Wondering what system wars take is on No Man's Sky...

I was watching a lengthy hands-on commentary about the game and it's just... So.... Ambitious. The game in motion makes me think there are still people willing to be daring in the hobby...

I want to believe...

I want to BELIEVE......

but can it REALLY deliver?

A massive galaxy with innumerable planets to go, see and effect.... A limitless game of possibilities....

When this game launches do you think you'll honestly be playing a new "thing" in gaming, or is No Man's Sky going to be just an overly ambitious let down....?

It's going to disappoint. Sorry.

Honestly, just doesn't look enjoyable to me from what I've seen of it.

It looks like a great game but sadly people are going to be expecting it to be more than it is. Same thing happened to Titanfall.

Skeptical of it delivering anything remotely ground breaking or even fun but still intrigued somehow. Scale alone does not impress me however.

@Renegade_Fury: is it a starship game though? It sounds and looks like there's equally a ton of on land exploration along with the space travel.

I dunno what to believe.

I've heard both sides where it's like Minecraft where your in game world is not the same and is randomly generated and I've heard ppl will be able to visit your worlds you find or something.

So I dunno.

@TheEroica: I view it as one - You get in your ship and go to random generated areas. sort of like Elite: Dangerous, and you engage in space battles. Even if it's more about the exploration, I can't see it being in any way deep or meaningful. It'll probably attract the same type of crowd that liked playing Journey or watching Avatar.

@Renegade_Fury: I'm a little worried it will be ultimately boring... As in no real thrill in the gameplay at all... Vapid in meaningful gameplay.

On the other hand, if they achieve the openness along with keeping the player glued to the controller I think it could be pretty awesome.

I forget the fellas name for Hello Studios but he is VERY passionate about this game. You can tell he put a lot into it. If it fails it will kill him. I have high hopes for it. Just the amount of freedom alone should please me.

I honestly have no idea if it's going to be good or not. I can say that It's either going to be god awful or epic, don't think there will be an in between for this game. so far it looks very tedious or boring from what I've seen, but that could be just picking crappy videos to promote it.

That said, I hope it does well. Just because of the studio making it and the passion they have for the game.

It looks like a fun little indie game worth a few hours of gameplay. It doesn't look like a mindblowing experience with infinite replayability like the developers, Sony, and PS4 fanboys are hyping it up to be.

They haven't shown any real gameplay so far, just the player flying to a bunch of planets and looking around.

They crafted thousands of assets by hand. The characteristics of the planets will be based on how far or close are they from the sun. Closer to the sun means less vegetation maybe a desert, little water. Far from the sun will be darker and colder. Etc. Based on this the planets will be populated by the hand crafted assets.

Nothing in this game will be by chance/random, everything will be controlled by mathematical formulas. Almost like real life if you think about the fact that everything about the universe can be explained through numbers.

It's going to disappoint those who expect a AAA mainstream game.

It's an ambitious and unique game, probably with many flaws. I know i'll love it, though. I like to explore in games, even when there's nothing major to find, and i'm not expecting more than a massive and empty universe to explore and take some interesting pics.

The concept is brilliant, but it probably would need a team of hundreds and no deadline to fully deliver.

I've always doubted the game, from day one at E3.

They always meantion these mechanics, like resource collecting, fps against alien robots, npc factions you figh against, but they never show it in detail.

It's nto just abit of info, here and there, it's the whole thing. All we've seen is off shots from trailer, like that split second where he shots a laser ata robot, They even admit to no mission system and are extremely vague about how their campaign will work. I've always questioned the amount of interactivity in the game.

But worst of all is the RNG planetary creation. yeah, yeah look at all the pretty environments, the pretty aliens, etc. But it's never been shwon directly, by playing.

Since they admit themselves that 90% of planets are deserted, i want to see a 15 minute playthrought. No trailer BS, just play the game and fly to a random planet and see how the generation works.

Bullshit. There's always random patterns in any non-predesgined levels. Algorithms and patterns are set before hand, but wheter or not a tree forms to your left or right is is compeltly by chance.

Like real life? Oh brother.

If it achieves everything the developers want it to achieve, then it will be the second coming. I've been on board the hype train since the first trailer, something I usually try to avoid, and I really really hope the tracks don't derail the train off a cliff in the end which is all too common for hype trains.

I love to explore in games. Hell, I was gutted when Final Fantasy essentially gutted the airship from the series along with overworld maps. So, this game looks pretty much about what I'm about and I like the prospect of doing ship upgrades as well as the potential for a social aspect.

The fact that the game is essentially a run to the center of the galaxy for the story tells me that once you get there you will be running into lots of people. After completing the story, the advancement will come from pushing back outwards from the center. All in all, I'm impressed with what the game is about and see it keeping me entertained for quite a while.

I won't trash or praise a game until I play it myself. System Wars is too quick to pull the trigger on a game being the second coming. I can't tell you how many times people have said "(insert unreleased game here) is already my GOTY."

Judging from the concept, I could see most people getting bored after a few hours.

It sounds like Minecraft without the "building your own home" aspect - you can explore and fight things, but eventually you'll just feel that each area is pretty similar to one another.

Alternately...I could also see this being another situation where a developer gets sued for broken promises.

No game in history has delivered on the promise of multiple planets and entire galaxies to explore without resorting to redundant gameplay or repetitive planets.

It's just too much work and creates too high an expectation.

I admire the potential the game has, but I've been skeptical since the second or third showing and it was pretty much the same stuff as the second showing: flying in space, fly down to planet, land on planet, walk for a moment with nothing really there to bring you to, then fly back up to space.

I hope there's more to it than that.

No Man's Sky Walkthrough of Gameplay Features: Mu…: http://youtu.be/i9w6AJxyD18

I don't know the details. Is sony publishing? Who is throwing the money at this thing? I ask because just from looking at it, it looks as if perhaps the game was going to release way earlier but hype is what led it to a more ambitious project.

.........As of now I'm thinking let down. Current trends are pretty bad, even the ones people seem to like--such as "looting games". Personally I feel that handcrafted is always better.

Exactly. So far, none of the mechanics meantioned have displayed enough depth to allow for a sandbox approach to gameplay. And with no multiplayer, or atleast finding other people will be hard, community driven gameplay is also impossible
