Its never a good thing when a company closes down.. hope everyone affected will find new jobs quickly.
wish them luck
Were the games you bought through OnLive tied to OnLive? I never paid any attention to the thing so I really don't know how it worked. Basically are the games anyone bought for the service gone after OnLive closes down?dragonball3900
The email floating around mentions a new company will form and games will still be available.

Onlive is garbage, that's why Sony didn't bought it. Gaikai is the future, as is cloud gaming in general
The OnLive employee has sent a "recall" message on the email. Now what does that mean?
Update from his twitter.

They're the same thing...

Onlive's DCC says that's not true at all.

Was to be expected,tbh...
But it may be possible the company is facing some internal issues. This rumor had to be based on something...
Well I can't imagine them being very successful, their entire service revolves around having an excellent internet connection, which very few people actually have.[QUOTE="Rocker6"]

Yes they are,the differences are minimal...
Gaikai is better just because Sony bought them,a typical fanboy mindset...
Before the aquisition news,I'd wager you barely even knew Gaikai or Onlive existed...

And the entire world, you forget that not everyone is willing to pay extra for a fast connection... It may seem that in SW a lot of people have good connections but in the real world this is not true at all.so what does this mean for the people that purchased games from Onlive?LP4EVA2005
When it does go down, people will lose access to their games because they were rentals and software that would not run on our PCs.

That's the real issue with OnLive's business model. No way to download and run the software locally.
Imagine is steam had a the ability to play all of your games from the cloud yet still be able to download them and play them locally? I would love that.
This is horrible news![QUOTE="Phoenix534"]

Yeah,if they truly went out of bussiness, that'd arguably be positive for the industry...
People would get a first-hand experience how risky and crappy cloud gaming is...

Cloud gaming is the future and should be pushed. I'd love it were it to get up to a better standard than at present. Anyway, it looks like this all a bunch of rumours - OnLive saying to numerous sites that they are NOT closing. and Michael Pachter tweeted this just now: "Michael Pachter: The OnLive story seems odd to me. I know them pretty well, and financing not an issue. It must be a changed strategy to an all IP model"[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]

Not only that, but you're limited to playing with only OnLive users and not any other PC versions.
Wouldn't be a bad idea, but I only see that being popular with laptop people who don't want their entire Steam library hogging their HDD space.
Hermits are desperate, they know their gaming rig will become obsolete.
Prepare for cloud gaming haters
