Yeah, imagine you made a great product. One person buys it then trades it in. Suppose this happen 5 times. 5 people bought your game yet you only got money for 1. You wouldn't be happy about that. It accomplishes the same thing as pirating.

Cecil7 is one of the more ignorant consolites around. He can't accept the facts. He has yet to say anything of truth in this thread. He actually just tried to claim that gaming on PC's is a pain. Put game in, install, play. Yeah, that really is a pain.

Also, consolites fail to realize one thing and they never address it. If PC gaming is doing so poorly (dying, as they like to put it), then why do the number of quality games and exclusives dwarf what's on any console?

You simply cannot always trust people that try to analyze the market situations that they are in, even if they did in many ways help create it. That said, you also can't take one person's or company's opinion and apply it universally as you seem to be trying to do here.

People forget that 'none' of the platforms are as important as they used to be, do you think Playstation is as powerful as they were with the PS2? Every platform is losing exclusives; developers are looking at the market as unified rather than separate systems.

That he is talking about a cross platform strategy should make his comments clearer. Three platforms, two of which are consoles, don't you think a third of their audience is going to take less priority over two thirds? 360 isn't more important than PC, PS3 isn't more important than PC, 'consoles' as a single group will take higher priority in game development.

I think you'd find that technical innovation would almost grind to a halt; new hardware would become important only once every new console generation. Without PC gaming to drive AMD and nVidia, console tech would evolve much more slowly.

i never thought i would prefer an fps or a racer on a console rather than a PC.

But x360 did the shift for me, it offered impressive online and comfortable controllers that it became obvious it's a better gaming platform than the PC.

i guess most of the people who still prefer PCs over consoles are either Wii only / ps3 only owners. As those platforms still a bit behind in terms of controllers & online.

Fair point. i think for people like myself, a keyboard and mouse is still the only option. for racing games, i prefer a wheel and to be honest wheel isn't going to fit easily in my living room.

I like the 360 controller, and use it play certain platform games and arcade racing games on the pc like flatout ultimate carnage. but for an fps it wasn't good, tried bioshock and kane and lynch and playing the games with mouse was so much easier and less frustrating.

There's going to be less third-party exclusives for any platform, period. Making games has become so expensive that exclusives on either Xbox, Wii, PS3 or PC are financially unstable.

There is a differance. Ken did hardware and Carmack does software.

Hardware is nothing without the software. Plus Carmack makes games. So he knows how well they are doing in the market.

Ken got fired. Carmack is still going.
