And MS locks out your real life disc game, you don't really own Halo or Gears or COD or any of your other games, you just own a portion and MS owns the rest, and you pay them so you can "borrow" your game from them for a year.

ShadowMoses900

I'm rocking Silver at this moment, and I can still play every 360 game I own. The fundamental difference between games/content you buy while subrscribed to Gold and while subscribed to Plus is that you still have access to every game if you no longer pay for Gold, the same cannot be said for Plus.

And I do think you understand this, you just feel you need to keep up with the façade.

how much is ps+

johnnyblazed88

It's cheaper than an XBL Gold subscription.

It's $17.99 for 3 months or $49.99 for a year.

It will pay it'self off within the first month or two. Right now the total value of the "free" (at no additional cost really) games adds up to over $290 in value. That is a hell of a great deal, and that's JUST FOR THIS MONTH! Imagine the rest of the year! That's even more great deals!

And there is A LOT more to it then just "free" games. You get special discounts up to 75% off on some games, free themes and avatars, free cloud strorage, automatic updates and tropy syncs, exclusive beta access, and more!

One would have to be a complete and total idiot to hate on it, it's easily one of the most pro consumer deals in the history of gaming. Only reason why I wouldn't recommend it to someone is if they don't like to download, however for everyone else it's a must.

To be fair, you do keep "some" of your Plus games. I could still play Sonic even after my sub ran out for the month from the welcome back program. Though it's not every game mind you, and they don't tell you what ones they are either.

But none of that matters, the reality is that XBL is just a rental service too. Just for your real life disc games. You can't fully play Halo or Gears or COD or most other games without XBL Gold, in fact those games I mentioned arn't even worth owning in the first place without XBL Gold.

Their SP's just suck, it's all about the MP for them. Plus destroys XBL in every single way. It gives you so much more for your money it's not even a fair competition. There is no way around this.

I don't see why I have to explain this, it's just common sense. All one has to do is look at what Plus offers and then look at XBL Gold, it becomes obviously clear what the better deal is.

You can't defend XBL Gold fee when you compare it with Plus, XBL simply gets it's ass kicked.

You are unlocked out of the multi-player portion of the game, which is HALF the game. You PAID full price for a game, and so should be giving the FULL amount of content, right? And pleasw answer that as a gamer and not as a deluded M$ representative. BUT when you buy a 360 game, you only get half the game, but its for the FULL price. So 360 games are full price for half the game. You can only unlock the other half the game by paying ANOTHER 60$ which is a yearly cost, and adds up significantly over time. So in.summary, just in order to get half the game you originally paid for, you have to pay the XBL fee. In that way, XBL is basically extortion. M$ is extorting its dumb fanboys, and they just accept it, and will even have the audacity to defend their corporate raping at the hands of M$ over the internet. Its lemming insanity

Also, by that logic, when your gold membership runs out, you're back to being unlocked out of half the game you paid full price for. Except that the xbl service is already a scam to begin with, while regardless, PSN+ saves you a ton of money in the long run. On XBL you LOSE money, on PSN+ you SAVE money. BIG difference

I got a 360 first this gen before I got my PS3, and I always felt like I wasn't getting the full experience of my games becuase I didn't have XBL. I couldn't get all the achievements, I couldn't do all the content. Halo 3 and COD and Gears, all high scoring games, felt like a waste of money to me because I couldn't play the full experience of them. They didn't offer enough value to warrent a purchase just for the SP, it was only about the MP.

I felt left out too, my friends could play online and fully have access to their games on PS3 and XBL Gold, but not me. They could play with their friends, download DLC and updates that fixed bugs, get all the achievements, basically get the full experience out of their games. Unlike me because I didn't pay for XBL and didn't have the over priced WIFI adapter either.

I could buy Live now that I'm an adult and have a job, but it isn't worth it. I have played on XBL plenty of times, I am familar with the service and it's features. Only advantages I see is faster updates and cross game chat, other then that there is no difference between them. And to anyone with a brain they know FREE is better then Cross Game Chat (the fast updates are free for everyone, so that isn't what your paying for with a Gold subscription.)

XBL is a rip off, plain and simple. Plus is the much better value and deal. Only an idiot would argue otherwise. All your paying for anway with a Gold sub is online play (free everywhere else) and cross game chat, (free on PC and Vita) oh and access to pay for Netflix again (only have to pay once on other consoles).

That's it. Everything else is free to silver members.

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"][QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="bbkkristian"] because other people have confirmed it?

[QUOTE="bbkkristian"]Yeah and then if PS+ runs out, you can't play those games. That's what they don't tell you.RavenLoud
They tell it to you for every single game when you get them on the store every single time. It's actually a bit annoying to click through them.

They're pretty up front about it. And I have to question a person's intelligence when they expect to keep these games for $18/3 months or $50/year. You're getting a really good deal even when considering you're 'renting' them, which doesn't do the service justice. Most people who will buy or have already bought PS+ mainly for the games probably won't unsubscribe after all the quality content Sony has been recently introducing to the service. They really stepped up their offerings.

It seems like a good deal, but its only short term. If I want to go back and play those games in 5 years I won't be able to. At least with XBL MS has weekly deals, and once you buy something, Its yours. No subscription required.Plagueless

Umm....Plus has deals too, and if you buy a game on discount as a Plus member you keep that game no matter what, even if your Plus runs out. You keep everything you get with Plus except for the "free" games (really games at no additional cost). You keep these games forever as long as you stay a Plus Member.

You keep your themes, your discounted games you bought, your free avatars ect...everythihng but the "free" games. Dude there is no way around this, XBL gets it's ass handed to it by Plus.

You can't defend the XBL fee anymore. It doesn't even come close to offering a similar value to what Plus gives you. Plus SAVES you money, XBL TAKES your money.

It's clear what the better deal is here.

I actually signed up for Plus because of this. MY harddrive is crying as it is running out of space.... 320gb isn't enough!!!! Need to have a 1terrabyte drive or more if possible. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know about the Oddworld, darkesiders, motorstorm, etc... I didn't see them when I went to the plus section (please tell me those games are for North America) I see games not on your list like Tomb raider, sideways new york , etc..

So I don't see Darksiders FOR FREE:evil:

lazerface216

that may be EU.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you could change your region on PSN? I could have sworn I remember hearing about people that did that before. I know people on PSN from the UK and they get American deals all the time, they even have games that are only on the Japan service.

I don't know if you can still do it anymore and I never tried it myself, but I think it might be possible to change your region to UK and download the Plus games from there.

Use the cloud storage, it comes in handy. I have 320 GB and while I still have plenty of memory left on my hard drive, I still recommend using the cloud storage for some of the games. Like Rachet and Clank which is 16 GB, Cloud Storage takes care of that for me.

And sorry, but only some of those games are in the North American store. But who knows? Next month they might bring some of those games to the North American Plus section and vice versa.

Gamefly is a ripoff if you know that most games are ~$40 on launch and even as low as $10 after 6 months. It's not like Gamefly gets all games on day 1. Then you account for people who use the service to play MP games. If they like the game, they'll play for a few months, wasting any reason to get them through the service. The only way I could see the service being worthwhile is if I play a bunch of older games and swap them for another disc quickly -- and that's assuming the shipping is fast. I don't think most people will want to get done with a game in only in a few days, unless they're trophy/achievement hunters.

I just rented max payne, loved it, kept it and only payed the $45 difference and they sent me a brand new box and shipped red faction gurilla which got here today. If i wanna keep it its only $10. OP's list is for EU. US is pretty good, but I can see why a lot of people would prefer the other. There are 2 more games in the collection for US PS+ subscribers, though. It seems like the EU Blog did a better job of showing how the catalogue feature will work. It doesn't appear to work the same for both regions.

You might be saving $200 compared to what you used to pay before, but you can also save a lot if you look for deals on sites like CAG. Best Buy has been having some amazing deals for a while. They had Rage for $5, Batman: AC for $10, Assassin's Creed:Revelations for $10(this one is a current deal, I think) when combined with a coupon from their @Gamer magazine. The magazine costs something like $6/issue or $15/year(10 issues?). That's only the very recent deals. I have been trying to keep from buyng games over the past few months, and I'm pretty sure I haven't for the whole year, so I'm sure there are tons I've forgotten about or never seen. Amazon also has incredible deals, like Rage for $10 right now. That's not to say Gamefly is bad -- it also has some pretty good used and new game deals frequently. I just think $16-$23/month is quite a bit to pay when you're probably gonna spend time with games you really like.

oh dont get me wrong, i still shop around, but gamefly is great for games i never would have bought otherwise. I kinda feel like i can take more chances. Like i never would have bought shadows of the damned or vanquish but i rented them and am having a blast with them. i mean sometimes even when i know im gonna buy a new release ill gf it, keep it($45 for a new release isnt bad) and they'll ship me the box with instruction book and working online code if it came with one.

I was so happy I had PSN plus still. Should be expiring very soon, I'll probably renew if you get a legit free game like that Jurassic Park game earlier in the year.

This is lame, these are old games that you've already played most likely, unless you're just a fake and pretend to play your PS3 and act like these are games you've never played. And you don't get to keep these games either, just a rental service, smh-RocBoys9489-
guess what mate, i have not played any of those games, (played lbp2 at my nephews) i still need to pick up Uncharted 3 and God of war 3

If you are referring to Steam sales, I believe it's the developer's decision on the price cuts.

How come on the PC you can get insane deals, and free games without paying for a subscription, but on the PS3 you can not?

-Unreal-

Because the people at Valve are Gods amongst men.

If you are referring to Steam sales, I believe it's the developer's decision on the price cuts.

I was not, I was merely making an obvious statement.

Still, steam sales are amazing at times. I remember picking up dragon age origins + all DLC for 7 Euros.
Great buy.

[QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="bbkkristian"]Yeah and then if PS+ runs out, you can't play those games. That's what they don't tell you.WilliamRLBaker
If they did not told that how do you know it.? PSN+ is a discount service with extra games for no extra charge,it doesn't get any better than that, and that is how i think MS should model live, instead of making people pay for online play, give online play free, and make a PSN+ like service,MS has no right to charge extra for online play, specially when on PS3 you get those same multiplatform games free to play online.

because other people have confirmed it?

Dude sony since day one stated that you loosed the games if you did not resubscribe..

Free games do not maketh the service.

OB-47

That is true and while I fully agree with you, just giving out full games to play is a complete bonus over XBL? Also very sick sig. Very excited for Colonial Marines.

Why would you "pay" to get discounts? discounts should be free for everyone, discounts are a way to get more costumers interested in buying the said product, in this case, game. The so called "free" games are a way to keep the customers interested in keeping the service. If there wasn't any free games included, I highly doubt many people would have psn plus, unless the often bought things from the store. If M$ actually offered more and something like psn plus, it would be great. But paying for xbl gold isn't that much considering you can get 1 year of gold for almost half the price of a game, if you know where to look and when to look. Can you find deals like that on psn plus cards? Ifone could, I'm sure many people would have plus. Just because one company wants to make certain things free, doesn't mean the other has to follow. Look how much of a profit M$ has made because of charging for online. If sony had started this psn plus thing sooner, they probably wouldn't be in as much debt as they are now.2ndWonder
Sams, cotsco prove you wrong people will pay to get discounts,if the savings are good they will pay,for example games on sams tend to cost $56 and in many cases $52 dollars,DS3 controller cost $44,you know how much a dual shock controller cost on gamestop right.? Yeah $55 dollars. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod5500152&navAction= $44.88 http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/accessories/ps3-dualshock-3-wireless-controller/69638 $54.99 $10 dollars less in just a single item,so you see there are tons of products like this on sams and cotsco,so the more you buy the more you save, the only difference is that on PSN+ you also get complete games with no extra charge, something that cotsco or sams doesn't do on any product. No please gamestop is the top seller of video game related stuff,on gamestop live is $60 on MS site live is $60,and in tons of other sites live is also $60,is not $30 or $40 is $60,what you got there is a deal that will not last for ever, live retail price is $60 and is a stinking rip off. No i can't find deal like that on PSN+ cards but i don't have to,because with all the games i will play, and all the stuff and discounts i will get over 1 year,it will pay back the fee and them some, but on xbox live been $60,$50 or $40 you will never ever get what you pay for, because live charge you for online play, which on PSN and everywhere else is free, comparing xbox live to PSN+ is a joke, and a desperation act done by 360 fans,no matter what you say xbox live is a rip off,MS charge you to allow you to use your games the ones you already pay full price online. PSN + = Discounts on games, extra games with no extra charge(Games have always cost money) Xbox live = Pay to be allow to use the multi player part of games you own.(you get nothing back) The fact is that you pay $60 for xbox live, and i pay $50 for PSN+ and here is what we get now. You get online access for 12 months... and i get... Virtua fighter 5 Final Showdown Full game Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Full game Oddworld strangers wrath HD Full game Littlebigplanet 2 Full game Darksiders Full game Renegade Ops Full game Chime Super Deluxe Full game Outland Full game MotorStorm Apocalypse Full game and iNfamous 2 Full game + avatars, themes,PS one classics,minis.... See the difference.? Lets hope that you do PSN+ basically destroy xbox live in value, since xbox live has no value what so ever, you are charge for online play as simple as that.

I swear I get this exact same thing on the PC only better, and without having to pay money for it.

There's too much irony in cows claiming lems have hurt the industry by paying for something available elsewhere for free, and then paying for PS+

The PC market is completely different to the console and while you may say that there are great deals on PC games without having to pay anything, the fact is that in most cases those games are selling like crap on PC and developer are force to lower the price do to piracy, you can get PC games FREEEEEE without actually paying anything. http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/27313844/mw2-pc-sold-290000-copies-was-pirated-over-4-million-times-ouch?page=0 MW2 was downloaded 4.1 million times on PC illegally while it only sold 290,000.. So you see PC is a way different market than consoles, piracy on PC is off the charts and no you don't even need to mod anything, just download install and patch and your good to go,oh and you can even play it online on private servers.

PS Plus has always been a better value than XBL, anyone who isn't a deluded Xbox fanboy would admit it.

Plus completely destroys it. And sorry Lems you can't use the argument that "your just renting them", your just renting your games with XBL too, only difference is Plus is an option, XBL is not.

And MS locks out your real life disc game, you don't really own Halo or Gears or COD or any of your other games, you just own a portion and MS owns the rest, and you pay them so you can "borrow" your game from them for a year.

I'm a full year Plus member and it's one of the best decisions I ever made when it comes to gaming. It's already paid it'self off in like the first month and a half anyway.

ShadowMoses900
BINGO... And is a sad thing because xbox fans actually believe that they are getting something good with live, when in real life MS put every single 360 gamer in disadvantage vs any other console, while wii owners,PS3 owners and PC owners pay the same amount of money xbox 360 fan pay,but they get online multiplayer and 360 fans don't they are in a complete disadvantage. Fact is there majority of the 360 community plays offline not online, which mean that every single one that doesn't have live gold is paying full price for their games, but half of that game can be use,and some how they think that is great, but my father has a say (people get what they deserve) xbox live deserve to pay for online play, for supporting that kind of crap.

>starts Gamefly subscription

>Free GAEMS.

oh wait. That's not how it works.

RogueShodown
Gamefly is a ripoff if you know that most games are ~$40 on launch and even as low as $10 after 6 months. It's not like Gamefly gets all games on day 1. Then you account for people who use the service to play MP games. If they like the game, they'll play for a few months, wasting any reason to get them through the service. The only way I could see the service being worthwhile is if I play a bunch of older games and swap them for another disc quickly -- and that's assuming the shipping is fast. I don't think most people will want to get done with a game in only in a few days, unless they're trophy/achievement hunters.

There is one wrong thing about that, and it is that renting store like gamefly don't pay $40 dollars for 1 game, even less $10,gamefly most be paying at least $300 or more for each game, rental store pay higher prices than average joe gamers, because they will actually make money renting the game, trust me in the mid 80's a VHS new release could cost as much as $300 for a video club, and that was on the mid 80's,rentals pay way more for games and movies than gamers and movie viewers do.

You'll lose whatever point you try to make, because the WHOLE premise of a rental service where you can't decided what games you want to get is idiotic. It might be a better service than live, but it pales in comparison with what the PC offers.

Yeah but you don't get high rated games like LBP,also on PC people download them free and install a patch and good to go,doesn't mean their free they do so illegally, like i showed already with MW2 which was pirated on PC 4.1 in just 5 months while it sold like crap 290,000,that is a shame comparing it even with how much the game sold on PS3. Is not a game rental is a discount service, the games are a nice extra, just like the themes, avatars and other stuff,so no i did not loose my point,in fact the very post that you quote say is a discount service. But i wasn't comparing it with the PC which i can pirate every single game without need to mod anything, but i have to buy a decent card and a decent PC to run those games,is funny to see people hide on PC when this thread is XBL vs PSN+.

even by rental standards (old school brick and mortar rental shops or new school by mail) it actually is a damn good deal to have that many games at once 'rented' for the price the subscription is

Little Big Planet 2 and Darksiders are the only games you listed that I'm actually interested in. That's the problem with plus, weather or not it's worth it hinges on if a suffecient amount the games you get are ones you actually want... But wanted them then whats stopping you from buying them before hand? There's really is no way of finding out what's coming long in advance, is there? Don't you lose all the games when your subscription ends too? I'm not saying terrible but I don't think I'm ever gonna get it. I don't like the idea hoping Sony might decide to get me a game I might. I'm have a tough enough time trying to justify even this PS3.

I got PSN+ last October so I already made my money bak from all the other free stuff a long time ago, this is just great. I always wanted to get LBP2
