I have not preordered this game, but after playing the beta, I understand why people may canceled. There are some major issues that is not even related to game-design, but rather the user interface:
I started the game and was surprised that it loaded my browser and needed a plug-in. really... I need to bloat my bloody browser to play this game? Fine I install the plug-in and join a server and wait... and wait... or wait... it opened the program but it was minimized by default... OK. So where do I set my controls and graphics? I cant... Why the hell not? So I pick a class and spawn into the game. NOW i can press escape and change all my settings. Lovely, I have to stand in a place and be a free target while I set up my controls and settings. I was killed 4 times. Oh yeah... when you get killed and are in your settings, you EXIT the settings and have to choose your class and spawn, HOW ANNOYING. Thank god it saves all the controls I changes so far, but after the 4th time, I gave up since it didnt seem like I needed to set up controls for vehicles anyway.
Once I started playing, it was an enjoyable experiance.
... Until you need to exit the game. Its in that same menu, so you cant exit while waiting to spawn or when a new round starts. Unless you press alt-4. That kills the program, so who knows what was saved and how that was handeled by the server.
This is BY FAR the worst interface I have ever experianced in a game in my life. Web-based server browser makes sense, but it was executed so horribly. No #$%@ people will want to configure their controls before entering game, let alone spawning. WHY interupt the user in the settings when he is killed? WHO THE HELL IS GETTING PAID AT DICE FOR DESIGNING THIS CRAP?
