This is just the Beta. The final release is expected to be 8v8, maybe even 10vs10.

Where did you get that idea? Halo reach's multiplayer will be capped at 16 players, as stated by Bungie on their website. And there's no reason, as for as I know, to expect Invasion will be 8vs8. Anyways, it's fine the way it is. The more the players, the less of an impact individuals have on a game, which means you often lose only because your teammates are terrible. Which is bad.

Bungie confirmed Invasion would be 8v8.

But it's important to note that Bungie has also stated that nothing is set in stone at this point.

No it isn't something that I would put in Arena, but it's a fun gametype that I don't mind playing in grab bag.

pistol clip should be 12. pistol/DMR should be 4 shot kills. make it happen bungie.

I played another match of it, it turned out I was wrong, Elites get needle rifle and plasma pistol, not a plasma rifle and plasma pistol. When I played as a Spartan I didn't really notice that big of an advantage for elites, but when I played as an elite I was able to notice a slight advantage. Faster speed + Dodge + Shorter time for shields to recharge = me getting out of a lot of deaths I would have suffered as a spartan. Though it is odd getting into a melee fight against spartans as an elite because they are so much shorter than you. To be honest though, It never actually felt too imbalanced. You brought something up, size differences between Elites and Spartans. It is awesome that Bungie did it that way! Assassinating Elites a Spartan is cool because you have to climb up them -- their size differences is also a great way to make Elites seem more alien.

But to talk about SvE again, I haven't played as Spartans yet, but it is pretty easy to win as an Elite.

You don't need to call anyone who disagrees with you a "noob".

I just think that he is saying that he is fine with the DMR anyway. 4-shots were what was frowned upon by most in halo 3, and if you make the DMR a 4-shot, it will be even more powerful.

are you serious? everyone loves the 4 shot. would be even better if the br had been 3. anyone who wants the skillful weapons to take a ton to kill simply can't use them. as it stands it takes longer to kill someone with headshots from the DMR than any spew guns like the AR or needler (which take no skill whatsoever). skill should be rewarded, like in past halo games.

the saving grace will be if we can modify weapon specific damage in forge. then MLG will be 3SK's again. yay.

I understand bungie wants to level the playing field. making it harder for pros and easier for joe's. but in halo I want to feel like I can totally destroy someone. I mean out shoot them so bad they shut off their console and go pout in the corner.

take yesterday for example. I got on halo PC and played a while. one game I made 3 people rage quit from totally rolling them. mmmmm halo.

The whole point of the DMR was the to make a weapon you couldn't rely on in all situations, but turning the DMR into a 4 shot you are just make most weapons useless.

I agree make the guns one shot stronger and it's perfect. Before someone complains. DMR and Pistol being 4 shot would not break anything. The Pistol can't go long range(as much as the DMR), and the DMR is pathetic close range. All the weapons are defined by range. Grenades are still great equalizers, and the melee hasn't lost its use. Making the DMR/Pistol/NeedleRifle just one shot stronger would be a slight but effective adjustment.

Yep. As-is the DMR/nerfle/pistol are pretty useless at-range -- unless you have a shooting gallery like the first phase of Invasion, it's too easy for an opponent to run to cover before you get that fifth shot in. I get that part of the reason is to put an emphasis on teamwork and smart play (whereas an above-average lone-wolf in H3 could completely run a game of TS with the BR), but it really limits the medium-long range weapon's usefulness (and it's all-but single-handedly ruined Sword Base).

I've had very little problems with the DMR being a 5 shot... A pistol as a 4 shot would be unfair, especially at close range. The AR will be completely useless. I've never had to much problems with the 5 shot... And the Pistol with controlled shots at medium range, and as fast as possible at close range> the AR every time.

I got to argue against making the Pistol/DMR/Needle rifle being any stronger. Especially the pistol - at close range - medium range it already edges out the Assault. I think as it is now it encourages team shooting. Two people shooting in tandem overrides the weaker power of these weapons and discourages single players from going off on their own and slowly picking the enemies off at range.

I'm happy for the change, honestly. Halo Reach seems to encourage proper teamwork even more than Halo 3, where spectacular players could carry the slack of the rest of their team.

Making the DMR/Pistol four-shot weapons would basically be Halo 3 all over again. The BR made Halo 3 very un-unique. Hardly anyone I saw in a BR game used anything besides the BR, Sniper Rifle, Rockets, and Spartan Laser. The way Halo: Reach is now, with the five shot DMR/Pistol and Loadouts makes it feel more like the first Halo, where any gun was useful in a way.

Did I have 2 crappy games, or is Network Test 1 laggy? I had 2 games with noticeable lag, then I jumped onto Invasion and it was fine, what gives?

Seems like it's living up to it's name :P the little notice said it was made to stress the system as much as possible but still be fun, though it's not so fun to play with lag.

I didn't get any lag (then again, i have FIOS ubernet so that probably helps), but i did notice that Generator Defense feels more "beta-ish" than the other gametypes. Not sure how to explain it, but it just isn't as smooth as the other stuff. I think each generator destroyed.defended should count as a point rather than it being win/lose based on getting all of them. So lets say Team A destroys 2 of the 3 in the first round. They get 2 points, Team B gets 1. Then when everyone switches sides, Team B blows up only 1 generator, earning 1 point while team A gets 2. The final score is 4-2 with Team A winning because they blew up/defended the most generators. In the current system this would just be a tie i think, so imo my idea is a bit more reasonable.

having same problem

I just played four games an hour ago. It's not very laggy anymore. Sometimes it'll drop the framerate (but very rarely), that's it.

Swordbase is just a flat out crappy map. All it does is promote camping and grenade spam.

In Invasion, should the Spartans really be able to go into our spawn and take the wrath? That seems pretty ridiculous to me.

At mid range (the range which you're MEANT to use the DMR at) it'll drop an AR-wielding opponent way before they can kill you. Reach takes more skill than Halo 3 because now 'pros' cant just fall back on the BR for use at every range knowing it can kill quicker than anything else save rockets if you can get the headshots. Now you need to be able to use multiple weapons and make good decisions about which to pull out at any given range.

Indeed, AR is very effecting at close range, but DMR destroys most at mid-range. Once their shields are down, one quick headshot and you're done. Does AR do more damage in the head though? How does it compare to body shots as far as power?

Nice sig Mitu! I feel like I've watched you progress as an artist, having seen most all of your sigs, and this one is certainly amaong the best. :) I particularly like the colors.

Reminded me of ODST Firefight, if I played with Americans it would lag like that.

wait how do you guys know they are using the coop netcode?

Bungie, go to the forums. The real reason they are doing this is because, well nobody wants it to lag in co-op, right?

:o Seems like it, if they have co-op netcode in matchmaking. Though I expected them to implement it after the ODST complaints.

I don't think that they had time to do that, I mean, 14 people coded and made ODST, and after they finished, they probably went right back to reach.

best kind was when it fooled you and made it look like input lag.

2 second reaction time is fun.:(
