Overwatch another terrible game in a long line of terrible games by Blizzard?

Exactly. That was what my first reply was in reference to. Its a common internet cliche nowadays, its cool to bash Blizzard now after their huge commercial success with WoW (the same people bashing WoW usually played it for years then started hating it after they quit) but saying they dont make good and/or quality games is kinda unrealistic. Sure, you may not like their current direction thats your choice, but their past efforts are anything but bad games, all critically and financially huge hits.

I've seen nothing but praise for it. I'm an avid TF2 player and if all the players from TF2 move to Overwatch, I'll follow suit because it looks like a really fun, competitive game with competitive on mind from the get-go unlike TF2.

@Celtic_34: Terrible indeed. I tried playing it at a convention and was not impressed one bit. It just had a big brand name slapped on a horribly made competitive-wannabe game. And the characters; I really don't click with them.

I didn't get the hype, looked like an online shooter with Skylanders. It looked like a $20 downloadable game selling for $60. It looked like Blizzard was just exploiting its name.

Did I miss something because I enjoy playing the crap out of Overwatch. You could call it a TF2 ripoff but to be honest they are both pretty unique in different ways. Honestly Overwatch is the best online only multiplayer game I have played in a while so yeah I don't think the game is overrated at all.

Still better than uncharted 4, but yeah team fortress 2 is a much better game than overwatch.

That game exploded with COD and the new LIVE online with the 360. Right place at right time, then activision started spending more on advertising then the game itself. Even with how popular Halo 2 was with the Xbox, Halo 3 couldn't match the legs of it. Then you see the decline of online with Halo, which in my opinion is objectively the better game, both in SP and MP and you know COD is a anomaly.

Why is no one mentioning Paladins?

1. It isn't a bad game by any means, it has 91%.

2. While it is no doubt more casual than stuff like CS:GO, Unreal, or Quake:Champions (PC exclusives, or dead on console), the PC version of Overwatch is leagues ahead of anything on consoles for skill cap and competitive level. Nothing comes close. Especially not console designed shit like CoD or Titanfall (which are ironically far superior on PC). Not even the console version of OW which needs its own terrible balancing because lol controllers. Btw, a good team will counter any ULT, with skill.

3. PC competitive gaming is exponentially bigger and higher skill ceiling than console, with generally far more complex games even when it comes to non e-sports.... so if they are low iq/skill, then I can only imagine what Console gamers are.

Now, speaking of low iq/low skill, don't you have some movie-game to go hype for it's cut-scene graphics?

Grammatically he's not incorrect, he did qualify his statement within the context of 2016, and given that we don't get games like Overwatch often or even TF2, yeah that's fair game.

More to it, class-based existed before TF2, and while the game modes may be the same, how the classes play is anything but that. TF2 has actual loadouts, Overwatch basically doesn't. Overwatch's characters are more dependent on their abilities, where as TF2 characters have have some exceptions with the spy, or the engineer having an ability, but not nearly to the same extent. Because the game is 6 v 6 and not 16 v 16 team synergy is a more dramatically important thing in Overwatch. Simply put one player on a team of 6 has a more profound impact on the team's abilities to get shit done than one shitty player would have TF2.

They are similar in the sense that yeah they are class-based multiplayer games with wacky/zany characters. But TF2 is more about its shooting engine execution tied to its class differences. Overwatch is about as simplified on the shooting as you can get, and more about the application of that characters abilities (usually revolving around how they move around a map), and has a smaller player count to have a specific flow of combat. So calling it a generic or a straight rip off, is objectively wrong. It's willfully ignoring the things the game actually does to be different.

Which is his point, if by that metric Overwatch is "just a TF2 ripoff", we've had an entire decade of ripoffs by that measure.

Huh? What is this fiction? You said the game was going to critically and financially flop for several months. You also said it would see no major competitive play.

You were absolutely destroyed, as it has been extraordinarily successful in all of those facets.

Blizzard's biggest "failure", Heroes of the Storm, is my most played game of the generation by far. It is profitable enough to consistently release new content, and have hundred of developers working on it.

If that's a company's least relatively popular and praised game, I think they are doing just fine.

OVerwatch will always be Blizzards copycat of TF2s success as HOTS will be LOLs/DOTA 2s. Thats the bottom line of this story.

First and foremost nothing Blizzard ever did, sans maybe Diablo was an original game idea. World of Warcraft took a lot of aspects of other MMOs and fine tuned it into the game they made, Starcraft wasn't exactly this demonstrably unique RTS during that era, it's just expertly designed, and in terms of lore? **** its always been a somehow sillier version of Warhammer. So that's one.

You dismiss entire elements of the game, because it's easier for you to pigeon hole the game as "hur durr TF2 ripoff" frankly, you're being ignorant because actually coming up with a debate point seems like a ficking task. "Hur dur it's my opinion" isn't a counter for when you are objectively incorrect something. It is a fact that like TF2 Overwatch is a class based multiplayer, has payload, has a cartoony artstyle. It is also a fact that purely in how the mechanics work in both games the games don't have the same goals nor do they play the same. They have a similar framework, but where TF2 has one actual tank, Overwatch has about 4, and all 4 of them play differently from each other. Something as simple as that changes entire flow and cadence of the gameplay experience. It being similar to one game doesn't make it a copycat, nor does it deprive it of its own unique elements.

Plus any self respecting moba player could tell you how many different ways Heroes of the STorm doesn't play like Dota or League of Legends, beyond being a moba. It is actually a fairly different spin on that type of game. So that's a horrible example to begin with.

Which again is a fact, not exactly something I'm conjuring out of thin air, and not something so inconsequential to the overall play of the game that it might as well not be a point.

I think Diablo is shit. It's a Blizzard game. I definitely wouldn't enjoy World of Warcraft, in fact I haven't played a second of World of Warcraft because it's not my type of game. I've played Overwatch because it's a class based multiplayer, and since TF2 we haven't gotten proper one of those in awhile, and it is significantly different from any other class based game of its ilk.

SO lets go over this your arguments around a fallacy, completely ignore a fact of reality, and added bonus we only like it based on an assumption, which is conjecture.
