Overwatch another terrible game in a long line of terrible games by Blizzard?

I picked up this game last week, pretty much a TF2 clone and it's great

from someone who played both, it's much better then TF2

And considering TF2 is over 10 years old, that isn't a bad thing. Two games in the same genre over a decade is perfectly fine with me.

yup. Just because it's a "class based shooter" doesn't make it a rip off. and we haven't seen many of these at all.

As someone who doesnt play any Blizzard games, I like overwatch, its fun and different from TF2. The Microtransactions are a little much, but thats about it

I think Overwatch looks really good for people who play multiplayer a lot. It's not my cup of tea, but not everything has to be. I have not gotten hooked on a multiplayer game since Bad Company 2. I play Killing Floor 2, and Rainbow Six Siege a decent amount, but not much else online.

For the people who like competitive play though, it looks really good.

I missed 2% from META wow im so bad. ( And still i think game shouldnt have been AAA since it lacked content )

i never said otherwise about sales , all i said to that blizzboy was that IF OVERWATCH wasnt a blizzard game noone would even care about it and sales wouldnt have been great. The same i beleive about Diablo 3 and HOTS.

As for TF2 , what this has to do with OVERWATCHs pathetic competitive appeal ? You come up with competitive scene in the first place ( in other thread i think , dont remember but i can find everything if you want ) CS GO had 2million users back in the days and X100 more matches per day than overwatch with 10 million. Thats what i call competitive scene lol ...

First of all , your high standards are not that high.

To summarize for last time :

OVERWATCH is nowhere near to what Blizzard used to release . Nothing unique about it other than cute characters and good gameplay. OVERWATCH IS a TF2 ripoff with Blizzard spin as its HOTS etc . I bet my life that if OVERWATCH wasnt a Blizzard game it wouldnt sell as much by any means and last but not least , it is failing hard in competitive scene , same as HOTS ( Blizzboys used to say the same shit about HOTS , thats its the next big thing competitive wise ).

Now , everything else is irrelevant. Want to talk generic , i can do that too and well end up talk about everything else than OVERWATCH itself. And if these are your high standards , they are indeed UNIQUE.

True, they arent the worst microtransactions ive seen. It would just be nice to be able to grind a little easier for loot, especially if they are going to do random drops. Not a major complaint, just would be nice to work towards something

I DID win, once the game was a run away success financially, critically, and competitively. I don't need to say or do anything. It already happened, factually and objectively.

You have yet to actually show a single example of the game playing like a copycat or any one game that plays like overwatch right down to having 24 different characters taht fundamentally play differently and are so driven by their kit, and not their shooting.

Objection; it doesn't bypass anything. It is statement of fact that Warcraft, Starcraft, and World of Warcraft (notice how I said outside of Diablo, that's a comprehension failure on your part by the way) weren't exactly original. The RTS in the manner in which those games played? Existed before those games, and World of Warcraft as a mmo wasn't exactly using mechanics no one had ever seen before. It was just polished to a mirror sheen and additionally combined systems from multiple mmos. Pure aesthetics as in the setting and story? Ripped whole sale from Warhammer. Not an opinion, the history of Warcraft will tell you that from the get. So yeah Diablo is their lone "original" gameplay idea, their other games while hardly generic, weren't exactly innovators either. So why are you shocked they took a game similar to another type of game and put their own spin on it? That's what they've always done?

Second the notion that being a dev of a F2P is somehow a lesser dev is also a matter of subjectivity, as one of the best games on the market happens to be a free 2 play game. No multiplayer game outside of Starcraft 2 matches up to Dota 2 in the depth department. It's a fantastic game, and Overwatch a F2P to begin. That is a label you put on the game, because in your silly little mind you think the game isn't worth the 40 bucks it is on PC for being a mp game. Forgetting some of the PC's greatest games of yester year include mp only games like Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, and Tribes.

So now that we've established you don't know how synonyms work. That's problem 4. It's differences would make it a unique game in its genre, nothing else in the FPS plays like it, because Team Fortress doesn't play like Overwatch. Those spells aren't just inconsequential aspects of the gameplay. How Tracer moves fundamentally dictates how she plays, ditto Pharrah, ditto Zenyata vs Mercy. Both are supposed to be in the same "class". TF2 one type of sniper, one singular purpose. One healer, one type of way of playing. Ditto the heavy.

uhhh no. The whole, "Overwatch is a TF2 clone" narrative needs to die. I've played over 2k hours of TF2 and over 100 hours of OW. The only thing they have in common is being an objective based shooter. There is no character like Rein, Zarya, Mei, etc. on TF2. There is also no ults or specials. These two games have a lot less in common than in common.

Based on what exactly? Because their games still make a killing and have commercial success. It's competitive scene is less than a few months old, and exactly what's our metric for it doing well and not doing well?

They released 2, and then Overwatch isn't a F2P game. It released at a mark up, and realistically outside of TF2 (which started as a premium release) can lay claim to Overwatch's level of polish or production value. Dota 2 and League for instance do it by dialing way back on the visuals direction. The whole dismissing the quality of the game based on their business mode, a pretty shallow knock.

Overwatch is a niche game, I think we all knew that. It's not a game for the masses, but for the ultra-competitive. Art direction notwithstanding, it is not a TF2 clone....at all. With that said, I am very surprised so many people play it, and most of those people love it dearly.

Diablo 3 is arguably the best installment in the series (though it had a rough start), and a lot of people still play it despite being four years old (how many four year old games still have that amount of activity?)

Starcraft 2 I don't play because I am not a fan of multiplayer-focused RTS's, so I can't comment on that, but I'd just assume it's the most popular RTS at the moment.

Everything Blizzard released before that is solid gold (well, maybe not Mists of Pandaria...). While I will agree their quality is wavering, they are still a better developer and publisher than most. More importantly, they are the best at something where all other developers and publishers fail: support! They support their games, their communities, to a ridiculously awesome degree. They still host Diablo 2, still release patches for Diablo 2. The original Starcraft is still supported. WoW came out 12 years ago and is still a "cultural phenomenon" as someone said, and is still receiving significant content additions.
