The ps3 sold like 80,000 in june. And it was a clarence on the 60gb ps3. If sony ps3 don't pick up in sales then they will have to put all of there ps3's on clarence.

I am still blown away that a Madden game on an out of production console (xbox) outsold the most popular hardware sales wise console (Wii).

That is just staggering, and definetly shows who is buying the Wii folks. It definetly isn't hardcore nort older casual gamers.

Seems that the PS3 is sucking more in sales in NA than even Europe and Japan. I'm really starting to think that there is no posibility for it to catch the Xbox360 in worldwide sales. Unless some really radical things change, like $399 PS3 and release some AAA games.kentaro22

If Sony doesn't act, they will be almost knocked out of it after this holiday season. They are just too far behind in every catagory to make a come back. I think the NPD analysts are right, Sony really has FOUR months in the US to get its act together or its most likely over for them this round.

The total sales of ALL FIVE Wii games on the list are about equal to the sales of the top ONE Xbox 360 game. Obviously there is a big difference between the software sales of the two best selling consoles. Anyone can see that pretty clearly.

That is why 3rd parties are not developing for the Wii when the "other" system has an amazing attach rate and million+ seller club members.

He is right, the Wii is mainly good for Nintendo (and maybe Square Enix with DQ). Normal 3rd party games do not sell well on that system.

In his ORIGINAL point, he was saying that software doesn't sell on the Wii. When I pointed out just how wrong he was, he fell back to the "only 1st party games sell". So he's the one backtracking.

Also, I'm not backtracking off my other post either. Tell me what other significant 3rd party game was released for the Wii besides Madden. Can you prove to me that if a big game like Bioshock was released for the Wii that it wouldn't sell well? I can show you RE 4 (even though a port) has sold an excellent amount showing that hardcore 3rd party games do sell as long as they are good.

As for the Xbox version outselling the Wii version, good for the Xbox. What do you want me to do? Give you a cookie? The Xbox install base is bigger than the Wii by at least 10 million users. Look at the PS2 version. 600+k due to its install base. Now I'm not going to make excuses for the Wii version since its not up to par against other systems, but it's still the 12th best selling game. The real question is will it have legs to continue selling in the next few months. We'll find out soon enough.

Metroid Prime 3 came out on Aug. 27. It only had 4 days of sales recorded. In comparison, Bioshock was released on Aug. 21. It had 10 days of sales. It's pretty comparable.

360 = 505k

Wii = 455k

So what were you saying about software sales not backing up hardware sales? Now this month is definitely an exception with Madden 08 for the 360 selling a lot, but like I mentioned earlier, it's an exception to the rule, not the norm. Seriously, what are you basing your assumptions on? The numbers are against you any way you look at them.

If you take the top 5 best sellers on the Wii... add up the total sales... it is just about equal to the top total sales of the top selling 360 game. Where's the flaw? It's not even logic... it is simply fact.

If you want to see "flawed logic" then look at your post. You said the only reason the 360 had such high sales was because of Madden... but of course, Madden came out on the Wii too... and it is one of the five games I included. That is flawed logic.

Need some more flaws in your logic? Halo 3 is being released next month? Want to make bets on Wii vs. 360 software sales next month? Without the "Madden" that you say is needed for the 360 to have better sales?

If you take the top 5 best sellers on the Wii... add up the total sales... it is just about equal to the top total sales of the top selling 360 game. Where's the flaw? It's not even logic... it is simply fact.

Wow! 360 did amazing. I know there was the price drop but you'd think people would wait for Halo 3 in case one of their local stores does a deal with the game.

Expected numbers for the rest but if MS can sell 280k just with a price drop, imagine what's gonna happen when Halo arrives.

You are twisting my words son. In my eyes the TOTAL software sales, Month by Month, don't back up the Wii hardware sales from a business perspective. It isn't a failure or anything like that, but doesn't follow a good demographic. Comprende?

You said in the beginning of this thread that Wii software sales and 360 software sales for the month of August were comparable. You are completely wrong, so you are trying to prove they were comparable in some other month. You debate very poorly.

Mario is by far the largest franchise in gaming and could easily outsell Halo 3 if it lives up to its high expectations.

I wouldn't be surprised if it sells 500,000+. A lot of people who have never even played/owned a Halo game before will buy a 360 for Halo 3 simply because they will fall for MS obscene marketing (Halo 3 Nascar, Halo 3 Soda, Halo 3 Burger King meal, ect.).

That was your first statement trying to prove that 360 and Wii software sales were close... because they both had 5 in the top 20. All I was pointing out was how wrong that statement was. Once again those 5 Wii game's total sales are equal to 1 top selling 360 game. And that game is multiplat and on both the Wii and 360, and is included in both of those totals. The end.

I think Madden had a lot to do with the increase in 360 sales. MS/EA advertised Madden like it was 360 exclusive. All the ads had a 360 logo on it, but no other consoles'. For the matter, I think that the Halo 3 anticipation probably had even more of an effect than the price drop did. This is of course just my own speculation...

Sure if they include a game with that controller. Also, it's not me who is carbitrarly ounting Wii Play as software, it's the NPD. They have more credibility than you and me combined, so if they say Wii Play counts, then it counts.

Madden sales are proof that MS is hitting its target consumer base.
