I think a group of games(such as Crysis,Warhead,Shattered Horizon,STALKER,ARMA 2,among a few others do look better than anything on consoles.
Then you have multiplat games that generaly look better on the PC(sometimes by a large margin, such as Metro 2033).
It´s only natural that the videos you saw don´t seem that impressive, but those are compressed and with low resolutions(some) so they don´t really make the games justice.
For example,I have Uncharted 2 and the game looks great, but I saw some videos of it on youtube that clearly aren´t representative of that game´s visual quality.
Even Crysis looks underwelming in some videos, but the game itself is a beauty.
While there are the obvious examples like Crysis, Arma 2 and a few others, in most cases the games are going to look similar when watching video clips or screenshots. I find that there is a big difference between gaming on my X360 and my PC. However, the biggest difference in many cases is the much higher resolution you get on a PC. This is not going to be visible on a video since they are going to be compressed. In other words to really appreciate the difference provided by high resolution you have to see the games yourself. The other big difference I tend to see between PC's and Consoles are the scale and scope. It's much harder to compare since you don't really see a lot of games on the console with a huge scope. Watching a birdseye view of a battlefield in Total War: Empire is like nothing you'll see on any of the consoles. From what videos I see on pc games, they dont look much better than console games. Umm... maybe some of us spend the money because that is not the only thing the PC offers over a console. It seems like you have never experienced PC gaming imo...... and youtube does not count. It seems like a waste of money for a gaming computer to only look likeslightly better graphics.

Not necessarily. There are a FEW pc exclusive games that cannot run on consoles, but it seems developers just want to go multiplatform now for more money, and just make every version looks the same. I do like it when a very demanding game comes out to test the system like Crysis. There really needs to be more PC only games like those.
/shrug. you not only get better graphics, you get access to mods and user generated content, you get more games, you get a number of genres that doset exist on the consoles, you get the biggest back catalog of any platform, you get cheaper games and you get access to all the other 'non-gaming' advantages of having a PC like posting on these forums :) But each to their own, for me personally, PC gaming offer both more gaming pr dollar but also tons of other benefits that doesn't exists on the consoles. It seems like a waste of money for a gaming computer to only look likeslightly better graphics.

I'd like to see some comparisons between PC and Console of the same game, just out of interest.Ravensmash
Sure thing, the absolute best example is metro 2033
The 360 literally runs metro barely above low setitngs.

Their is a large difference...playing a game at 1080P at 60FPS(PC), or 720P(or lower) at 30FPS(console). Looking at videos or screenshots isn't going to do it justice...
Does it always have to be console gamers trying to bring down the PC?
Seriously, these threads never have a foundation.
It's just "PC Gaming isn't as good as PC gamers say it is because.......because.......well I've never experienced it myself, but it just isn't good"
But you pay triple the cost in order to get that 1080P at 60FPS(PC). Some argue it's not worth it, especially when there have been a lot of good games on consoles that aren't available on PC's this generation.Their is a large difference...playing a game at 1080P at 60FPS(PC), or 720P(or lower) at 30FPS(console). The videos you saw are probably sized down and full of compression artifact. Although the difference isn't as generation leap as many hermits have exaggerated, even Wii games can look impressive because of art style.mystervjthis, my first gen primarly on consoles, they can keep adding polygons and draw distance but it seems to be... I can't remember the word, but they can add more and more but theres already so much it matter less and less.
I dare some of you to try pc gaming, and actually figure out how much extra it would cost compared to the pc you already would buy. You might even slowly start to realize alot of console versions just feel like money grabs compared to the pc version, like almost every wrpg and half the shooters.

$0. I already have a PC (Q9400, 750i, 2xGTX 260, 8GB). So, now that you've dared me to try PC gaming, what's your follow-up question?I dare some of you to try pc gaming, and actually figure out how much extra it would cost compared to the pc you already would buy.

So, now that you've dared me to try PC gaming, what's your follow-up question? thank you ser! but yah, there hasn't been any big leaps on pc's in a while, and its to the point where there hasn't been anything much better than crysis, and consoles aren't so inferior to the PC that it actually matters. The person I quoted compared 3 platforms to 1. And what are you talking about? Spending 2,000 dollars on hardware so you can call yourself "a gamer" on an internet video game forum isn't the most... fiscally responsible thing you can do, to say the least.[QUOTE="stiggy321"][QUOTE="clyde46"] Thats why you have all 3. PC games not only look better usually, but due to the fact that PC's have more power available, they usually have more advanced physics, particle effects, larger draw distances and fields of view, sharper textures, anti-aliasing, AA, and a slew of other things. people have to understand that PC doesn't just offer a better resolution, it allows for a better and more detailed game. also it does all this while providing a framerate of 30 to ridiculously high framerates if you have a great rig.
a large portion of the games are multiplats and they mostly get better resolutions, like bfbc2, apart from the resolution and player count, there really isn't any significant different, and while more particle effects and phyiscs are better theres enough on consoles that PC's don't stand out like they used too.PC games not only look better usually, but due to the fact that PC's have more power available, they usually have more advanced physics, particle effects, larger draw distances and fields of view, sharper textures, anti-aliasing, AA, and a slew of other things. people have to understand that PC doesn't just offer a better resolution, it allows for a better and more detailed game. also it does all this while providing a framerate of 30 to ridiculously high framerates if you have a great rig.

Load MW2 multiplayer on console first then load it on PC
Load BFBC 2 multiplayer on console then load it on PC
The difference is like night and day.... all the low res textures and jaggies due to console weak hardware doesn't happen in the PC version. MW is the most hilarious though, the PS3 framerate goes to like 5FPS if you drop an airstrike in 4 player co-op.. it's awesome
