Halo 3 launched on the 25th of september and charted more than a million on a slightly smaller base around the same time RROD started happening.

Did you not ask for a first party game on the PS4 doing better than halo? There it is. Halo 5 sold 900k+ in 7 days. TLOU:R sold 1.5M in a day. Did you forget asking the question?

It's actually 1 million in 3 weeks, also that is world wide sales including digital, not sales isolated to a single country that only includes retail figures for physical copies.

Bloodborne is a solar system, Halo 5 is a galaxy, not even comparable.

Getting so much déjà vu from literally every lem comment

So much emphasis and comments on 'holiday season' like 2016 as a year in space and time doesn't even exist at all, makes me wonder what lems will have left to talk about when December ends.

I also crease up when lems are more bothered about a remastered pack of old ps3 games(that were heavily bundled mind you, thus don't factor into the NPD number released) than the decline of their most precious and premier of all xbox exclusive franchises. The literal tip of the pyramid.

quick question, why does the Uncharted Collection get a pass on NPD because it was "heavily bundled?".. There were no Halo 5 bundles?.. according to @Shewgenja, Halo 5 bundles single handedly won the October NPD for the Xbox One thanks to an extra week of availability..

well, I personally wont be making an argument.. If Uncharted 4 beats out Halo 5 in terms of sales, great.. Halo 5 is still a successful game regardless of what another game does..

But for cows to insist Halo 5 is a failure in terms of software and hardware sales, that's just ridiculous.. With a larger install base and more goodwill from the general gaming community, PS4 exclusives should outsell Xbox One exclusives.. especially worldwide.. that doesn't make a game like Quantum Break that probably isn't going to sell as well as Uncharted 4 any less fun to play..

Believe me, I'm only in this thread to enjoy all the damage control and spin coming from cows concerning a game and a franchise that is clearly still successful.. No worries, i'll be back to my "i don't play sales" stance soon enough..

well firstly, these aren't my rules.. these are the generally established guidlelines of the metagame we play here..

But a "1st party exclusive" is generally accepted as a game developed by the owning companies' developers (ex 343i, Naught Dog, etc) and is only available on the single platform.. Meaning that if the game is also released on another companion system (ex LittleBigPlanet 3 being on PS4/PS3), being released on one console and also PC (Ex Ori and the Blind Forest on XB1/PC), being a remaster of previously released games (TLOU: Remastered to PS4 from PS3), or games released on all systems (Call of Duty: AW XB1/PS4/PC) are all technically "mulitplatform"..

There tends to be some wiggle room when terms like "console exclusive" get thrown around but I can definitely tell you that TLOU: Remastered for the PS4 is definitely not a 1st party PS4 exclusive by any measure that i'm currently aware of..

It isn't getting a 'pass' Sony didn't offer many bundles so there's a high chance if anyone was buying a PS4 bundle they were more than likely going to get Uncharted with it, same thing happened with The Last Of Us as a standard pack in game, hell it may not even be that much more. MS however has a medley of different bundles. The Uncharted number including bundles was never released whereas the Halo number which included normal npd sales and bundles*.

(*Knowledge just recently from NPD_george has told us NPD does track bundles and has the numbers but does not include them in official reports, the user however did add them together for someone who asked)

For a previous example: NPD once displayed Destiny selling better on Xbone for the month but PS4 had the Destiny bundle, then there was Activision's PR stating how PS4 was top selling because of bundles but this won't show up on NPD.

lems go as far as to call Rise of the Tomb Raider an exclusive, I don't see why you'd have a problem with someone labling a first party exclusive an exclusive.

Fact is the original PS3 numbers for TLOU are not counted for the Remastered version of TLOU on the PS4, it's completely separate. TLOU is a first party exclusive game (meaning the game belongs to Sony made by an internal Sony studio) so your objection is kind of funny when you really look at it.

You've resorted to technicalities to save face to prevent the requirements of your original demand from being met.

Here is the thing tho, you've ended up having to make a log of excuses to ELIMINATE TLOU R from counting because it's a first party Sony game for PS4 that did do better than Halo 5 on it's own--the game that was supposed to be xbone's Blockbuster selling phenomenon and beat out everything Sony could make.

That fact will remain no matter how you categorize it.

Halo 5 sold great when you compare it to other games but it was a huge flop for a Halo game. To go from selling 3.3 million at launch for mainline titles to sub 1 million is a huge drop. Both Halo and Assassin's Creed are franchises with a huge decline. Halo is now actually below where Gears and Uncharted were last gen, let alone where Halo was once.

It's still going to be Microsoft's best selling franchise this gen, but they are definitely not happy with how far its fallen.

I'm glad that Yoshi's Woolly Word did well. That game is delightful.

Thanks for the clarification but it still sounds like a cop-out.. Naughty Dog claimed that 80% of PS4 owners didn't play Uncharted and the Uncharted Collection for PS4 launches at the beginning of what cows are trying to call a slow month and it barely makes a dent.. Blaming it on bundles is quite lame especially when people are going out of their way to stick purely to NPD numbers when it comes to Halo 5 even though there were Halo 5 bundles widely available as well and Halo 5 is also said to have sold exceedingly well digitally..

a record setting $400,000,000 in one week says they are happy..

I'm not resorting to technicalities.. plain and simple, TLOU: Remastered is not a PS4 1st party exclusive.. never has been, never will be..

Uncharted 4 will be your next best bet of putting a true PS4 1st party exclusive up again Halo 5 in terms of sales.. good luck and I wont care either way..

The only dwindling loyalty is from the developers towards their fans. Give me a Halo game that looks and plays like a Halo game and I will buy it but I don't want to play as that annoying spartan flop guy who talks too much and tries too hard fighting those annoying enemies with that terrible yellow color scheme. That isn't Halo, that's not even Metroid. Though some of the art direction reminded me more of Metriod than Halo but not as good.

the number given out for Halo 5 INCLUDES bundles sales for NPD. I know there was a $500 Halo bundle, well aware of that.
