PC games not only look better usually, but due to the fact that PC's have more power available, they usually have more advanced physics, particle effects, larger draw distances and fields of view, sharper textures, anti-aliasing, AA, and a slew of other things. people have to understand that PC doesn't just offer a better resolution, it allows for a better and more detailed game. also it does all this while providing a framerate of 30 to ridiculously high framerates if you have a great rig.

Load MW2 multiplayer on console first then load it on PC

Load BFBC 2 multiplayer on console then load it on PC

The difference is like night and day.... all the low res textures and jaggies due to console weak hardware doesn't happen in the PC version. MW is the most hilarious though, the PS3 framerate goes to like 5FPS if you drop an airstrike in 4 player co-op.. it's awesome

ya, but someone will say thats not true. Everyone is defensive of their favorite platform on this board. Nobody can be wrong, I know why I bought and sold every console this gen and kept only my pc... good enough for me I guess. Anyway, I have some starcraft 2 to play in 25 minutes!

stop reading after "from what I see of videos"

Try pc gaming on a nice rig and then console gaming, it looks ALOT better.

I own a ps3 and a 360 along with my gamign pc and multiplat games look WAY better on pc.

Also no console game looks as good as Crysis, Crysis Warhead or Metro on PC.

GTA 4 is a world of difference. So sharp so clean on pc. So blurry and messy on consoles. I own the 360 and pc version as I didnt have a gaming pc at the games launch.

Dirt 2 is a console port, and it looks freaking amazing on PC in true 1080p with full details maxed out and D11 effects. No console can even come close to that picture quality.

Okay, what would constitute being wrong? And why would it be out of defense of their platform - isn't it entirely possible that people just have different opinions than you?

my 5870 blows my PS3 graphics off the water. Seriously. most PS3 games make me cringe because of the terrible 720p resolution and only 2 X AA

But that's a mod, in 1 single game... that you spend 600 dollars on to run at 30 fps on medium. Are any of you actually reading the first post? He said pc games, "don't look much better than console games." This means that they do, in fact, look better... just, 'not much better.' My goodness...

Ofcourse the amount "better" the graphics look is entirely subjective and some people may not notice the difference. But to me the difference is like night and day.

[QUOTE="Nonstop-Madness"]I dare consoles to run BFBC2 1920 x 1200 / 120 fps on max settings. The graphical difference between consoles and PC is HUGE. aroxx_ab

I even want to see that computer that can run at those settings...

Dont even think my PC could do that.... maybe if I turn down the AA on the game lol.... There's a big difference between PC and console gaming, but when it comes to graphics its really not that a head of it.

The fact that Killzone 2 sparked a whole war of Crysis vs Killzone 2 say allot about console, but sadly PC games look way better, not only do they look great, they have incredible physics, and run on a much higher resolution,i love Killzone 2 graphics, but it was ok for Crysis to look better, after all the PS3 doesn't get a new GPU every 7 months, and doesn't have 4 GB of ram.

Just have a look at the quote in my sig. Kevin V has already admitted that the difference is generally big enough that if the console and PC versions were to be directly compared, the PC version would get a higher score 90% of the time. I doubt games would get a higher score just from "minor" visual improvements.

The reason most people think that Pc dont look much better then console is because of a couple of reasons. One is that all the computers they have used are all multi-media home or work typePc's that have basic video. Second is they are looking at multiuplatform games which are designed to work on the lowest common denominator, which are the consoles which means that the Pc versions are held back because of the limits put by the consoles.

Also the fact that you can see the limits in console graphics with toned down graphics, detail, draw distances and resolutions on the multiplat games. You can tell that consoles are inferior in the graphics department. Memory plays a big role everything a console or system can store & process, and having limited memory all around really hurts them in every way.

Well..to be honest..the genres that are currently pushing graphical boundaries on PC each year are strategy and MMOs. Which aren't popular on consoles, so console gamers aren't familiar with how they can look, they don't have much to compare to on their own platform I mean.

There is a substantial difference between a PC game running at max graphics at 1920x1080 than a console game running with 2xAA at 1280x720. You would only know this if you actually saw PC games running in front of you, and not from watching SD gameplay videos.

pc will always look better however pc has slown down due to high cost of games. Not many devs want to live off one platfrom . consoles pay the bills these days so they tend to get most of th big titles.

Which is why console costs are going up (GT5 is rumoured to be costing PD $100 million) and PC development costs are going down (with relation to the shift into more focused, lower budget titles for more specific audiences)? The PC is an incredibly reliable platform for anyone willing to budget properly, and not try to appeal to everyone.

yeah thats true you cant compare it that way. There can be a big leap in some games. however i think some screens shots are over done. I can run crysis on very high at 1680x1050 and it does not look half as good as some of the screen shots i have seen

A lot of users use mods that slightly tweak the game. It doesn't outright add anything, an I believe a lot tweak the config to get a better look.

I really dont see how it could cost 100 million $ to make a game when all they do is sit in front of pcs all day eating doritos . All costs will go up as hardware becomes more complex . I dont see costs will go up on static hardware. small games are important for the market.but block busters are the reason why people buy platfroms .

pc games do look better but the main thing they have the edge on is being able to play games in true hd, not all these hd tricks the console games play as well as better textures. some console games have terrible textures, but then pretty much any new pc game can be maxed out on 3 year old hardware at 30fps so it isn't really surprising they don't look much better.

It seems like a waste of money for a gaming computer to only look likeslightly better graphics.

slipknot0129
and it's an even bigger waste of money buying a machine that is only any use for playing games on. good pc graphics card is half the price of the console and I need my other highend parts anyway so they don't count.

Lets put it this way. Pre Built PC video cards are generations ahead of anything on consoles. Even standard laptops have better GPU's than consoles.Nonstop-Madness
In general, NVIDIA Geforce 9400 IGP and any Intel IGP (including Intel HD IGP)will be beaten up by ATI Xenos. Define "standard" laptops.

you think people makiing games work for donuts? :D

Current blockbuster console games sometimes have over 300 people working on them for 3-4 years. The salaries alone would push the budget close to 100 mln. And such team sizes are becoming increasingly more common in console world.

All costs will go up as hardware becomes more complex .

dontshackzmii

true, but they go up on much slower rate on PC than on consoles. Not to mention that currently on consoles marketing costs are often equal to developmentb budget

A little over exaggeration:P

I can't think of one dev that has over 300 people. For example.. Bungie is supposable one of the bigger devs at 180 people. Media Molecule, supposable one of the smaller developers, has about 40+ people.

I think GTA4 is the only game to reach that high in value, and I think that was because the team wanted to make the game as real as possible. To do that they did more than just sit in front of their computers to make it. I also think open world, sand box games cost more to make than usual genres.

Assassins Creed 2 had team of well over 300-450 people (depends on source), while Codemaster's F1 has over 350. And those are just from the top of my head, with some effort I'm sure we could fine more. It is getting more and more common. By the time this gens ends or at latest when the next one starts 300 will be a standard.

Just got done playing God of War 3 for the 1st time.... And all i can say is I've never played a game like it. I cant get over how amazing the game looked. Sure I've seen better textures on games like Metro 2033,Crysis, but I've never seen anything blend everything so well together and look so smooth. And I was not even playing the game at my Native monitors screen and the game still looked great. I can only imagine how great it will look when I play it on an actual HDTV. Sure PC gaming will always be the best thanks to all the goods like GTX 480, and the ATI 5800 cards. But games like god of war just goes to show what consoles are capable of. PC gaming needs to needs to step it up, because quite frankly I'm tired of looking at pictures of Crysis. Sure Metro looks amazing as well, but c'mon show me a different type of genre take advantage of what the PC has to offer.

Just Cause 2, Stalker Clear Sky, Arma II, Napoleon Total War, Shattered Horizons ect...There are plenty of games that make use of the hardware and make use of it well. It's not my fault you don't know of any other PC games besides Crysis and think a linear button masher with a fixed camera and a million quick time events in DA BOMB.

From what videos I see on pc games, they dont look much better than console games. I think pc gaming graphics look better when a new generation of consoles come out. What do you think?

slipknot0129
Well i see your point here and you know what , actually you are right ...in a way. I think you mean that when a game comes to PC ( multi i guess ) , its just a port of a game that actually made with console standards since was meant for them as well, so game looks identical or a bit better to PCs , right? Well even if you are right , and in a way you bringing another point on and thats that consoles helding PCs back , i have to disagree abit with you. If , for example you could play Assassins Creed 2 on my PC , max settings , 1920x1200 resolution maybe you would say otherwise since differences on the looks is big ones VS console versions. Also games of Crysis caliber ARE NOT possible on consoles and thats for a reason isnt? Now if i add that you see videos ( On gamespot i assume or ???) on internet , you simply watching videos on typical 720p ( max console resolution for most console games but low res for PC ). So you cant judge videos alone since PC ca neasily surpass this 720p let alone 1080p ... let alone 1200p!! ( where im playing at )...

I've played all of those games with the exception of Shattered Horizons found them all to be great.... but was never blown away by the graphics in any of them. Though I have to admit stalker with 2009 complete mod did make the game amzing compared to the stock game. Crysis is still the best looking game I've played even though i think it looks boring at times, but it sure does take a lot of hardware to run the game at a silky smooth frame rate of 60fps. I'm not really bashing the PC, I just dont find its graphics that impressive for the type of hardware it has to offer. Oh and Just Cause 2 does look great its definitely in my top 10 best looking games this gen on any system.

Its not really a huge difference, though there is a difference. There were some crysis PC vs 360 comparisons, and really if you weren't watching them head to head there wouldn't be a difference. The biggest difference between PC and consoles right now is that PC can offer hugely better physics on games like crysis.

It seems like a waste of money for a gaming computer to only look likeslightly better graphics.

You don't PC game, you don't know the difference. So take that into your account when you get opinionated.

Which is why it has the most exclusives by a huge margin, not including independent titles, experimental and modifications.

Ugh, those inevitable Crysis screenshots. Honestly, I'm so sick of seeing that game.

This is true if you are comparing a console to say a mid-end PC.
