And whose fault was that they can't compete on the GPU market? Have you heard of Intel's Larrabee?

The point is, AMD wins the GPU contest and has for years and that's ALL THAT matters when doing High Definition and graphically intensive applications.

And I don't see an AMD GPU in your rig.:o:P

a sandy bridge that beats any AMD is around $200. come on, that's not a bad price at all.

lespaul1919

That is just the cpu price you still need memory and a motherboard. This is after the whole glich problem with the original boards so that is even more money.

you need a motherboard and ram for any other processor as well, so not sure how that matters.

For amd you just need a cpu. Bulldozer will be good on socket am3+ of course depending on the speed a new motherboard might be good idea.

You're absolutely right, this is not the place for such a discussion. On the other hand, I don't see how having a debate about the merits of different brands would reflect bad on PC gamers in general. ???

Any AMD Phenom + AMD HD 5770 will not only beat Sandy Bridge but will Crush it in HD applications and graphic intensive applications for $200.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/11

Running applications at 1024 x 768 to get good frame rates. Ewwwww....is this the 1990's? LOL.

For $200 an AMD CPU + AMD HD 5770 will run apps in FULL HD 1080P or 1050P maxed out. Not this 1024x768 low settings crap with Intel Sandy Bridge and Intel HD graphics.

Only read a couple pages...can't be arsed to read 16 pages right now. Do console gamers finally understand why PC gaming is obviously superior yet?

Guys I was just curious out there if any of you think that the "greatness" and "superiority" of PC gaming has been greatly inflated by its fanboys? I play both PC and console games and while I find games on both platforms to be fun, I just dont see this vast superiority that the hardcore PC gamers do. I know that my lack of having a true gaming rig has something to do with my opinion, but with games like ME2, BFBC2, Black Ops, MW 2, Crysis 2, DAO/DA2, Brink, FNV and others I simply dont see the advantage to playing them on PC over console. Your thoughts?

kungfuchaos
way to list multiplats, a few of them being horrible console ports. i see where this is going. also, there are many advantages. most importantly, multiple control options. wheel, ps3 controller, xbox 360 controller, arcade sticks, mouse and keyboard, etc. etc. etc. other advantages include mods, steam and valve's loving support for all of their games, excellent exclusives, prettier games (if you're into graphics :o), and considerably higher bang for buck for the majority of gamers. ive come to realize that there's a bit more competition on pc games online, making games even more intense. less casual players, more 'highly experienced players' on any fps server and all over rts games. as shown with the bfbc2 1,000,000 team actions challenge, PC gamers were able to complete more team actions than both consoles combined, with less than half the amount of players. also, recreation is even more recreational than consoles with many games on pc. basically every valve game has servers and/or gametypes that are meant for extreme fun (some of these are provided by the community). server mods on HL2DM, CSS, L4D, etc. range from role playing to zombie modes to disguising yourself as a prop and hiding from everyone. so it just goes to show that PC games have more potential for serious competition, and more potential for laid back, recreational shenanigans. its got everything i need and more, and i am proud that i made the switch from consoles to pc. i'd type more but i dont feel like going too in depth about console shortcomings in what pc excels in. maybe someday in the future i will enlighten someone.

No it is not overblown. PCs are superior in almost all areas to consoles. This is similar to comparing a Honda to a Lamborghini. Yes, the Honda is cheaper and gets better gas mileage as well as a few other things, but overall, in terms of performance and driving capabilities, the Lamborghini is superior.
