My only fact is this is the first time a true POPULAR full multiplatform hit the streets, and the Wii did terrible. Terrible... That is horrible news for 3rd party developers. That is why I was pointing out original xbox vs. the Wii. Wii=gold mine for Nintendo (and NDS=world's oil supply), but that won't help 3rd parties unless Nintendo pays them. But why would they?
EDIT: Oh, doesn't the 360 have more million dollar sellers? Wii has three in NA, not sure about 360.

Nintendo doesn't have to pay anyone. 3rd party devs are already giving the Wii more support than the GC had in its entire lifetime. They know it's a viable console to make profits. And it's not the first time a true popular full multiplatform hit the street. Madden 07 did very well last year. Red Steel sold 1 million copies. Rayman Raving Rabbids sold 1 million copies as well. Resident Evil 4 Wii edition was expected to only sell 400,000 copies worldwide. Capcom shipped 750,000 copies because it was selling so well.
Seriously, what facts have you brought to the table?

In North America? GAF forums only have three for NPD, I can go look them up. This is about NPD (USA), so NA only. Mario Party is one of them, can't remember the other two, but its probably sports and play.
And again, I brought only one fact which is the only one I'm arguing, why do I need more? Month by Month, 3rd party hasn't impressed me on the Wii, has it impressed you? Please show me an example of THIRD party in the US. Thanks.
P.S. I'm not going to argue another point because this is the only one I care about in this discussion, so answer my question or just go back to talking to other folks. Thanks.

YOUR original argument was that Wii software sales aren't steller. I've proven you and the other guy wrong. I've included YTD sales from Jan 2007 to Jun 2007. Here they are again:
Software Sales YTD 01. NDS Pokemon Diamond Version I see 3 Wii titles to 1 360 title in the top 10. How is that not steller Wii software sales? Now that you know you've been owned, you're trying to fall back on the old 3rd party games don't sell bit. Then you're tyring to fall on the 3rd party games don't sell in NA!!! Stop changing the argument. Stick to your original point and tell me how Wii software sales aren't stellar enough to push hardware sales.
02. Wii Play w/ Remote
03. NDS Pokemon Pearl Version
04. PS2 God of War II
05. PS2 Guitar Hero 2 w/ Guitar
06. 360 Guitar Hero 2 w/ Guitar
07. Wii Mario Party 8

Why Jun 07? If you went farther 360 is on top? See what I did there?
And there are two 360 on there, so your raving is losing credibility towards me because you are rushing facts.
And wheres the source?
And for its hype, I still don't think its stellar at all. The attach rate is too low. Do you know what the attach rate is? It is a critical key for investors and 3rd party developers. I'll find a source for you if you like.
Hopefully PS3 sales will pick up soon.badgert
While you have hope, it just takes common sense. The PS3 have no system selling games this year. Think about it the PS3 had a $100 price drop while the 360 had a $50, $30, and $20 price drop. The Xbox 360 have games while the PS3 doesn't, that's also why it sold more. The $50 dollars price dropdid more for the 360 than $100 dollar price drop did for the PS3. Bottom line PS3 sales won't pick up soon or anytime this year, just wait.

It's up to Jun 07 because that's when the NPD released it's YTD numbers. *sigh* If you want to tabulate all the numbers up to August 2007, then go ahead and do so. I'm just using NPD's numbers that they released.
The source is from NeoGaf. Their source is the NPD.
And stop... please. Just admit you don't know enough about the Wii to judge its sales. Its attach rate isn't low. Its attach rate is around 5.9 compared to the 360s 6.4. This number was released by Nintendo during E3. Seriously, give it up. You've shown you know nothing about sales.

No no, those are august 07. The article is 06. Sorry for the confusion. The best numbers are currently are computed by forum users so I posted them (from August 07). The best article I've found googling is from 06.
EDIT: Also, Wii Play was released in the USA in Feb, 07, so that should've given you a hint those are 07 numbers:)
Interesting GAF poster statistic related to current NPD for NA:
Wii has passed 4 million in 10 months. Past systems passed 4 million in...
PS2: 11 months
Xbox: 14 months
X360: 14 months
GCN: 19 months

X360: 7 months
GCN: 8 months
[QUOTE="Mystikef"][QUOTE="Zhengi"][QUOTE="Mystikef"]Flaw in my logic? Right dude. It's not that hard to follow:If you take the top 5 best sellers on the Wii... add up the total sales... it is just about equal to the top total sales of the top selling 360 game. Where's the flaw? It's not even logic... it is simply fact.
If you want to see "flawed logic" then look at your post. You said the only reason the 360 had such high sales was because of Madden... but of course, Madden came out on the Wii too... and it is one of the five games I included. That is flawed logic.
Need some more flaws in your logic? Halo 3 is being released next month? Want to make bets on Wii vs. 360 software sales next month? Without the "Madden" that you say is needed for the 360 to have better sales?
I wasn't insulting the Wii. I like the Wii. My comment was towards youimplying that Wii software sales are equal to 360 software sales when it should be obvious to any five year old that it is clearly not the case. I am not sure why you pointed out July sales... the 360 outsold the Wii in software sales that month too. Are you trying to prove me right?
Zhengi
My precious 360?
Read it again. The 360 has not had a game sell as much as Madden 08 every month of this year. So like I said, it's an exception to the rule, not the norm. That is also a fact. I pointed that out with numbers from last month. I might have worded it poorly the first time around, but this is what I meant.
I didn't say that the only reason why the 360 had high sales was because of Madden 08. Where did I specifically say that? Please point out the quote. Don't be putting words in my mouth... or fingers in this case.
Right, so now you're going with Halo 3. Fine. Let me ask you this. Is a new Halo game releasing every month from now till the end of the life cycle of the 360? If not, you can't assume that every month is going to bring about a game that sells as much as Madden 08 when it hasn't done that the entire year. Do you get the logic now?
And I'm not implying anything. You're powers of inferring are incorrect. All I'm saying to the original post that I quoted is that the Wii softwares are impressive in themselves and that they are not as weak as he implies. Now he claims he's not implying this, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's completely wrong in assuming that Wii software isn't pushing hardware.
Once more, I pointed out the July NPD numbers to show you that not every 360 game sells 800+k a month. That's the only reason why.
YOU: "wonder why. Could it be because you're comparing them to the top selling franchise every year?"
I assume you were referring to Madden, were you not?
YOU: "Only way the 360 can continue such software sales is if EA releases a new Madden every month."
I pretty month think that confirms that you said it... so much for me putting words in your mouth.
Seriously, you need some reading comprehension. The only comparison I made was that if you're expecting to see a 360 game sell 800+k a month, you would need release a Madden game every month. Reading comprehension FTL
YOU: "What are you talking about? Look at the freaking numbers and stop coming up with this BS. In the top 20 best selling games, the Wii has 5 games. The same number of games as the 360. You people need to give it up. Software is doing fine on the Wii. Sheesh. "That was your first statement trying to prove that 360 and Wii software sales were close... because they both had 5 in the top 20. All I was pointing out was how wrong that statement was. Once again those 5 Wii game's total sales are equal to 1 top selling 360 game. And that game is multiplat and on both the Wii and 360, and is included in both of those totals. The end.Mystikef
Read in the context of the post I was quoting. My point is that the Wii software sales are doing fine. That was not an attack on your precious 360. You MS fanboys are so sensitive.

Oh snap! Wii software doesn't sell!!!!
Dude... I already told you I like the Wii. I like video games in general and have probably been playing them longer than you've been alive. Just because you are a fanboy... doesn't mean everyone else is too.
I find it funny how you made one completely false statement (your original one) and now you have been fighting like mad to try to convince everyone that you were right. You were wrong. Software sales for the Wii were not even close to software sales for the 360 in August. You tried tried proving they were and they weren't. It's very simple: You were wrong and you seem to lack the ability to admit it. Everything else you are saying is just plain garbage, for example:
YOU: "Oh snap! Wii software doesn't sell!!!!"
What was that for? Did I ever say Wii software didn't sell? Nope. All I said was that 360 software WAY OUTSOLD Wii software this month. And you know what... I was right.

*sigh* Nevermind since your reading comprehension is so poor. You're trying to argue that I said Wii sales >>>> than 360 sales this month when that was not my point. I've told you my point several times already. Wii software is good enough to move that many hardware consoles. I've shown that they've been stellar all year from Jan 2007 to Jun 2007. That's all I'm saying. No fanboyism at all. Geez, for an old fogey, you need to go back to school and study more English.

Ok I was bored trying to get sleepy so found you a source about overall sales. Note this includes downloads I Believe which are very popular on XBLA, or so they say.
http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/news/?id=17422
Please note they used the wrong value,in the article (they listed million, but its billion. Silly editors).
Microsoft also said that since last November when the Wii and PS3 launched, gamers have spent more dollars on Xbox 360 software ($24.3 billion) than on software for PS3 and Wii combined ($19.8 billion).
Ok so what should we discuss next?
EDIT: From other investing standpoints, MSFT is a good stock to have next year possibly. Vista is taking off, the game division might actually survive the warranty issue, and they just got some impressive new patents published.

Ok, once again the ORIGINAL Xbox had more Madden sales then the Wii did. An out of production model beat the best selling hardware platform for the most popular game of the month (maybe year so far). That is why 3rd parties are not developing for the Wii when the "other" system has an amazing attach rate and million+ seller club members.
He is right, the Wii is mainly good for Nintendo (and maybe Square Enix with DQ). Normal 3rd party games do not sell well on that system.

Meh I was just agreeing with the guy who posted about it. I don't own it nor have I ever owned a sports game. Just 2 million in one month total is pretty good from statistics point. But for the year and consoles, you have Halo 3 taking that honor for the whole year I believe.
Oh and for most popular game, Burning Crusade without a doubt, if we include PC's. Was fun for 3 months!
[QUOTE="Riki101"][QUOTE="Sir-Marwin105"]Wow, the 360 got a huge boost from July.mwa
perhaps a combo of that and bioshock...although i never would have guessed that bioshock would actually move system sales
That would be Madden.I thought the talk last week was that MP3:Corruption supposedly outsold Bioshock. hmmmmmmm 218,000 is not even half of Bioshocks 490,000.DanthegamingmanWell thoses are august sales and MP3 came out in august 27th so it's like 218,000 copies sold in 4 days. Bioshock came a week before.
I could be wrong through.
[QUOTE="Mystikef"]Dude... I already told you I like the Wii. I like video games in general and have probably been playing them longer than you've been alive. Just because you are a fanboy... doesn't mean everyone else is too.I find it funny how you made one completely false statement (your original one) and now you have been fighting like mad to try to convince everyone that you were right.

Insulting is a very cheap way to try and win argument. That's sad man.
Listen dude... It was fun trying to debate with you, but I have ruled you undebatable. I don't have time for it.
Have fun gaming.

Good, I have the same sentiments about you being undebatable. Also, you said you've been gaming longer than I've been born. If that doesn't make you an old fogey, I don't know what does :D
For people saying 3rd parties software doesn't sell, what 3rd party software has really deserved big sales? Don't say Madden because the Wii version was seriously borked by EA. Madden 07 Wii was the best version last year and somehow EA managed to screw up a sure thing by making the controls worse and borking the online component.
RE4, although a port, has sold over 300k in america, 150 in Japan, and probably 200k in europe. Far surpassing Capcom's expectaions so if 3rd parties actually put effort(Or are actually good) in their Wii games and then market them properly they will be rewarded properly.
wow at mp3 sales.wiiwillwiiwill
its been pointed out several times that the game was only out for 3 days of august.

I expect it to rival bioshock 360 sales in NA and Europe. Not sure how popular it is in Japan. There is a chance for a million seller by name alone.
