If it weren't for PCs then the 360 and PS3 hardware wouldn't be where it is now. The truth is that the 360/PS3 are in fact hand me down PCs from last generation put in a box and sold to masses who prefer simplicity. I'm not trying to take anything away from consoles, they have their place just as a PC has its own.

True I don't know, I'm tired not thinking clearly. ^^Rahh!! I know that Computers are in everything, but I meant for the gaming industry. Not the world.

Thats an innovation. Makeing gaming simple. All in one box. Building my own gaming computer overwhelms me.

Really? I suppose its "standard" that every PC game should crash (noted by Gears of War), has worse graphics than it's console counterpart (RE4 again), has less online population whereas the most populated PC game is a 5 year old game and more!|

Higher standards doesnt exist. Face it hermits.

Halo2 scored higher than Half life 2 yet guess what one GOTY here and 27 other places. Actually I think it was more than 27.

Zelda scored higher than every PC game....recountered

Nice counter that isnt even a counter. Here I'll do a tim and eric awesome show for you. Great Job.

Also, Gears of War works fine on my PC. I went through the entire game with no crashes. And RE4 patched looks identical to the PS2 version but in high resolution. So I don't see your point.

Lucky you

Even with the texture packs, the GCN/Wii version is graphically superior due to the dynamic lighting. The PC is a PS2 port which was inferior to the GCN. I suppose they went with that one since it had more extras than the original. If the Wii version had been out during that time then the PC would of got a port of that one since it was the complete package.

Just because it overwhelms you doesn't mean you need to find away to undermine the PC. Like I said, each platform has its place since it is aimed at a specific group of people. Like how you think PCs are overwhelming, I think consoles are too simple. I look for depth in the games I play with mods and something that can last a long time. Someone stated that console gamers have short attention spans while PC gamers are opposite to that. Seems like a good observation.

Besides...obviously you want PC gaming to die. Why? Don't you realize that console gaming will slow down to a crawl without PC gaming. PC gaming is what keeps consoles with new tech every few years. What will happen is graphics technologies will emerge alot slower and your console games will get boring.

rts were already cool atleast on pc. nothing cooler than amassing large armies and attacking your enemies.

by mouse you mean mouse + controller ? you will loose lots of hot keys in that case

all that will happen when a rts is on consoles is:-

(1) the gameplay will slowdown considerably

(2) there would be a unit cap in game with large number of units

(3) there will be very little micromanagement

Whoa whoa whoa. There is a hell of a lot to pick apart at your post, but what really ticked me was the StarCraft/Halo Wars comment.

How, how can an RTS using ONLY a controller, being a spin off to a casual FPS be anywhere near as deep or exciting as an RTS built for the PC, by one of the greatest and flawless RTS developers, really, ever. Not to mention it's the sequel to arguably the greatest RTS of all time. You have to be a fanboy to claim out right Halo Wars > StarCraft II.

That statement right there is absolutely ridiculous.

From what i see of it, Starcraft 2 is a rehash (Some logic used against UT3) but it will still sell like crazy because of the brand recognition. Halo Wars in the otherhand is a breath of fresh air, innovating the genre with a very well known universe.

Halo Wars > Starcraft 2

Oh and you think halo doesnt sell from its name wow your a joke dude. Cliffy B is not the king of games he makes gears of war and thats all I can name.

Well, we almost went 24 hours without a PC bashing thread. Was that a record?

I have started to just laugh at them now. I'm not even gonna defend pc anymore, waste of time because tomorrow there will be another thread and i'll just have to re type it all over again lol.

Its good the PC gets so much attention, especially hate, shows people are jealous and thats its getting recognised.

Long live pc gaming. Oh thats right, its dieing isn't it, funny, been doing that for over 10 years.

I don't think it can be made simplier than what it already is. You are right though, PC gaming takes a certain degree of knowledge that you don't need when gaming on a console. Thats pretty much a turn off for most people, I can understand why. Console games are great and enjoyable, but they lack depth. Typically once you conquer a game then its done and you are force to move on to another. Which shows how a console gamer will either have to buy a lot of games or rent a lot of them. As a PC gamer I don't buy nearly as many games as I would on a console since the games have amazing replay value, depth and a community of other players. Thats what I like about PC gaming is the fact that games last a long time and never seem to get old. Its a very different environment for gaming, but I wouldn't saying its better or worse than console gaming. Just different.

The jab against Starcraft shows your complete lack of intelligence. It shows you have not played the first and you have not experienced one of (if not the) greatest RTS games ever compiled. Starcraft 2 takes what made Starcraft so amazing, and builds upon it, and adds much more.

Then your little jab at STALKER for being a buggy POS was completely unecessary and once again, shows you have never played it. That has to be one of the best rpg/shooters I have played in a long time. I would take it over Bioshock, which was a huge dissapointed when compared to the likes of SS2. STALKER has a lot of depth and lets you take the game at your own pace. The atmosphere in the game is perfect, and the bugs are worked out with patches wuite easily.

PC gaming is here to stay, sorry mate.

hmmm .... making an rts on console without all these problems would be innovation, i would be quite interested to see how it turns out. i don't think ensemble will be the one to do it though. relic would be the only one capable of coming the closest

Valve? LOL the 360 and PS3 has orange box so its not exclusive.

I would like to point out Valve weren't to happy about the orange box sales on the 360 and PS3. I believe gabe even mentioned saying that the few dollars extra wasn't worth the effort...

I didn't go through all 170+ posts but TC, your arguments are ill-founded.

1.)Steam is bringing digital distribution to PC's.

2.)Orange Box sold far more on the PC than the 360 and PS3.

3.)Starcraft II... nuff said?

4.)People (I've actually never tried) are still flocking to World of Warcraft.

5.)Crysis

6.)Computers are already at the next gen, and developers who want to push software to the limits will develop on a PC.

Yep, PC gaming is dead. That's why the PC has more AAAe's this gen than all 3 consoles combined, and over twice as many AAe's as all 3 consoles combined. As far as Halo Wars beating StarCraft II...lol.

SC2's graphics is absolutely horrendous and in this day in age, its practically unacceptable in comparison to the era where 360's and PS3's exist. Maybe not WC3 wise but still pretty damn ugly and sad for a company that apperantly has gold on it's pockets.

And the Wii? I wonder what console sells most... and why? I'm guessing it's for the graphics...

And the consolites will reply, "That's closer to real life. There's usually a delay between you giving orders and the orders actually being carried out, and the recipient may be presently engaged and can't respong. There is a cap in the number of units you can engage in an area; soldiers are finite, as is space. And micro-management? Who's ever been able to tell a single soldier to go to X-Y-Z? That's usually out of your hands."

PC gaming is going to die by the end of this year
Because, EVERYGAME except for those low budgest games like Sin of a **** Empire is going to sell poorly and be poor. Everygame will be pirated, everygame thats previously exclusive will need to latch on to the consoles to make profit and finally theres a wider spread community present within the consoles
CherryShooter

Okay, dude, it was a nice post, but I'd like to ask you what will you accomplish if PC actually dies?

I mean, will it be some kind of your personal achievement or what? "Wooohoo, PC is dead!!! And now I'm so... happy... Yeah..."

I'm a hardcore PC gamer, and I certainly don't want Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii dead.

What the hell is wrong with you people?

isn't it amazing, last week mass effect gets announced for the PC, and people are now thinking of selling their 360's and going PC, and now another post about PC gaming dying.

why oh why, do people think/want the PC to die. I understand people prefer consoles, and thats fine but WTF is this constant arguing about the PC been a dead format.

to people who think the PC is dead all i got to say is F*&K OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!..........having a bad day at work :(

isn't it amazing, last week mass effect gets announced for the PC, and people are now thinking of selling their 360's and going PC, and now another post about PC gaming dying.

why oh why, do people think/want the PC to die. I understand people prefer consoles, and thats fine but WTF is this constant arguing about the PC been a dead format.

to people who think the PC is dead all i got to say is F*&K OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!..........having a bad day at work :(

"Because we want all your games on our consoles! If the PC is dead, then publishers won't have a choice anymore! It's the console or bust! HA HA!"

That's the consolites' ultimate reply.

but you can't have all our gamers. simply put

a game like crysis can't be run at full potential on a console

starcraft 2 needs a mouse and keyboard otherwise you have to cut the game down to make it play on a gamepad

flight sims just don't work, racing sims need a proper wheel like the logitech G25

no devices like the trackir head tracker for the consoles (can't play a flight sim without one)

and mmos need a keyboard since you need to type alot. voice communication works when in a small party, but when you got 50 people around you need to be able to type, otherwise there is chaos.

except that majority of PC devs would simply go bancrupt, only selected few would be able to move to consoles

I wouldn't. I would just stick to old PCgames (there are still dozens I've yet to play) and mods and when those would run out I would give up gaming completely

A game like Crysis cannot be run on a console, end of story.

"Once the PC is dead, you'll have no choice. You'll have to accommodate."

Once PC is dead, you can sure bet that your consoles will have been dead for the last 200 years. PC dead? HAHAHAHAHAHA! In your DREAMS, children. As long as PCs exist there will be games made on them. And there will ALWAYS be PCs. There will always be a need for PCs outside of gaming. That future is not guaranteed for consoles as well.

PC gaming died along time ago. Soon all you will get on the PC are flash games and The Sims sequels. Most real gamers have moved onto consoles.

you know the irony of the topic, while console gaming hasn't and possibly won't die all the console makers of old have died, and the PC is still here,

Atari, sega saturn all dead.
