Seriously, what is there not to like about this service. Can you feel it, the new gaming era is coming soon. Say goodbye to piracy, no more hardware problem/ upgrades, possibly beyond crysis-quality games, and hopefully helping the video games to become mainstream. Please people, don't reject ideas just because it's much different from what we've been used to. It's things like this that will help gaming to prosperity. hoplayletsplay
Some people find it hard to accept change, and this is a DRASTIC change, we'll see how this goes, its very interesting.

Yeah, now if we just got the same kind of internet as Japan, with their fibre optics, this would be the ultimate service, its really awesome on its own though, I'm not quite sure what the haters are afraid of, sure I play Crysis in a higher resolution then that too, but that doesn't mean its right to constantly point out "but but its only 720p!!!". Looking forward to where this goes.[QUOTE="Nagidar"][QUOTE="hoplayletsplay"]Seriously, what is there not to like about this service. Can you feel it, the new gaming era is coming soon. I have a 7MB, which is about equivalent to maximum download speed of about 800 kb/s (Rogers High Speed), so I could definitely use it according to the article. But I just don't like the idea of digital distribution at this point in time for NA. At this point in time 1080p 7.1 quality just cant be streamed.
North America (and more so Canada) doesn't have the infrastructure for online only distribution. All of North America needs to upgrade there lines, and I don't see that happening any time soon. Honestly I want something like this in ALL of North America (or at least a 100Mbps) and I want all these stupid Canadian monopolies (Rogers) to be done with, I want some competition from American and European companies /rant.

Confusion? Simplicity....
This is a huge gaming revolution people.
Seriously.
And we are going to be in the thick of it.
It changes everything....

Not if you want to play console exclusives or if your connection isn't good enough.
Who cares? The middle man has been CUT OUT. Hardware is redundant. It all boils down to your connection. Jeeez folks this is effing HUGE.... The very notion of it was massive. Well the product seems to have been designed with the USA in mind. I cant see this effecting people like us Australians for years to come. We are on the "internet goat track"Internet is pretty darn slow in Australia too, but my dad is like using the 100mbps internet service in Hong Kong. hoplayletsplay
Tell me about it. I'm paying $69 a month for a measly 1500k/256k connection. I hope this thing gets off the ground, but my internet is slow as hell.

But Japan gets 50Mb. :PThe main problem with this (as I see it) is obvioualy, it's highly dependent on your internet connection, which is inherently unreliable. What happens if you get crazy packet loss during a crucial boss fight? What happens if your internet service goes down completely? No more gaming for you.
And of course, this thing isn't going to work on the road unless you have a 3G card and even then it'll probably be laggy and horrible, not to mention cost a fortune in bandwidth bills.

thats crazy, my monthly internet fee is $60 for 8mbps..... hmm... im beginning to appreciate my local ISP rite now. btw, do you guys think that ping will have a huge impact on this? when I said impact I mean like.... lag for us who dont live/live near the U.S.[QUOTE="hoplayletsplay"]Seriously, what is there not to like about this service. i am finding it damn near impossible to accept, my head is reeling, i like having a console, and i like getting my games on disc from the shop, i could accept having a console and downloading the game to my hardrive, but this is definitely not my cup of tea, if they stop making physical media or i can't download the whole game to my console/pc then i swear, i'm going to quit gameing or stay retro, i don't play my 360 online purely for the reason i don't want to have to rely on anything except the console and the games i put in it, this service places reliance on having fast enough broadband and the ability to pay for said internet, i don't have to pay a monthly fee or rely on the internet to play my 360 and that's the way i like it.[QUOTE="Nagidar"][QUOTE="110million"] Yeah, now if we just got the same kind of internet as Japan, with their fibre optics, this would be the ultimate service, its really awesome on its own though, I'm not quite sure what the haters are afraid of, sure I play Crysis in a higher resolution then that too, but that doesn't mean its right to constantly point out "but but its only 720p!!!". People on here rag on the Wii about it's graphics when the Zeebo is less powerful than the PS2. Then the control looks has bad as the Classic controller on the Wii.Don't doubt the Zeebo. Well it is due for "new markets". I guess extremely low price point is the real pitch here. They do have their target market down pat.Don't doubt the Zeebo. i forgot to add earlier, this system is illegal in my country (UK), it is against the law to sell a product that doesn't work unless it is attached to a service, for example, if i don't pay my virgin bill, they can't cut me off, i own the decoder and they have to keep supplying me with freeview channels, with this service you buy the product (game) but you have to pay an isp and a monthly subscription fee, according to the law i must be able to play that game without paying for a service to do so, i actually had MS on this last year over the DLC on my 360, because i couln't play shivering isles unless i was online, after my 360 RROD, they promptly refunded my money (real mony not MS points) without question.delta3074I'm sure there would be a legal loop hole or something. Details on the system few right now, when the site goes live in 12 odd hours, then we will get more of an idea of how distribution systems might work - as well as ownership.
50 down 20 up at home fios is to great. If you don't have a fast internet connection (more than 1.5MB) expect your games to look like crap. I am pretty sure no one here has over 3 MB.

My thoughts excacly when I saw the news. The future consoles will be the size of a mp3 player. The only thing I don't like about it is the possibility of a monopoly. Then there is no motivation for further developing of the product.
Nintendo is the only console that would survive such a change. Their innovation proved to be more usefull than expected.

erm... I have a 10mb connection... 1.5 is just about your bog basic dsl connection
You guys ar confusing things. Nobody has a 20MB connection. If anything, it is a 20Mb download, like what I have. Big difference between bits and Bytes.I just read the developer interview and realized that this will allow crappy PCs to run games great ... I take everything I said back.
This could take PC gaming to the next level for those that don't know how or don't want to get the latest gaming PCs.
This service has my support; to the fullest.

This idea is freaking incredible, and it just took what my prediction of next gen gaming was and gave it a vicious beatdown. Of course though due to it's ambition, there's a big chance that it could come riddled with problems when it's released or worse yet just might be a complete failure. But if done right, this will drastically revolutionize gaming.mo0ksiI see two problems.
First, where's the revenue stream needed to fund all these "gaming" servers? Each client would have to have access to their own "virtual console" that transmits and receives near-realtime.
Second, what about the state of the Internet in the US? Sure, the big cities are pretty much pat, but what about the rest of country, who is perhaps even lucky to just have dialup?
[QUOTE="lolfaqs"]Didn't say 360 there... hmmmI won't buy a next gen console that doesn't have discs. If all consoles go DD next gen, I'll be more than happy to collect games for NES, SNES, PS2, PS3, Wii, and GCN.
-Master_St3ve-
Any game I might want to play on the 360 is a game I can get for PC, and I don't buy defective consoles.
I have 15MB/s. No that isn't a typo.[QUOTE="kingman03"]

I'm intrigued by this service; if it can really deliver lag-free gaming, it will be an extremely compelling value proposition.
yeah, and you are the only one in your town.Good luck, you will be nickeled and dime. Charged by the minutes you play.On Live is the coolest idea ever lol, that way there'd be no need to upgrade every year, god its annoying

well that's not entirely true halo 3, gears 2, crackdown,PDZ, forza 2,kameo and viva pinata are just a few you can't play on the pc, but i completely agree with your earlier post, as i stated earlier if i can't buy physical media for my consoles, then i'm either going to give up gaming or i'm going retro, and i know the 360 is a tad unreliable, but i would rather have a dodgy console than this on live thing, i don't like it at all, i want a cartridge or disc with a nice box hell i will even go back to tape games , something i can hold in my hands, i hate to be a party pooper, but i really hope this doesn't take off, although blu ray isn't really needed now, it's a better future than this.I have 15MB/s.
