[QUOTE="Puckhog04"]

[QUOTE="Jamex1987"] What does it say about PC gaming when a game made 10 years ago is still the most popular shooter? What happened to the ubber graphics and PC gaming destroys all graphically yet you guys still playing games that look like something from the first Playstation. hell everyone with a Pc can play CS 1.6. Games like battelfield 2 and 2142 that are miles better than CS 1.6 don't even get that kind of love.adamosmaki

You really have no idea what you're talking about...do you? Do you realize how many people play Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 on a daily basis?

CS 1.6 isn't the most popular shooter. You know what it says that tons still play it? PC games are timeless. Even with old games you can always find dozens and most of the time hundreds of people still playing online (Neverwinter Nights, Diablo, Starcraft, CS 1.6, Quake, etc.). Some people still enjoy these games and like to play them from time to time. Who are you to judge them?

You need a reality check, badly. You really have zero idea what you are talking about when it comes to PC gaming.

Battlefield 2 has 16000 player now playing that game ( find me a console fps that is 4 years old with that many players)

Find me a more recent PC shooter with at least 30,000 players. You can't because everyone is still playing olddddd games like Counter Strike. It's like that was the last good shooter ever made...no game has so many players.

Whats the point? I don't even want crysis on consoles.

*Jots down names for reaction to possible Crysis announcement* That's what they all say. Whenever a PC exclusive is announced for consoles, the consolites always go crazy.

I have a PS3 and 360, and I think there are plenty of FPS to occupy my time. Add PC FPS to the mix, and I should just sign the divorce papers pre-emptively.

Crysis looks fun and all, but I am still trying to get through all the shooters for the two consoles I own.

Its kinda hard to find a game with more than 30000 player since pc has way more shooters than consoles ( besides console players play a game and 2,3 months later they forget about it )

Find me 5 games on one console with over 10000 people playing online. Pc has Counter strike,Teamfortress 2, L4D, Battlefield 2, Quake live,Cod4,Cod 2,

It's not like the console games have these numbers online. The 360 version of COd4 actually has a ton more players than the PC version though. A lot of those servers aren't legit for the pirates. but yea COD4 is the most recent popular shooter on PC.

the cell's SPE's can produce provisional RAM.

Trinners

Lol. I instantly thought of the "360 will download more RAM through the internet" qoute.

Ah, System wars. Good times, good times.

Well i do agree that a big console game will have more players than a big pc game upon release and for the next few months but like i said pc has much more games that are popular online than consoles and the online community tend to last way more

[QUOTE="skrat_01"]Well indeed it could never run on the 360 or PS3 in the first place. Lemmings and Cows just enjoy convincing themselves otherwise. Fanboys do that I guess. Anyway its a great game, but the mere prospect of a port from 07 now is indeed eh-ish anyway.lancer_87
Well a it can be done, theres no doubt in that. But it would need to be optimized. And the jungle parts in Cryengine 3 just look as good as Crysis on high.Crysis originally in its form can not be transfered to the consoles, thats obvious because no game can be,unless and until its optimized. That does not mean there will be a massive loss of quality. We would just have to wait and see what type of loss are we talking about, because seriously so far we have seen games close to Crysis on consoles.

"we have seen games close to Crysis on consoles" Gotta love that comment, ignorance is bliss i guess. "Well a it can be done, theres no doubt in that." Technically impossible, sorry ask anyone who works in game development. There's a lot of comments here saying Crysis is generic, well i know those people are talking out of there (you know what). I guess Killzone 2 or Halo 3 are not?

[QUOTE="TechGuru89"][QUOTE="Jamex1987"] Played COD4 the other day had over 60,000 playing online.

Jamex1987

That game was built for MP. Crysis was a SP game with a bonus of MP. You want people go get your ass handed to you in CS 1.6 or Source.

Maybe you didn't read what the poster said. find me a game 18 months old with people playing online and I did just that. We all know CS 1.6 (olddd game) is the most popular online shooter on the PC.

The most popular online shooter period!

They arent lacking much, the only thing they do not have is enough ram power to stream the whole crysis world, which heavy graphic cards do on high.It can be optimized, same case as the CE3.We would just have to wait and see how much of barriers do they really have to put to get it to consoles. That doesnt mean its impossible, and there are many other cases.Dont forget games like FAr Cry 2 and GTA IV.Infact dont even forget that GTA IV is more demanding than Crysis.

lancer_87

This, combined with what I am reading in the Cryengine 3 video comments over at GT, gives me the impression some people really have no idea what Crysis level actually means. Some of them actually thought those videos were on par/better than Crysis, which makes me wonder how many of them have seen it outside of videos.

Let me repeat myself, optimization is not a cure all. It isn't simply a matter of optimizing it, getting a Crysis @ high level game with equivilent level design on consoles is impossible.

This isn't opinion, we know this for a fact.

Plus they bother to address GTA4 and FarCry 2 in the article. They're not more demanding since the entire city is not persistent in memory at once (unless you can prove otherwise) as compared to an entire level of Crysis which is of considerable size.

Meh, played it on my friend's PC, cool graphics but the gameplay isn't anything special. Halo, COD, and Resistance are all better. It would be nice if they could make a genuinely superb game with that fancy graphics engine so I can do something besides stare at the trees for enjoyment.

adamosmaki

Yes all you do is stare trees

Besides crysis has more than 300 single player maps on crymod for free and each map offers a different mission and a couple of total conversion mods

Does resistance halo or console cod have that much support? No you get stuck with whatever microsoft or sony deside to release ( if they ever release something that is) and youy got to paid for a few maps

What are you, Bill 'O Reailly, spinning my words around and such. You obviously misread my post or are just trying to make crap up. What I meant was that with average gameplay the only thing Crysis really succeeded in was looking pretty, so the main thing to do for enjoyment is look at the well rendered trees and such.

Except it's gameplay isn't average at all...i don't even think you played it enough to be able to judge it.

Pretty sure the best thing about that game is the dynamic gameplay, open levels, and the vareity of ways you can complete your objective. And it has some of the tighest gunplay ever.

I'm still yet to see people calling Crysis 'generic' or it having 'average gameplay' justify it. And these are the same people who praise GeOW, Halo3, KZ2 and COD4. Funny that.

Thats what drives me nuts lol.

The consolites just spout a single line as if its fact without ever backing it up. Over and over again they do it.

Its the only thing people can think of when arguing against the game. Apparantly fanboy logic is as simple as - if the game looks that good, it HAS to play poorly
