If being able to deal with random errors, viruses, and spyware makes you feel more important, then have fun with that. Though... I did just say macs are more enjoyable to use so...

overpriced mac's, no thank you...

What did that have to do with the post you quoted?

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="DireToad"]Why wwould you want to use a Mac anyways?SolidSnake35

More user friendly, faster OS, no viruses, easy navigation (dock and expose), and just generally more enjoyable to use.

Subjective, I use Vista at home, MAc OS X in College ... I find it pretty much the same in user friendlness, its slower (Naturally due to hardware though)

No Viruses? Viruses are useless anyway, none of them you get pose a threat... Ive had viruses and adware for years not once has it effected me, free software deals with it anyway.

Dock and Expose is different to putting stuff on the desktop how really? .. I got the same thing with the windows tray or better yet sidebar >>

... last point is very very subjective, I dislike it alot.

On worse hardware, Mac OS X runs faster on my Mac than XP does on my PC. Expose is great. I can flick through my open windows much faster than I can using the taskbar. Though Microsoft, through Vista, did attempt to copy it, naturally.

Ohh that, I thought you meant the application tray, yea Expose is good, but cmon .. it saves like half a second?

Mac is overrated. I own a Macbook and while I think the hardware is outstanding. The actual OS is nothing special, I'm still trying to find out what makes it better than Windows XP.

Well, Leopard comes out on the 26th. Vista copied the old Mac OS, so we'll see what new features Apple will include this time. Tiger is better than XP for the reasons I just mentioned in my previous post.

Leopard will cost me extra right? Still I don't think Tiger is "better" than XP, I think the term "different" is a better word to describe it. I would rate them both equal.

I reckon the hardware is more reliable though, and Apple are responsible for everything regarding my MacBook. If I have a problem, they'll sort it out for me.

your performance estimations might be subjective too.

http://www.barefeats.com/bootcamp.html

as you see xp and osx trade of in different benchmarks but in gaming XP beats OSX most of the time. this combined with the fact that windows gets more games makes it a no brainer for ppl interested in pc gaming.

My laptop which i generally don't use for games dual boots linux and xp. I didn't have to pay a premium for a proprietary system because i know what i'm doing.

what? I am confused. I can choose my OS on a console? I can go transfer a Mac OS to my 360? You are mislead my friend. Besides, Vista will rock after SP1.

No viruses? read up, Macs can get viruses, just not as easily as PC's can get them and there aren't that many Mac viruses anyways.

Do you live in the US? If so you might get an even better deal than that, considering how we get ripped off on everything here in the UK. Edit: You would... It's $130 in the US, not $170 (£85).

Why can't we just love them both? I have a macbook pro. It looks pretty, runs Adobe CS3 flawlessly and if a program crashes at least I don't need to restart the whole thing. That's the biggest Pro imo for macs. But it's lacking customization and that's when I go to my pretty Media Center PC, plugged into my HDTV and do everything else. Sadly, if a program crashes, I have to restart Windows.

nope, mainland Europe, but my sister works at this Mac affiliated company so they can probably give me a little discount.

...Huh? :?

If you're saying that its better to have a Mac and a console than a gaming PC and a console, then you are wrong. Macs are more expensive and have poor game support.

If thats not what you're saying, then I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

that is true. The thing is that with windows you can get virusses from about every angle and funny enough even through the Microsoft Update system.

Like I stated before, my use of XP has been enjoyable and that's mostly because I know my way around all these problems windows poses, but if you have a mom or sister who don't know much about pc's. Mac is obviously the better choice.

He means if you game on a PC, you have to use Windows. If you game on a console, you can use a Mac since you don't need an OS for your games.

What type of impotent logic is that, if it can so be called. Is this a Mac user grasping straws or sour graps towards the Windows platform. Do you have a point or you're merely wasting your time sniffing your imaginary markers on a Mac Adobe Pohtoshop; considered as a game by MAc Users.

gimme 20 minutes and I could write code for a virus in OS X that would screw over your entire system. The only reason it "doesn't have viruses" is because none of the guys that make viruses even bother with Mac's because nobody has them. If they even held a 5% market share, you would see viruses. Simple as that. Trust me, OS X is not invulnerable to viruses as Macintosh wants everyone to believe....

I'm not trying to say that consoles can run three OS's. I'm trying to say that if you game on a console then you can have a computer that runs any OS you want. You don't have to use your computer for gaming, therefore, you don't have to use Windows.

You do know that some people duel boot right? I game on xp and also run SUSE.

gimme 20 minutes and I could write code for a virus in OS X that would screw over your entire system.

AHAHAH Are you serious

yes. OS X isn't invulnerable to viruses.... Believe me, thats IMPOSSIBLE.

yes there is some truth to what you're saying but even in overall terms of viruses osx and linux are more safe than windows.

windows is just built up from fail

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="DireToad"]Why wwould you want to use a Mac anyways?SolidSnake35

No viruses? read up, Macs can get viruses, just not as easily as PC's can get them and there aren't that many Mac viruses anyways.

Here's proof:

http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000737.htm

Compared to Windows, it has no viruses... as that article says. The majority of Mac users don't even run antivirus software.

Thats bacaause no one is using it. If you switch the number of mac users and the number of pc useres there would be more viruses on the mac then pc.

Macs are awesome!!! I lover paying hundreds if not thousands extra for underpowered hardware along with a ton less application support!!!!

You people act as if Vista or XP crash constantly and virus' are rampant. Both are untrue, unless you're running your computer like a 13 year old girl.

that is so wrong its not even funny.... The only reason Windows has viruses is because all of the hackers and programmers know tricks to get around the system. Thing is, Windows has LAYERS UPON LAYERS of Anti-Virus protection built in. OS X and Linux don't. Techinically, its a thousand times easier to hack into OS X than it is to get through Windows, but through trial and error, people have figured out Windows and can hack it easier. Honestly, if a hacker was given a week, maybe two weeks, he could literally destroy a Mac with viruses. Windows gets a bad rep because its the most popular and therefore has more people ready to tear it down but it is honestly the best OS. People need to understand that and realize Microsoft isn't out there to "Steal" your money with a crappy OS. They hire the BEST programmers around and go through millions of hours of QA and debugging. The fact that 99.9% of computers run on it only amplifies the chances of a bug being found and having those people complain. Vista is honestly the BEST OS I have ever used considering its age. It is just as stable as XP at this point and has very few issues. Just because there is a vocal minority that complains out the arse, doesn't mean Windows Vista sucks. Just need to point this out to EVERYONE. Vista is built differently from former Windows OS's, and people screw it up because they treat it like an old OS... If you use Vista properly, it is easier to use and much faster than XP. It also runs better. Games only have issues because drivers suck at the moment but nVidia is going to fix before Crysis which is their marker for the latest time they can release stable drivers... Vista requires more resources because of its built in functions that honestly, I now consider necessary. Aero is extremely complex code wise, and the Side-Bar requires tons of resources because of the way it functions. Turn those two things off, and Vista runs on fewer resources than XP.
