I didn't even try to play MP last night. I started Halo CE campaign and its pure bliss. Haven't played 3 or 4 yet. I'll try to jump on MP after my late class tonight.

I’d like to take a moment to address the state of matchmaking in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and tell you what we’re doing about it.

Players have expressed frustration at poor matchmaking times, or bad experiences in general. This is something we are working 24/7 to isolate and fix. Since launch, we have done a number of daily server-side tweaks to improve this experience and our data indicates these adjustments have helped considerably, but the state is still far from where it needs to be.

Over the past 48 hours, we believe we have identified the primary matchmaking issue, and are working on a solution right now. In the meantime, we’ll be rolling out additional tweaks over the next days to further improve the experience while we ready this solution. We are monitoring the data and working on tweaks that should continue to improve your matchmaking experience while we prep. In addition, we’ll be releasing a game Content Update tomorrow that will address non-matchmaking related issues. An additional measure you will see take effect today, is that we’ve decided to trim the hopper list to allow us to drive population to those that are functioning the best – this will serve to further increase the speed with which you find games. We are doing everything we can on an hourly basis to improve the experience, while we work on our solution. In the meantime, we’ve found a few things looking at the data that can help you a little as well. We’re seeing successful match times from anywhere from 15 seconds to 4 minutes. 4 minutes is a long time to wait for a match, but don’t quit out too quickly as it will come. If you haven’t found a match within about 4 minutes, please exit the search and restart, as this will reset the parameters and increase the likelihood of entering a match. I realize this isn’t ideal, but it’s temporary while we sort things out.

I’d like to personally apologize to you all for the current situation. I can assure you we’re attacking this from all directions from 343 Industries to the Xbox platform, and we won’t rest until it’s what it should be. People are reporting improvements across the board, which is great, but we’re not backing down until we finish this fight.

Here’s a bit more information on what to expect next week in terms of MCC updates:

• Daily server-side tweaks to continue to improve time to get into games
• A Content Update tomorrow that addresses some campaign fixes and scoring issues

The game is partially broken and it still gets an 8 on the revised score?
Also,in the grand scheme of things this means jack shit,the 9.5 review is the one on metacritic and that wont change. Rushing reviews out of hype is one of the many problems game sites have.

Just a heads up. The best exclusive game so far this gen is Sunset Overdrive. IMO. I'm sure many people on here will agree with that.

PS. Im not even playing the Halo 4 playlist, I'm playing BTB which has maps from all games.

Same here, started with the Halo CE campaign and took short breaks inbetween levels to play a few MP matches. Just finished the silent cartographer, this game is timeless

I have to echo the same question others have brought up in this thread, and that is how the hell did they put out a 9.5 review and THEN renig when the multi-player has apparently been screwed from the beginning. Really kinda kills their review, especially since the game is still getting a freaking 8 despite one half of it being busted...

Wonder what the **** it is with all the difficulty in getting online shit to work properly this gen. Still seething after the ridiculous Evolve "Alpha" on the PS4, where we not only got the alpha late, but even when they finally "fixed" it and rolled it out it was STILL completely fucking broken. Literally only managed a single successful game despite putting in hours trying to play that PoS...

Iv played for hours and the worst I had was a 2 second buggy audio loop on CE

and a 2 multiplayer disconnects in four hours...in the lobby too...not even in game. This is nowhere near the 5club level of fail.

Exactly, I've played numerous online matches(matchmaking) since launch, and yes sometimes the wait was long, but I would back out and try again...once in a game it's great, and the connection is superb. Custom matches work fine, you just need to round up a few friends. The GTA5 launch was more disastrous than this, If I remember correctly you could not even enter an online game at launch, at least with MCC you alternatives at hand.

I have not encountered any single player bugs in the game, but I'm only on chapter 4 of Halo CE(amazing playing this co-op)....I expect these issues to be fixed soon, not worried about that in the slightest, now it's time for some Dragon Age :)

they are a joke review site anyway but this kind of seems like a continuation of the thread I created earlier today. It seems a bunch of review sites jumped out and gave Halo MCC AAA reviews without even testing it's playability and GS is taking the low ground and waiting til after a patch is released before reviewing even though the game is now out and on the shelves.

Props to Polygon for reevaluating their review to reflect the full experience a gamer will get if they go buy the game now but shame on them for just slapping AAA on it because it was Halo.

On GS's end, they aren't as bad as sites like poly for reviewing before testing a game before release, but they are guilty of double standards in holding off giving a review even after a game is released because of "promised" fixes.

GS didn't hold off for Ubisoft to get their game straight before slapping down a 7.0 score for Unity and that goes for many other games for as well. They need to have some kind of consistency if they are going to make exceptions for certain games.

Xbone can't handle a remaster of games from 10 years ago, no wonder they have to release halo 5 at 720p.

I havent had any time to play multiplayer with all the CE co-op goodness I've been playing so I wouldn't have a clue what the matchmaking is like. The only "bugs" I've encountered are the achievements one (where they dont show up on screen) and the input lag for the person not hosting. That's it, that's all the Halo:CE bugs I have experienced and I've put in just over 8 hours into the campain. I wouldn't say the campain is broken at least.

Yep i think reviews should be made when the game is actually out and you can get a real feel of how it work online to every one rather than 100 people,at least for any game that has multiplayer.

Is the reason gaming-age score the game like 50 something,and lemmings here cry about it,if the game is broken don't complain about the score it gets those high night confirm that no matter what some sites will just give away 9 or higher to Halo even if it is broken and full of problems.

All reviews should reflect this, there's no excuse to release Halo in such a state. I'm almost done with the first Halo campaign and suffered only one minor audio big during 343 Guilty Spark (no gun audio for about 15 seconds) so it's obvious the issues are found on multiplayer mostly.

I can't recall any other Halo game releasing in such a terrible shape before. Even Halo 2 worked damn well online out of the gate.

I wouldn't be surprised if it scored an 8 at GS now.

They very well may do the 8 at this point. I myself would give it a week to see where it's at. If they're are no improvements by then.. 8 it up.

I can understand the score. It is quite frustrating trying to play online mp... but once it is fixed, the game is 100% epic. I've had a run of multiple online games in a row and it was awesome so hopefully they fix it asap.

Translation: Wait till Xmas or new year to buy.

IGN took the plunge and finally posted their review, 9/10 despite the multiplayer troubles, which is basically the only negative they noted. Anwyays, I have not read the full review, but for me it seems fair because matchmaking is indeed the only negative I've encountered in the game so far. How many games had multiplayer issues the fist few days of launch and didn't get their review scores penalized for it, I've lost count....if they want to start punishing games scores for rough online starts, I'm OK with that as long as they do it for all the games.
