I'm sure most of the intelligent posters have realized this, but PS+ is a essentially a discount card, or a loyalty program. It has a couple other nice features (full game trials, rental games, and rental add-ons), but at its core you invest money up front to get a discount on later purchases.
You pay $50 a year to get an extra discount on a changing list of Playstation Store items. If you're planning on buying a large number of items from the Playstation store, PS+ will probably save you some money.
PS+ is simply not a comparable service to XBL gold.
XBL gold is $50/year charge to access the online component of your Xbox 360 games, and it's not really even optional if you're like me and you play the majority of your games on line; it's a requirement. PS+ is a completely optional loyalty program.

What's the difference between Qore and PS+?
Qore offers features like early demos, betas, discounts, DLC, exclusive videos, premium avatars and themes. I'm guessing since Qore is part of PS+, PS+ offer those features because of Qore. Now take out Qore, what's left for the PS+ features?
[QUOTE="W1NGMAN-"][QUOTE="TehNubTuber"] This is a glorious post. Sony is basically paying your rent. What's not to love? MS and Live taketh. Sony Giveth. Tis the word of the Lord.Santesyu
Thanks Nub :P ...I can'tsay I seewhat's there to hate either man, seems like a really sweet deal to me.
wow.. I agree with above poster that is a good post. I know. I knew it'd be a lot but not $1200+queston: are all these options available worldwide? I'm in Asia and when I use my XBL certain contents aren't available here. If it's the same with this ps+ then I wouldn't bother with it.
I really don't see how someone could say PS+ is a bad deal. If you're into PSN titles and other forms of free content than I really don't understand what there is to not like. Like I've mentioned in other threads related to this topic, in the first month of PS+, I have gotten $32 worth of content for free content. I will continue getting free stuff now for another 15 months. The stuff I get for free I can play for more than enough time.
From the games I've already bought from the PS Store, I normally won't be playing them a year after I purchase them. PS+ gives me plenty of time to enjoy the free content that is offered. On top of that, I get discounts on games I get to keep even if I decide to unsubscribe.
Signing up for PS+ probably will end up saving me more money than I will spend. In my 3 years with a PS3 I've easily spent over $300 on games, add-ons, DLCs, themes, etc. I am all for getting stuff for free
This service is a complete ripoff. People need to stop comparing to a rental service. A rental service lets you choose which game you want and as many times as you want. This thing only gives you 48 games a year which none can be chosen by the consumer.veqturOnce again you are picking the one string and playing it loud. You get way more than what you make it seem.

PSN+ offers me nothing I want right now, I'll pass indefinitely, i want cross game chat & cloud storage support

But then that means you haven't been taking advantage of the service you paid for, like the discounted games and dlc's for example. I'm not gonna sit here trying to make you get this as I don't have a stake in it. You have a choice, if you think it will rip you off then don't buy it. Very simple.

Because that "one string" is the most important one. Out of all the games available this month...I am only interested in Wipeout, I don't care about the "Fat Princess" avatars and add ons. Warhawk DLC pack is dumb because that's a 3 year old game. The Infamous trail isn't anything special either because its only for1 hour so the demo (that anyone can DL) is more than enough. Now lets talk about the betas...throughout this whole year the PS3 got 2 betas (MoH and BC2) both of those you could get by just pre-ordering the game.
This service is a great idea but the fact that the content cant be picked by you is just plain retarted.
Like I said before. If you don't like it, don't buy it. This thread was made to stop the confusion and the flood of topics. Not to convince people to get it.Yes. I would like discounts on psn games so ill have made my money back in savings rather quickly. A few on the extra features also interests me.
PPL hating this service dont understand that its 1. Optional and 2. a very good deal if you like buying psn games.
We.... Are not paying for online...learn to read.its funny how cows think its ok for paying for online now, too bad its still not as good as LIVE

It's a very good service, getting a lot of content (games, add -ons, etc ) for a reduced price (it's not "free", since you are paying the subscription for that). But of little significance in the system wars. The_RedLion
50 Euro isnt alot of money especially for a years worth of service, as i've said in regards to XBL, if you feel you're getting your moneys worth, you're getting your moneys worth.
And right when i started downloading LBP i feel i've gotten my moneys worth :D

That's correct. It has nothing to do with my post, but correct nonetheless.[QUOTE="Snugenz"][QUOTE="The_RedLion"]It's a very good service, getting a lot of content (games, add -ons, etc ) for a reduced price (it's not "free", since you are paying the subscription for that). My opinion on PS+ has swayed to and fro,but the more I hear the less impressed I am.
Basically its a pretty crappy rental service?
I mean you don't even get to choose what games you get to download.Don't get me wrong the "try before you buy" thing they have is a pretty cool idea, and I'm sure they'll be other perks and benefits, but atm I'm not sure I'm willing to part with my cash on this one.
We aren't paying for online  We're paying for gaming goodness! Have fun paying the same amount to rent online play on the games you already bought :lol:its funny how cows think its ok for paying for online now, too bad its still not as good as LIVE

Incorrect. You also keep all the games and DLC you bought at the PS+ discounted rate. If you buy enough games and DLC over the course of a year, you could easily make back thte $50 yearly subscription fee.

I'm jealous.. I want LBP on my hard drive. Hopefully they will bring it to the US in the coming months as well.
I've noticed that even diehard Cows on the internet are starting to question the point of PSN+KittenWishesSo I guess you havent even gone back one page in this thread. ps+ is about the discounts. Its like investing in an EB edge card.
I've had a bit of time with it now so for 50 Euro i got LBP, Wipeout HD, 2 Dynamic themes, Destruction Derby and discounts on some LBP dlc (from 2.99 to 1.50), i havnt tried any of the free minis nor have i tried any of the trials.
And i still have nearly 12months left of it.
Definitely worth the money imo.
