@speak_low: Lol "the spinny one"?
All I'm saying is that Halo 5: Guardians had a successful launch, helped the Xbox One get a much needed NPD victory, and is obviously a huge financial asset to the Xbox division judging from those revenue numbers..
Nothing more, nothing less..
Anyone trying to turn this into a debate about the decline of the Halo franchise since the Halo 3 days way back in 2007 when the Xbox 360 and the Halo franchise in general were in their absolute prime or comparing these sales numbers to Halo 4's when it had a pool of 70+ million consoles to sell to is "the spinny one".. And so far, it looks like you fall into that category..
what about comparing it to halo 3? when the base was just small if not smaller?
Oh you mean when Halo was still a relatively new franchise, was coming off the Xbox Live-defining multiplayer of Halo 2, the Xbox 360 was the darling of the gaming community, digital sales were a non-factor, and it launched in a pre-Call of Duty dominated market?
Now contrast that to the fact that this is the seventh major release of Halo, people were potentially and understandably burned by the Halo: MCC launch issues, the Xbox One has been a disaster in terms of public relations, digital sales (which aren't tracked on NPD) are at an all-time high, and Call of Duty typically rules the market this time of year when it comes to first-person shooters..
Take a look at that and tell me you can definitively draw an apples-to-apples comparison of X numbers vs Y numbers.. you cant. Halo 3 launched in a completely different environment than Halo 5 yet Halo 5 still shows that the Halo franchise continues to be a complete success in terms of moving software and moving hardware..
