Yes, despite there is a sticky up already, like usual.

I thought the demo was fantastic. It's not as scary as System Shock 2 (I'm comparing the first 30 minutes of gameplay of both), but it's still downright creepy. Reminds me of the psychological scares I give people at Spookers.
I was reading IGN's review, and I thought that for the most part it was a good review, except the closing comments. They went all fanboyish. They took Roger Ebert and Hideo Kojima's thoughts out of context. What they both believe is that video games can never reach the artistic level of film and literature -- they never saidgames couldn't be artistic.
" There is a structural reason for that: Video games by their nature require player choices, which is the opposite of the strategy of serious film and literature, which requires authorial control. "
"I am prepared to believe that video games can be elegant, subtle, sophisticated, challenging and visually wonderful. But I believe the nature of the medium prevents it from moving beyond craftsmanship to the stature of art. To my knowledge, no one in or out of the field has ever been able to cite a game worthy of comparison with the great dramatists, poets, filmmakers, novelists and composers. That a game can aspire to artistic importance as a visual experience, I accept. But for most gamers, video games represent a loss of those precious hours we have available to make ourselves more cultured, civilized and empathetic. "
I think Ebert is somewhat right. Personally, I think games can be artistic, but only to a certain extent. They're very much in the same league as those Goosebumps "Choose Your Own Scare" type books. They're just as fun, not as tightly woven.
In any case, I think Bioshock is going to own. And yes, I do think it's artistically wonderful.

Yeah, nobody is going to pay attention to that.
Well whoever posts any topics about the review on this board. They get a 3 day suspension (1 day suspension if you post in the thread). My prediction is a 9.5. But I was not liking how Jeff was talking about the game on On the Spot. He sounded as if he was going to give it a 6?!?!?!Halo2_Norad
What were his main issues? Did he say?

I read over on the IGN boards that they weren't. Not enough preorders, although preorders have skyrocketed since the release of the 360 demo. I already have the PC version. Just waiting on 2K to let me use it which is pathetic in its own right.

Not all Gamestop/EBs are releasing it at midnight. I asked the manager at my local Gamestop, and she said they weren't going to have one.

Yeah, tell me about it with having the game early.....I could have picked it up yesterday at Circuit City....but then I realized (thanks to some of the posters on here that I would ) Why bother because of that silly 1 time internet activation.

Too bad i already pre-installed Bioshock in my computer and got a queue for my 360 copy. If Steam fails or my PC explodes then I can wait for the 360, if my 360 gets RrOD'ed then ill play Bioshock from my PC. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is going to stop me from playing Bioshock.

why must Bioshock have such a cheap respawn system? I am going to love the game, but knowing that even if I die, my progress does not get deleted just cheapens the gameplay. I mean, how will Big Daddies be any challenge? Even if it kills you, you just respawn in real-time, wittle down the Big Daddy's health some more, and if it kills you again, you come back and wear it down some more. You repeatthis process until it dies. Isn't that what the Vita Chamber entails? I hope Iam mistaken on this. The overall gamplay could have been tweaked to accomodate checkpoints in the open levels. Even on Hard difficulty, it won't be much of a satisfying challenge.Mordred19
The lack of ability to die also pisses me off a bit as well, but there must be some consequence of some sort to accomodate it. Maybe a large amount of adam is deducted? Perhaps there's a cool unlockable for beating the game on hard without a single death? There's got to be some reason to live or I'll be upset.
The only other thing that I am slightly pissed about is plasmid tonic choices not being permanent. Makes the character a bit too flexible IMO but it's better than having them all at once.

360 version seems to have some sort of a soft filter, PC version looks a bit clearer. But both look great.

We'll see about minimal when I get to play it. I will have it running @ 1920x1080p 8-16xAA and 16xAF with everything maxed in DX10. I am sure that it will look significantly better.MadExponent

I know I will playing the superior version. Thats a given. I don't mind that the 360 is the lead platform, but that means nothing since the PC version will be the better version. I played the 360 version and it looked alright, but the controls are so clumsy that that alone forces me to get the PC version. I promise you though that when I get it up and running it will look ALOT cleaner than the 360 version. Textures will look better aliasing will look a TON better, and I will have 100% control over my aim whereas with the 360 controller I can expect to work ALOT harder to get my kills. BTW all that fanboyish pride of yours cracks me up. Just to put a little salt in your wound I have to ask...are you looking forward to playing Crysis on your 360? No? Aw sorry I forgot...360 isn't even capable of running it. :( BTW as fun as I am sure Bioshock will be it won't be GOTY. That title belongs to Mass Effect or Crysis...

You do realise the reason why 360 is the lead platform for Bioshock is because Irrational Games or now 2K Boston and Australia were already familiar with creating games on the PC and wouldn't require as largea dev team as a platform they don't know about.

Actually it is not the same game. It has a different PC specific interface. Wish it were that simple don't ya? I own a nice expensive car as well. I must be compensating for something right? I am an extremely outgoing guy. I get plenty of girls and it only gets better when I show them my ride. Hell a few of them are actually impressed by my computer and 42" LCD I use on it. I have no problem in the "size" department so what could I possibly be compensating for? I guess all that needs to be said is this...PC will ALWAYS have the better version of ANY high profile multiplatform and you can take that to the bank. I see no reason why I should play this game on my 360 when I know I can play it on my PC and have better graphics and also better gameplay due to the easier control scheme.

I see no reason why I should play this game on my 360 when I know I can play it on my PC and have better graphics and also better gameplay due to the easier control scheme.
lol the fact that u just had to defend urself like that and talk about the girls u get and how they like ur ride proves that hes right about you
Also...even though I could gives two craps, but Halo 3 for PC once it comes out will ALSO be better than 360. Graphics will look nicer and controls will be much nicer.MadExponent
yet i will have already been playing it for at least a year. most likely two. im done with Gears and pc gamers are getting it now so yea, if you want year old games thats great. but ill play them now thanks.
