One thing for sure, PSN download speeds are horrid compared to Xbox Live's.

Just do a bandwidth test on your PS3 in the network menu. You will probably run like crap. I have a 35/35 Fios connection and I work for Verizon Fios and I test the same lan port for 35/35 everytime and then put it on the PS3 and do the bandwidth test and I get like 7mb 2mb up if im lucky, lol, and I run like it. IF I go to the brower in PSN I run 25/25 which is still 10 less than I should be running but ok, no wonder why it takes me 30 mins to download modracers and like 3 minute to download the same size file on xbox live, and its consistant. Also this bandwidth problem that I just told you about is a "known" problem and no update has yet been installed to fix or patch the problem. Some PS3's actually run at what they are supposed too, but the only way is to check yourself. Another of many reason why Xbox live is better than PSN.

well as you know you cant browse on the 360, but you can tell when you download the same size file 10x's faster on Live, thats not including the time you have to install it on the PS3 as well when thats down seemlessly through the xbox.

The fact that you download demos, play multiplayer games PSN without subscription makes it far better than XBL IMO. Speed is fast enough plus there is a web browser and PS Home. Enjoy your faster speed for $50 a year :P

Yep it is true. XBL download speeds are much faster than psn. Ask anyone who have both.

Updates take forever on the PS3 but downloads are about on par with XBL.

I live in a different mindset, 1.5 mb is laughable to me, im at 35/35 consistant, once you get to these speeds you dont get back. I get demos in 3 mins on xbox live, on PSN it takes 35 minutes for some reason. I guess we have different preferences but thats maybe because in my area they offer 35/35

its a known problem, Sony knows about it, hopefully they will patch it, keep checking after an update to see. I tried everything as well and did my research only to find out Im out of luck until Sony fixes the problem. Unless I wanna pay 300 for another PS3 and HOPE that I get the correct speeds.

I totally agree with that. It took me 1 hr to DL the Dante's Inferno demo on XBL and 3 hours on PSN.

Yeah, the download speeds are pretty bad. What's worse is that downloads will pause depending on what game you're playing...

mine usually downloads at or around a peak speed of 1mb/s i don't see how that could be considered slow. i can usually download a several gig demo in about an hour.

Both have the same download speeds it's not 07 anymore you know.

To bad payments have nothing to do with downloading speed for demos.... knowing because I canceled gold a little while back and still download demos with silver ;)

Both are abysmally slow, then. I get significantly faster speeds on public file hosting sites than I do on on XBL..and I don't even pay money for that. Compared to my Usenet speeds (only fair to compare paid services), XBL is lucky to see 1/5th those speeds.
