Official Post-Microsoft E3 Conference Discussion Thread (Use it)

Everyone watching at my job reacted with a "WTF???" when MS announced Scene It.

"This is what MS comes up with for my $479 console??" said one of my coworkers.

For a game you have to hit the buzzer on which he even said while showing the controller... makes perfect sense, /rolls eyes. So $10 a controller, wireless at that, isn't worth it?

Well are you planning to buy it? I certainly wouldn't. But hey, if that's your type of thing all the more power to ya.

Do agree that MS had a lackluster showing. Especially with Sony gearing up it's big guns for the holiday season.

Expected much more from MS than Scene It and Bambi.

Really? The only people i've heard say that were die hard lemmings. Everyone else I know didn't expect it seeing how close it was scheduled to x07.. or would it be x08 now?

Man the Microsoft conference looked so cliched to the point of embarrasment.

Not as bad as the Sony crapfest last year but it runs it close, gives Sony and Nintendo a real good chance this year to steal the show.

That conference blew chunks. The highlights of the entire show were multiplats, which Microsoft were acting like were exclusives, lol. Namely, Assassin's Creed, COD 4, and RE5....all of which look better than Halo 3. Halo 3 looked good, but nothing extraordinary at all. Yet Microsoft smugly acts as if they have it in the bag because of that one game.

All in all....Sony will easily show up Microsoft this year because they are now the wolf climbing the mountain, and the wolf climbing the mountain is always hungrier than the one at the top. I am not being fanboyish either, lol, as I own a 360 as well. It is just easy to see that after that press conference, this years E3 is Sony's for the taking with their exclusives alone. Not to mention the price cut and Home.

Just being realistic here is all. Suddenly, the future looks alot better for the PS3 than most would like to give it credit for.

Yeah, especially since they do less than a standard controller. I don't see why they didn't make the game an XBL game for 10 bucks and use the standard controller.iunderstand

Because it's a party game. Very few people have 4 controllers at home. And a real 'buzzer' type of controller is great for games like these.

Wierdest part of the MS conference was the boasting about the sports games running "twice as fast" as last years version.

What was MS thinking putting all those EA sports games and The Simpsons also the list was full of multiplats!

The conference was far too safe. M$ didn't want to show off too much new things for some unknown reason. Still some of the games looked good but where was Alan Wake? As has all ready been said there was no big announcment, no MGS4 multi plat, no price cut ,no new titles*, X07 will be the place to see Xbox. Meanwhile Ninty and Sony are (hopefully) readying to blow the roof off E3.

And that Halo theme performance at the beginning went on for far, far too long.

* Viva Pinata and Scene-It? are a joke, M$ are being silly if they think they can win the "casual market."

First, yeah MS had a few Aces that apperantly were saved for X07.

Second, this was the first day of the show and plenty of time left for some surpises.

Third, Halo 3 was not shown to it's full effect and that is a wise move IMHO but never the less looks like it should be a blast to play in very wide open areas.

Forth, Bizarre is putting out some trully stunning visuals now that they have the time needed and PGR4 will most likely become the best looking racing game ever created upon it's release.

The sum of it all leaves me underwhelmed and MS knows it - conlusion; theres a whole bunch of things left to see at a later date and I'm okay with that.

If the other two console makers dont foul up, they could get alot of milage out of E3 and they better b/c MS is saving up and I have no doubt they will show & tell some big things not yet seen (by most ) before the 07 holliday season.

I had to turn that aweful Rock Band demo down on my tv... I thought my speakers were gonna blow. ugh.

But seriously, I think that what MS did was cater to a new E3 and for the first time, a television audience. They know that this holiday season is going to propell them past PS3 for a very long time or give Sony a chance to make up ground. They showed an AMAZING list of games that anyone with half a brain would be drooling over. Assassins Creed was a show stealer, while Mass Effect and Halo 3 did their "thing." I am dissapointed that we didn't get any "big" announcments but c'mon people, MGS4 is coming to 360 in a timed exclusive and we all know it. No big deal. Over all I'd give MS a solid B for their showing and Peter Moore a god aweful F for his guitar playing...

Don't dude.All they showed was some unkown loaction in Africa and a few people runing around in a cutscene. No gameplay. It was not interesting at all (just like the rest of the press conference)

The Good: Halo 3, RE5 teaser, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed.

The Bad: No price drop. No Mgs4. No surprises.

The Ugly: Scene it? Lots of multiplats and a lame attempt to make them sound exclusive.

RE5 was a teaser and that.

Seeing as unlike Nintendo and Sony, MS had nothing to prove this E3, it was exactly what I expected it to be: Very functional. They showed plenty of information on the games coming out this year, and confirmed 2007 will be a great year for Xbox 360 owners, but the problem is they showed virtually nothing new, other then a blatant rip-off of Nintendo's marketing and idea to appeal to non-gamers. And they still have the problem of not having a showman that's charismatic or particularly fun to watch, like Nintendo do with Reggie. It's evident in the way they switched announcers every few minutes, wheras Reggie would be able to have the stage for most of the show. It doesn't makes theirs a bad conference, just one that's a bit boring in between the trailers. I will say the intro was good, but it dragged on a bit long.

Overall, not a bad conference, it showed what I hoped for, and did it's job, but it didn't show anything really new and was a bit boring in places. Also Peter Moore is an awful singer, so that's taking away marks. I'll give it a 6/10.

I seriously :lol: when I saw that. Not only that but it's a tampered "improved" version not the original. WTF I play retro games to play them the way they were released. Screw Sonic 1 I own Sonic 2. ;)

I was disappointed with MS. It seemed like 80% of the talk was HaloHalo Halo. Makes it sound too much like a one game system.

And I know this has probalby been discussed before in this thread (but I didn't feel like reading it). Anyone else think that Assassins Creed demo was recorded? I cant believe they would leave it up to someone playing, considering their tight time frame.

Pretty much...Lets take the time to show you our line up for this year...We already know you have a fantastic line up. Tell us more about what we dont know. And not a single megaton...except RE5 trailer^_^ Other then that...It was a fairly boring conference. Not bad...just really didnt do anything new. Wasnt worse then SOny's 06...but not nearly as entertaining lol.

I have to say Sony is going to smash this one right though...Wii really doesnt seem to have any vibe for it going. And after this letdown...Sony could show one new game and win it.

All I know is for MS....X07 better be amuzing. We get that you want to show us thier years line up. Okay...Now deliver on the next year and beyond. We are talking Price drop(Should be as soon as possible or now), A peak at the next major XBL updated, An expansion on XBLA that includes games like Monoply as such, Atleast NG2 announce or next Team Ninja game. Score a good exculsive or two and make your own. A more info on Halo Wars, Alan Wake, Fable 2 etc.

That's probably a good thing. 360 had lots of vibe, but when it came time for E3, they discovered that they had used all their good announcements to generate vibe.

P.S. You should put a warning of what sort of spoiler your sig is. Did you get this from some sort of official source, or did you think of it yourself, because the idea is brilliant if so.

Kind of a guess there...it seems to be one of the common ones is all. I originally wanted to make it with a dozen spoilers from different things lol. But for now its just that hehe. And its my guess

Actually...I think they saved up the announcements for X07. They kept saying games out this year. The only one not show that is comming out was RE5 0_0 !!!! So it means they better have a dam good showing at X07.

It was not a bad showing either...something like 7/10. They showed what was comming out. I think it was just because people expected alot more. With E3 from last year and X06. Which both really delivered. This one felt kind of dull.

While I was more than a little let down in the big announcements department, I came away convinced that I'm going to be in the poor house this fall/winter. I think the conference served as a great reminder how many amazing games are coming out for X360 this year.

microsoft could havescoreda lot higher with this but they had made 1 huge mistake too much talking about Halo not enogh actually Halo

they started very strong imo with the live band and then the rock band demostration but in between everthing they showed they started talking bout Halo Halo this and Halo that but when it came down to the end all they had for us was a trailer:|

peter moore even said it himself we'll be able to play Halo3 11 weeks from now. only 11 weeks and all we get was a trailer? come onms why.

if u knew bungie wasnt gonna deliver the goods for E3 u shouldn't have made their game the centerpiece of ur conference.

Yeah I kept waiting for some Halo footage to blow me away. Didn't happen. Especially with all the Halo talk through out the conference. And I have the game pre-ordered! Come on start hyping me up for the darn thing!Bread_or_Decide

I thought Halo 3 looked very good...But then again the conference told me more than ever that I don't need a 360 because I get get all the games I want on the PC

That's not too bad then, but it's not fantastic either. I was expecting somewhere in the region of 7-8 million sold in the US, with another 6-7 million sold for the rest of the world.

Were there ANY surprises or announcements??? Where is the price drop? Where is the HD-DVD 360? Where is the new exclusivity announcement?

All the games are good and all, but the conference just lacked any buzz or excitement.

COD4 probably was the best game shown, imo.

Us Gears (360) fans are getting SCREWED. A whole new act. New multiplayer maps. New multiplayer mode. A level editor. Improved graphics. Probably dedicated servers (eliminating the freakin' bullet lag/host advantage). All to PC.
