This gen I am not really excited for either like I was for the 360 last gen. Â Lack of a game I really want is the main factor. Â I remember back in 2005 seeing screens of Oblivion in Game Informer made me so excited for the next gen.

I'll probably end up getting a PS4 should PC gaming find itself in a rut. However, i can't help but think that it'll just collect dust once PC gaming gets out of that rut.

With the new consoles' hardware, i imagine that Intel, and nVidia will need to squeeze out a higher perfomance per dollar if PC gaming is to remain strong in the face of consoles.. I would mention AMD, but since they're making the hardware for both consoles...

Actually, during the Steam Summer Sale, i've overheard some high school kids talking about sweet deals and what not, though I imagine that PC gaming would probably be less socially acceptable during the next gen hype.
NO. Â This is the first generation where I will not be buying any consoles at all. Â I did PC/360/PS3 this gen, but the 360 and PS3 was moslty a disappointment. Â I'm going all PC from now on.
Depends on the path each individual PC gamer has taken, everyones different. For me it was a lifetime of console gaming, Then went to PC for WOW, played for 6 years, reached world class levels of PVE and PVP, then on to RIFT where we from scratch were a top 10 world ranked raid guild, then to SWTOR where we got world 2nd on a raid clear. Then those friends of 7 years fizzled out, in the end it was more about the friends on our vent than the system I am playing on.
I got serious about a career, got a fiance, and concentrated my money on responsibilities instead of gaming. My PC turned from the most important thing in the world into a dust collector and I quickly realized casual free to play games are lame to the core, period. So now the PS4 presents itself in a timely fashion to get me back with my girl into the living room and out of the dark corner of my man cave. Also no matter how much PC gamers love the rigs they have, the majority (by a HUGE margin) of the world top developers concentrate there efforts on console.
So yea Im excited as hell for PS4, but I can easily see some Hermits not caring because there vent, teamspeak, whatever is alive and they are deep into a long lasting game, lifesucking, but addicting beyond a consoles potential.
I'm excited for new console hardware just so the quality of the ports increase - but I won't be buying either console.
Even though the Playstation 4 and the XBOX ONE are already outclassed by current PC hardware, are there any PC gamers who are excited about them?
BluRayHiDef
No, they'll still offer the same types of games they always have, just prettier.
I prefer my games a bit more complex than a controller can handle.

Sweet jesus we got a bunch of moses mods in da house baby yea!!I preordered a Playstation 4. So yeah I'm excited.

[QUOTE="SKaREO"][QUOTE="clyde46"]You'll come crawling back.clyde46To what? A graveyard? PC gaming has been dead for 13 years. Enjoy it I guess. 208 games on Steam and counting. I'm enjoying it just fine.
You know there is over 900+ games for the XBox 360 and well over 1100 for the Wii right? Yeah, I'm sure the PC probably has more, but how many of those are actually worth putting on your PC. I do play some PC games, but for the past 5 years, i think I've only bought 5 or 6 PC games.

Why don't you apply that same argument to your 360 whenever you mention its "great library of games"?[QUOTE="clyde46"][QUOTE="SKaREO"] To what? A graveyard? PC gaming has been dead for 13 years. The only thing Im excited about is the fact that this current gen is going to be phased out finally. They have have held back multiplat games way too long.04dcarraherWell said.
I'm currently gaming on a laptop that easily outperforms the PS3 and 360, but I'm sure will be blown away by the new consoles. Unfortunately for the consoles, it really does come down to the games, and there's just nothing on the horizon for any console that really grabs my interest. When I save the money, I'll be building a new PC, and will continue being a PC-exclusive gamer. I might eventually pick up a PS4, in several years, if there's been significant price drops, and there's a big enough pile of exclusive that look good to me. Then again, I've been saying the same thing about eventually getting a PS3 for like 4 years, and haven't gone for it.Â
Not a PC gamer 100%.., i just happen to game on one too, on topic 50/50 games are not that interesting yet (only few) and hardware pretty underwhelming.
No, I dont like paying $99-110 NZD for a game, when on PC I can buy the same game on Greenman with a 25% off voucher. Then the bundle deals that come in 6 months make that game a few dollars.
Yes I have a WiiU, but I dont buy the games I want on it because they are expensive, so have to wait a long time for the price to drop, Lego City, Luigi wiiu, Wonderful 101, even Earthbound is $17NZD, for a Snes Game.Â
Looking forward to some awesome games, offline, online and even co-op for the PS4 and Xbox One..
Having a great story and experience counts too.
I have iOS and Andriod if I want to play cartoon or quick pick up and play games on the go.
The Wii:U is redundant in comparison and should be avoided as the best of the gen is not on it nor can it output well.
Its a downgrade from PC to the Wii:U by a whole lot.
Not sure if I would call myself a PC gamer. I do play games on PC, but I don't play much, so I dunno if I am really a "gamer". :?
Anyway... No.
Nowadays, I almost exclusively play WRPGs, action WRPGs or at least action games with a bit of freedom of exploration and few RPG elelments here and there (e.g. Dishonored) and most of those are multiplatforms, so I manage to get by by only having a PC just fine.
And since even most of upcoming games that interest me are coming to PC as well, I am not contemplating purchasing a console let alone be excited about it at all. I am a bit worried about potential jumps in system requirements in upcoming years tho. Given that, like I said, I don't play much, I am not too keen on upgrading my PC for maybe 2 or 3 games per year.
I can't say I'm excited, although Killzone SF and inFamous SS are very impressive. I believe the best is yet to come. Very few consoles have decent lineup during first year of their lifespan. It wasn't until 2008 for the PS3 to get great games afterall.
Excited? Not really. I was actually pretty keen on what a persistent XB1 could do and open doors for.
But I am interested enough to consider getting one of them later down the line when the library grows.
Whatever has the best games. I already get the best graphics so I' looking for something special from the consoles. Neither has the launch line up that screams "buy me" so I'm going to hold off till more devs get their teeth into the new consoles before I make a purchase. clyde46
