What Valve is doing with Big Picture Mode, SteamOS, Steam Controller, and Steam Machines is a lot like what Microsoft wanted to do with Games for Windows; except Valve is actually competent. I thought GFW was a brilliant idea, but MS simply refused to fix it's problems.
However, I don't know where you guys are saying a machine would cost like $750. That simply isn't going to compete with consoles on any level at that price. The price of a Steam machine would need to be competitive with a console, like $300, not $750.
@Willy105: how can they make a machine that gives the good sauce in a 300$ console though? I've heard rumors of the titan being in one of the models... I love the idea of an upgradable console..Gonna be interesting to see specs and price on these things... Itll give a better sense of where valve is going with it... Ps where can I send you all the comicon pics to? Can Ibulk upload on swm?
@Willy105: I agree. I have a feeling the Steambox is going to be what MS wanted XBOne to be as far as always online and totally digital. I can see this box going for the $500.00 price tag and it being worth with the free online, Steam sales, and Valves exclusives. Gen 8 looking to be pretty interesting especially if the Steambox comes out.
@slaves: it's making my life gleefully confusing... I honestly don't know what platform I really want first... I mean a PC and FOUR consoles? Where does one draw the line it's like i buy shit knowing I can't play it. Sigh happy happy first world problems.
@TheEroica: I know what you mean. I had a ton of disk games at the house and I finally broke down and realized I'm never going to get around to playing them all. So I sold a ton of old games to pay for next gen stuff. I have way to many responsibilities now and can't game like I used to. Before I would have already bought a WiiU, 3DS, and pre-ordered both PS4 and Xone. Getting old sucks lol
@slaves: too true... I was just warning champ and hazy about this, especially with kids. your gaming gets seriously limited. Your interests change too... I LOVE gaming... EEverything about it, but I like coaching my sons swim team too... Or going to the lake on weekends... When I was a kid I'd put my nose down and a 10 hour session would be easy. I'll see you in the rest home brah... That'll be our next chance to game like we did as kids.
@TheEroica: Yeah if you're a gamer you should never have kids lol but seriously the best thing about having a kid, for me at least, is introducing them to gaming. I remember when I got my Atari when I was about 4 or 5 and I haven't put down a controller since. My son is the same way. Loves his PS3 and I really enjoy playing Skylanders with him or Rockband or whatever. The best part is it makes me out to be the cool dad all his little friends talk about and how we have all the cool toys like a 3D TV, all the gaming systems and peripherals that go along with them.
@Sweetbackhair: welcome back brah. Still gotta get u and rage on here.
I know seriously, you've been wanting to have us for months!

I want to get you guys on a PC themed show... I'd like to hear your opinions on the master race... haha.
My three characters would be from 999 and Virtue's Last Reward (I shit you not) not just out of fanboyism but because I literally cannot remember any other characters in games I gave a rat's ass about the entire way through a game or where I can remember and appreciate their goals in the story.
I gotta agree with this. I probably would put Sigma or Clover up there from VLR/999 myself. John Marston from RDR is another great character which needs some recognition. But, @TheEroica mentioned Garrus and I couldn't agree with that character more for being the best character of the gen. TheEroica said it best with how you watch Garrus mature throughout the series from being the good cop just doing his job to being the total badass in the ME2 and 3.
@guard12: I have two friends (one on this site being Bruno) and myself who would jump on any post saying Clover in VLR was anything but trash compared to her in 999. Myself included, honestly. They really butchered a strong character in VLR along with Alice.
Sigma's awesome. Excellent twist at the end with him and all the characters, though I really hate discussing about him just because spoilers are bound to pop up about any 999/VLR character by mentioning one of them.
Another dude in gaming I liked was Adam Jensen. The character was decently driven, interesting enough, and I'm friends with his voice actor on Facebook. Sweet stuff.
@Blabadon: Clover was ruined, but Alice was only confirmed to be the woman in the dessert at the end of 999, nothing says she was/is All Ice. Even then, hard to say that a character that didn't technically appear in 999 was ruined by VLR.
@guard12: Bioware did right by Garrus in almost every way. He's the Han solo of Mass Effect.
Ever since Comic-Con you've had an E-boner for Garrus. What's going on?
@TheEroica:
Well his combat tactics are lacking, he got all blown to shit and ruined his nice armor.
WHOA WHOA WHOA.... Garrus was a good son and soldier who worked on an inter-species level in search of truth, justice and the Citidellian way before taking that justice into his own hands as the Archangel... Rogue and deadly, he puts personal ambition aside to support his friend and equal headlong into a suicide mission, only to survive and assist in fighting for his patriot pride on his home worlds moon, talks about spilling Reaper blood all before banging Tali and making the final push to save all of organic life... Garrus is like the most ultimate wing man in history. Chuck Norris's nightmares star Garrus Vakarian.
@jg4xchamp: It's true champ! nothing we can do about it, well, I suppose we could ignore em' and end up on a picture in the post office, but kids make gaming a challenge... When our generation retires someday as the first gaming generation, you're gonna see us all going back to 10 hour a day gaming sessions in rest homes :D For now though... enjoy the kids and artfully pick your times to game. :P
@Blabadon: I would agree about the VLR Clover butttt I did like her in 999 so I gave her a pass. Adam Jensen is also a solid choice for best character. I loved his coarse voice (awesome you know the guy) and he was just fun to play with throughout Deus Ex. Good choice there since it completely slipped my mind haha.

Looks like he should learn to duck to me. :P
@slaves: Hellz yeah it did.... I like how they successfully managed to tell the first game with one cast and changed it drastically in the second chapter while still making you care about all those characters. The characters is one area where even the mightiest Bioware hater has a hard time knocking.
@Blabadon: you... Topic is potpourri...
We were recording tonight till my windows 8.1 update bricked my thousand dollar laptop.... I had a rage fit today that could've been a million hits on youtube. I wanted to see if champ Sean and whomever else is into horror games wanted to do ahorror cast next week for hHalloween... Whatcha think. Champs idea on the horror topic.
Speaking of potpourri, I was watching YouTube and some ad came up for this thing called Poopourri. I shit you not (no pun intended), I watched the entire thing because it was entertaining.
Also GG Windows 8.1. I think I may be on that though that may not be the case, seeing as my laptop updates all the time in the background. Horror games sound awesome... if I played any. Closest thing to one I can remember is a game I'm playing right now, that being Hotline Miami. Ridiculously fun and frenetic game.
@Blabadon: youtube is one of those places I get stuck for hours and then have to retrace my steps as to how I got where I am.... An absolute electronic black hole of glorious time wasting. I found a cow video called 'I like milk" once and couldn't stop laughing to the point my wife came down stairs and threatened throwing me out. I believe you... *goes to watch poopurri :P
Yeah, i dont play horror games myself, not that there's anything wrong with them, I just don't play them often... I'd like to do this cast though, as I'd like to hear more about the genre. I'm probably skipping some really great games
