Official August 2007 NPD Sales (VG sales up 46%)

I think what these numbers show more then anything else is this:

The Wii is not a primary home console.

Madden is a huge game, and alot of people take it seriously. They want to play this game very competitively, and they want to play it that way online. The Wii is selling like hotcakes, but from these numbers, what i see, is it's being bought mostly by people that currently own at least one other console, this gen or last. And when all these people want to get the new Madden they buy it for what they consider to be the primary system.

Lots of people still own PS2's and Xbox's, and alot of them also have Wii's. And when buying a game like Madden, they preferred to get it on the last gen system over the Wii. People that have 360 and PS3's bought the game for the newer consoles, because that is now the primary system for them.

What this means Wii may be more of a secondary console then even the Gamecube. Expect sales to taper off as the other two pick up more of the last gen owners that have not upgraded yet.

50 dollar 360 price cut boosted it more then a 100 dollar PS3 price cut.. Thats pretty interesting.

Many people said the price drop wasn't going to do much. I kind of laughed at that comment. I don't think next month will be any different. It should be 200K sales from now through the holiday I think.

For people saying 3rd parties software doesn't sell, what 3rd party software has really deserved big sales? Don't say Madden because the Wii version was seriously borked by EA. Madden 07 Wii was the best version last year and somehow EA managed to screw up a sure thing by making the controls worse and borking the online component.

RE4, although a port, has sold over 300k in america, 150 in Japan, and probably 200k in europe. Far surpassing Capcom's expectaions so if 3rd parties actually put effort(Or are actually good) in their Wii games and then market them properly they will be rewarded properly.

The problem is that most of the third party companies don't have any key games coming out for another month or two.They were not ready for the Wii to be a big..Well beside Dewy's Adventure but I don't expect that game to be high in sales, even if I plan to buy it

Sony drops the price of the PS3 by $100 and they can STILL only sell 130k PS3s, lol.

Maybe if they drop the price another $100 they can reach 150k/month, lollerskates.

And what about those lemmings? They, like the cows, like to use the "Wii is cheaper" excuse. But the 360 is now only $30 more than the Wii ($280 vs. $250), and the Wii is STILL destroying 360 sales by more than 100k. hahaha

I think the reason M$ dropped the 360 to $280 instead of all the way to $250 is so that lems could still use the price excuse. If they had matched the Wii's price and had still got beaten, what would they say?

For a second I thought the Ps3 was the top next gen system with how you laid it out :lol:
