Eh, are you praising Mac OSX, a GNU/Linux variant? The PCs have those too, you know. Oh yeah! I wanted to mention that most GNU/Linux variants are FREE on the PC. Not to mention that some are much better than MAC OSX...

UNIX != Linux.  AIX, IRIX, Solaris, and MacOS are all different UNIX operating systems.  This is basic Computer Technology stuff... please educate yourself before posting further.

Enough, as far as gaming is concerned, Macs are PCs. Use bootcamp to run XP and play whatever Windows-exclusives you'd like, or buy any of the major, popular PC games in native OS X format. Gears of War - coming to Apple. Unreal Tournament 3 - coming to Apple. World of Warcraft? Already on Macs.

The pointless bashing is idiotic here - if Apple computers replace Windows machines in offering the games I enjoy, then I'll buy a Mac over building my own machine, and if they don't, then that's cool too. This has just become a sorry flame-bait excuse for PC and Apple bashing - so I ask, what do you use? Don't lie here either...

And don't even try and pull the "I'm using Linux" excuse out of your butt - any true 'nix fan knows that Apple OS is a Unix-derivitive and understands the implications of that. Now, you might be an open-source enthusiast such as myself, and criticize it for being a closed system, but I see far too many people pretending a situation is occuring here that isn't. And of course, Linux fans are well aware of the variety of emulation softwares available to make games run under the OS.

He means if you game on a PC, you have to use Windows. If you game on a console, you can use a Mac since you don't need an OS for your games.

game or not games I will take windows over a mac anyday. mac osx isn't nearlly as good as its made out to be, it does crash, lack a thumbnail view in windows, makes you go and find your application if its not in the dock, and once a app stop responding in osx it tends to be much harder to close than in windows and often crashes the system unlike windows, and yes I have used macs and use them pretty often at uni.

I'm not trying to say that consoles can run three OS's. I'm trying to say that if you game on a console then you can have a computer that runs any OS you want. You don't have to use your computer for gaming, therefore, you don't have to use Windows.

ever heard of dual boot? just cause you need windows for games doesn't mean you have to use it all the time

Ok then, good thing Vista is a good OS.

I do use Vista regularly, in a cage on my MacBook Pro. It is an unfortunate OS. If I had to live knowing that was inevitably my future operating system, I probably would have died a little inside.

but mac osx is a steep backward for xp in some ways, like where the hell in the thumbnail view? that is MAJOR flaw that needs to be fixed, clicking on every single image is nothing but a HUGE time waster that wouldn't happen if it was win 2k or newer

Anyone who thinks a Mac has one button obviously hasn't used one.

the apple offical apple "might mouse" in reality its very unmighty, logitech beats the lving hell out of it for half the price only has one button but yes the os supports more than one button

[QUOTE="DireToad"]Why wwould you want to use a Mac anyways?SolidSnake35
More user friendly, faster OS, no viruses, easy navigation (dock and expose), and just generally more enjoyable to use.

that's your opinion, the start menu is more userfrilendly than the dock in my liking, its not faster, viruses what virues? dock and your program not there, so you have to go an get it out of the apps folder, much slower than start program click for every program wheather its in the left side of the start menu or not

That's not true at all.

A PC can run Windows 95-Vista, Numerous distros of Linux, Solaris, Novell, heck you can even run Mac OS X on a PC with the OSx86 project. On my Dell laptop I partitioned into three drives, 1 for Windows XP which I primarily use, another forWindows Vista, and 3rd partitionfor Mac OS X 10.4.8. :P

1) I have Mac OSX now (Just bought a MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB Ram, 160GB HD, GeForce 256MB 8600GT etc etc)2) Mac does have ctrl+alt+dlt.  Its Command+Option+Esc3) With Intel Processors it supports ALOT of graphics cards now4) Macs do have right clicking.  I do it on my Pro all the time.  I put two fingers on the trackpad ad then click and bam right click just like windows5) Mac OSX Leopard which releases this week gives you BootCamp out of the box.  If you dont know what it is, its a program that lets you partition your hard drive and run Windows (XP or Vista) on your mac.  When you boot up your mac you select Windows or OSX.  best of both worlds.

Some of you are really uneducated about macs and just blindly bash.

Too bad all you PC gamers are marooned in Windows Vista, if you game on a console you can choose your OS.007_jamesbond

mac's are about as useful as a nintendo console... Not very unless you are touching first party products ;) Macs for editing, Linux for hosting servers and some other stuff, windows garbage for gaming.

[QUOTE="mistervengeance"]yes there is some truth to what you're saying but even in overall terms of viruses osx and linux are more safe than windows.

windows is just built up from fail

horrowhip

that is so wrong its not even funny.... The only reason Windows has viruses is because all of the hackers and programmers know tricks to get around the system. Thing is, Windows has LAYERS UPON LAYERS of Anti-Virus protection built in. OS X and Linux don't. Techinically, its a thousand times easier to hack into OS X than it is to get through Windows, but through trial and error, people have figured out Windows and can hack it easier. Honestly, if a hacker was given a week, maybe two weeks, he could literally destroy a Mac with viruses. Windows gets a bad rep because its the most popular and therefore has more people ready to tear it down but it is honestly the best OS. People need to understand that and realize Microsoft isn't out there to "Steal" your money with a crappy OS. They hire the BEST programmers around and go through millions of hours of QA and debugging. The fact that 99.9% of computers run on it only amplifies the chances of a bug being found and having those people complain. Vista is honestly the BEST OS I have ever used considering its age. It is just as stable as XP at this point and has very few issues. Just because there is a vocal minority that complains out the arse, doesn't mean Windows Vista sucks. Just need to point this out to EVERYONE. Vista is built differently from former Windows OS's, and people screw it up because they treat it like an old OS... If you use Vista properly, it is easier to use and much faster than XP. It also runs better. Games only have issues because drivers suck at the moment but nVidia is going to fix before Crysis which is their marker for the latest time they can release stable drivers... Vista requires more resources because of its built in functions that honestly, I now consider necessary. Aero is extremely complex code wise, and the Side-Bar requires tons of resources because of the way it functions. Turn those two things off, and Vista runs on fewer resources than XP.

you are a blind fanboy

anyone with half a brain knows that windows is the most unstable piece of garbage os in existence

my neigbor has a mac with a 400 mhz processor with 256 megs ram and i have a 2.0 dual core and 2 gigs of ram with vista and they run everything at the same speed besides games.

Yep... 4 buttons (technically 5, but two of them form a "squeeze" button).  Apparently you don't know what you're talking about.
