1.6 = 150,000 CS: Source 65,000

So, let me get this straight, you can use nothing but your word to "prove" that CS 1.6 is the most played online game ever yet i can't with CS:Source? Wow, now that makes sense. :roll:Because i have seen numerous sources stating it was CS 1.6 and then was overtaken by CS Source quite awhile ago.

Edit: Link was provided by another user. Heh, have a ball.

As i said, CS:Source is on top. On a PC at my college, didn't want to go looking for that Steam info. :) Thanks.

Not everyone is using Steam to play CS 1.6 online espeically the players inEurope etc. That's why there is a big difference between Steam and game monitor which is more accurate. Steam only count steam users.

Do you realize how many players still play CS 1.6?

Puckhog04

What does it say about PC gaming when a game made 10 years ago is still the most popular shooter? What happened to the ubber graphics and PC gaming destroys all graphically yet you guys still playing games that look like something from the first Playstation. hell everyone with a Pc can play CS 1.6. Games like battelfield 2 and 2142 that are miles better than CS 1.6 don't even get that kind of love.

You really have no idea what you're talking about...do you? Do you realize how many people play Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 on a daily basis?

This article finally clears up why Crysis can't run on consoles. Even though people have been told why before. Maybe this time they will listen.

[QUOTE="lancer_87"]Well a it can be done, theres no doubt in that. But it would need to be optimized. And the jungle parts in Cryengine 3 just look as good as Crysis on high.Crysis originally in its form can not be transfered to the consoles, thats obvious because no game can be,unless and until its optimized. That does not mean there will be a massive loss of quality. We would just have to wait and see what type of loss are we talking about, because seriously so far we have seen games close to Crysis on consoles.AnnoyedDragon

Optimization isn't some magic word that makes old hardware perform like new, it is a mixture of resource management and quality control to maximize performance and quality.

256mb vram is 256mb vram, it doesn't become 512mb or more because of optimisation.

They arent lacking much, the only thing they do not have is enough ram power to stream the whole crysis world, which heavy graphic cards do on high.It can be optimized, same case as the CE3.We would just have to wait and see how much of barriers do they really have to put to get it to consoles. That doesnt mean its impossible, and there are many other cases.Dont forget games like FAr Cry 2 and GTA IV.Infact dont even forget that GTA IV is more demanding than Crysis.
