@appariti0n: It curently looks better then anything on PC. That may hurt your feelings but it is what it is.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
@zaryia:
1. Consoles have more AAAA and goty wins.
2. Consoles when best graphics because currently a a console game has the best graphics. And with proper hdr support any pc game missing it is dead last.
3. Fighting and racing games are far superior consoles. 8 of the top 10 players in SF5 are on PS4.
1. PC currently has the most 8.0+ (AA)/9.0+ (AAA) scoring titles every year this gen. Both at MC and GS. It is the premiere gaming device. Subjective hype and marketing awards do not change this fact. PC objectively has the better games.
2. PC plays nearly all XB games. PC plays most PS games. These titles are nearly all better on PC due to gfx and performance. Including Witcher 3, which still looks and runs better on PC. Gaming is better on PC, objectively.
3. PC is the bastion of competitive and online gaming. Console is a blip on the radar. Several more high scoring online titles with several more players and longer life spans. Higher skill caps, higher awards, more viewers, etc.

TLDR: Console gaming is not as good. It's for those noobs who want to play an overhyped movie game once a year, or mess with the crappy version of multiplats at 20 fps. Or CoD and Destiny 2 for a few hours a month.
@zaryia: No its for Goty and the best looking games. Witcher 3 dead last on PC as well without hdr.
Dozens more AAA/AA titles per year > A single GOTY award.
Hundreds of more overall better looking games (nearly all multiplats) > A single GFX award.
Competitive online > Waiting for the next CoD
PC, the premiere gaming device. Metacritic and Gamespot certified.
P.S. Witcher 3 still looks better on PC. Ultra4k/60 > Highfake4k/20-30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4iV-edKQeQ, everyone agrees.
@zaryia: Link to dozens of more AAA/AA each year?
Hundreds of overall better looking games? The difference is so minor in multiplat assets for most games. Ill take the very best exclusively on consoles.
1. www.gamespot.com www.metacritic.com
2. Yes. I'm glad you agree. The difference isn't minor, DF many times specifically states the differences are quite noticeable. Hell 20 to 60 fps alone is a huge game changer in visuals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4iV-edKQeQ Witcher 3 best on PC, still. Like 99% of games.
Gaming, best on PC. You lost.
@zaryia: Yet a console exclusive won best graphics everywhere again. All that power and PC still cant win.
Best graphics and most goty! The best of the best is truely on consoles.
Comprehension is proving a difficult concept it seems.
Horizon Zero Dawn didn't "win best graphics everywhere", DF voted for it as the best technical achievement and I completely agree with them, Gorilla Games done an outstanding job with very limited hardware. Both Battlefield 2 (by a country mile) and Assassin's Creed Origins, maxed out on PC have far better graphics, there are others such as Shadow of War that are arguably better as well, again maxed out on PC. Of course I'm assuming that you have no access to a high end PC and can't possibly comprehend the difference.
Also the most overall GotY awards, as far as I'm aware, went to Zelda Breath of the Wild (I haven't played it so can't comment on that) and you need completely different hardware from HZD to play. You do realise that all the consoles compete with each other, more so than they do with PC, and not something you can just arbitrarily combine on a whim. If that was the case then you could just as easily combine PC with any console for extra points (not that PC needs that though).
@GarGx1: Except they dont. And every screenshot and gif make that painfully obvious. The X1X version of ACO and shadow if war uses most of the PCs max settings. It still looks far worse then HZD. It wasnt just DF that gave it the reward. Just about every website that gave a best graphic award gave it to HZD and specifically mentioned the PC versions of those games. Play it and then get back to me.
@zaryia: Witcher 3 has lower poly assets lower levels of geometey, lower texture quality and worse lighting. Your oponion is noted but technically it looks worse.
I never said Witcher 3 PC Ultra looked better than HDZ, although that is debatable and likely the case. Several other games take that cake, easily. On pc ultra ofcourse.
I said W3 looks better on PC. Because it does. The video I linked shows this. Like 99% of video games.
Look m3dude, giovela, m3boarder, carlos, etc.....PC will always be the best. No matter what you say. Top scores. Top gfx. Top performance. Top online.

Have you played both Assassin's Creed Origins maxed out on PC and Horizon Zero Dawn? I have and I know first hand which looks better, I don't need someone to tell me.

So you were saying?
@loganx77: All this tells me that you’ve never actually played TW3 on a high end rig. Which is true of pretty much anyone who makes the claim that HZD looks better.
HZD has better interaction with the one type of foliage that can actually be interacted with, and better weather effects. That’s it.
All of these screenshots we see of Aloy up close to showcase how detailed her character model is are complete bullshit, as that’s only in photo mode. Any time you’re actually playing the game, and try to look close, she gets blurred out automatically. Gee wonder why?
Not to mention she doesn’t interact with water in any way shape or form, there are like 3 buildings that can actually be entered, and the level of detail there is like a ps3 game, plus the facial animations of anyone not tied to the main quest are almost as bad as ME: Andromeda. Every character in TW3 has extremely high quality animations across the board. No matter how unimportant they are to the main story arc.
Add in a few mods and the differences become even more ridiculous.
@appariti0n: Congrats you have proved you havent played HZD at least not on a PS4 pro.
The photo mode adds nothing to IQ on the pro. You change filters but the IQ is the same. Ive tested it myself and the PS4 pro has no bullshots. Its pushing far higher poly models, better textures, more detailed foilage and better animations. And yes you do interact with water it is a weak point but the snow and sand effects destroy TW3. Ive seen it on a 980ti so stop acting like high end PCs are mystical machines never to be found.
PS. TW3 is my favorite game of the gen and still ranks in top 5 visually. But it does not beat HZD on any platform graphically.
@loganx77: So you “saw” it on someone else’s rig on a 980 ti then? Explains a lot.
I beat hzd months ago on ps4 pro. It’s one of a whopping 3 games I bought that useless hunk of crap for.
@appariti0n: After the pro and X1X yes. And improved water tesselation. It was much more significant over the original console releases.
Dunno what you try to proof here.
Anybody with half a clue will understand that even 4k on xbox one x isn't 4k, the 30 fps isnt'a steady 30 fps and even if it was it's just 30 fps.
The 1080p mode isn't pushing a solid 60 fps and that the settings aren't anywhere near ultra, and again who wants to play at 60 fps if you can play it at 100+ fps which makes everything far more smoother.
HDR doesn't change this.
The best visuals and performance for witcher 3 = PC at 1440p with 100fps at ultra + beyond modded settings, there is no doubt about it.
1m 144hz screen over a HDR screen any day of the week.
A console is nothing more then a extremely limited PC, how hard is this to understand.
Gif? You'd ruin yourself, since HZD doesn't have dynamic foliage at all.
@Gatygun: Many of the TW3 settings match Ultra on PS4 pro and X1X. And the X1X does hit native 4k. The PS4 pros checkerbored tecnique isnt far from it accirding to DF and i can confirm this (it certainly looks better then 1440p. And if you would take a 144hz screen over HDR for TW3 thats laugable. For a competitive fps or racing i understand but for TW3? HDR takes the game to a whole nother level. And the PC simply doesn't have it. Not sure why that makes you all so salty.
still yet to notice the big deal about HDR on my 4k TV (yes its 1000 nits)... and still barely any content is available.

CoD 4 won best graphics the year after Crysis.
I think that's proof enough that the standards are different.

Cuphead won most graphics awards this year, that alt account can't even check his own 'facts' before attacking his keyboard.
@GarGx1: Those are art direction awards in most of those links. Read your own links. Not all have the same criteria.
Those are the graphics awards given out by "most sites" this year. Not my problem if you don't like it and it doesn't fit your narrative.
Your statement is factually wrong, deal with it.
@Ant_17: You can’t just mod HDR support in.....LOL
You can mod ENBs and reshades in, which are superior to HDR...
Do that. Stop crying. Herms are now working for Bethesda for free to fix their games, which are shit, so doing this for Witcher should be an honor.
@DragonfireXZ95: Yes it actually does. Its limited to small bushes for stealth purposes.
It also has trees that are destructable. You cant destroy them but the robots can. Large trees never budge in TW3.
No, but all the grass moves. ;)
I guess it's a question of whether you want foliage to move almost all the time, or only in bushes and trees. Although, I don't have the game and can only find one gif of tree destruction, which is odd. I guess I'm not looking hard enough, but it's cool if trees can be busted.

Get some 4k movies going, good bye crushed blacks + welcome more vibrant colours and brighter highlights.
I would, but I'm not happy with the cost of a 4K Blu Ray player and the movies themselves... was hoping they would be far further along by now, but ah well :)
@GarGx1: Best graphics awards in Art direction and technical awards are often different. Its been like that for over a decade. Sorry you still haven't figured it out yet. Stay salty my friend.
You clearly stated that Horizon Zero Dawn was voted best graphics for 2017 by the majority of websites, you're clearly wrong. Not my fault you can't check your facts before typing nonsense but keep up the charade anyway. By the way the day I get upset by a an alt troll on System Wars is the day I stop coming here.
@loganx77: If any of us Hermits were really "salty" we'd probably roll alts and troll to feel better.
Oh wait.
@GarGx1: Im no alt and im no troll. It won best technical visuals on most websites. Not my fault that got you so salty.
Yet you created your account, posted EXACTLY 25 times in the political gamers forum before coming here. Whatever you say notanalt.
It's beginning to smell like Dynamite and police officers around here.

Yeah.... Know what you're talking about. If you're a PC gamer there's really no reason to get an Xbone to do 4k movie playback, since a dedicated player can offer better picture quality. The movies are costly, I've bought three, all at full price (29,99 euros). I wonder why they pack a normal blu-ray with the 4k version as well, I'd gladly take just the 4k version at half the price. I did pre-order IT though :P Haven't seen the new iteration yet and my GF wants to see it too, so I thought why not, been a while since I bought an UHD disk anyways.
