Anyone who thinks Halo 2 is the best Online shooter is WAY off.  Consoles dont hold a candle to the PC for FPS and RTS games.

The consoles are better than PC for Sports and Fighting and Platforming Games.

For RPGs, they are pretty even I would say.

You have to have a PC to get alot of the best games.  To add the most variety to your PC gaming, you should add some Wii if you like 1st party Nintendo games, or PS3 if you are a serious Console gamer.  The 360 is pretty meh if you have a good PC.

Some types of sports games are just as good on a PC, but platforming, racing and fighting games make their homes on consoles.

In your opinion.

Some people like sitting on a couch rather than sitting on a chair like me so yeah... I know it may sound strange to some, but that's the main reason for me liking them on consoles more. (not RTS though.)

hmm i would wanna play a RTS game on a 50" HDTV  and all i need is a keyboard and mouse (wireless) and you can have alot of fun. Its just PC has more RTS games because of the mouse and keyboard as they are essential for the pc to work :D

IMO FPS's are to easy on PC ie. all u hafta do is point and click, so i prefur analog to mouse in fps. but RTS are deff. better on PC do to the fact that they cant find a control scheme that you can micromanage witha controller.

I could sit on my couch with a controller, playing a pc game using TV out to connect my PC to my tv, it's not very tricky, if you wanted to play that way that is :P

I think command and conquer did it very well on consoles.

It's not quite as good, micro management level wise, as PC, but it's good.

Try playing Counter-strike / Battlefields / Unreal Tournements by "Just aiming over them and clicking" see how far ti gets you  as apposed to Halo's 100% Pistol Accuracy at a mile distance and Spray machine gun that cannot go outside of the circle.

Controller FPS = You both Axis + Fire ... STrafe + Aim + Fire , PC is exactly the same as that, only alot smoother/faster and accurate.... theres no damn difference in diffuclty in the sense, Consoles get Auto-aim and Aim-assit PC doesnt.

That means it's not the best for you. Or you've played with the wrong people... anyways, I think we can safely assume there's no one best game, and the quality of a game should be decided on fun factor.

And to add to that, most who have been playing the very limited experience of Halo 3 Beta have concluded they cant go back to Halo 2 so.. Just saying ;)

us wii owners wont have to put up with that.  There is auto aim, but free aim is better.  All we need are the games.  As of now we only have a mini game on monkey ball and a the poorly made redsteel, CoD3, and FarCry to flex our FPS muscle.  A couple of those games have glimmers of greatness in the controls, though.  In a couple of years the wii will have plenty of great FPSes, with spastic online action im sure.

I have played lots of Halo 2 on xbox and it IS fun.  I have had more fun playing Quake 2, HL, HL 2, CS, CSS, TFC online.

Also FEAR for the PC > Gears of War in my opinion, I have beat both, my brother has teh 360

Yeah, the wii could use a good halo, half life, UT or something like that. There's just too much potential being ignored on the wii right now.

Pointing and clicking and moving the analog stick and pressing a button really aren't very different; the former just gives you more accuracy.

With good thumb movement on an analog, you could do half as good as a mouse because you can always let go to achieve zero movement precision stops.

Well PC owns online gaming, that is pretty obvious, but console online isn't that bad. IMO I can't think of playing with analog stick in a fast paced FPS online.

what game is that? I'll get it if you let me know cause I love racing games :)

Also, I wouldn't count games like burnout out yet, one coming up soonish, I know it might have a stupid name, but we will see.

Also, gran tourismo and forza have not yet made an appearence yet.

Please dont use redsteel as the standard.  It should not be that hard to turn in other ways besides pushing the screen with teh cursor, and those ways are already being explored by devs.  (cant remember link, but it was there) The most promising i've seen is tilting the nunchuck to turn left or right, but i'll leave that to the professionals.  Besides, FPS analog controls are the slow ones at aiming.  I think that's a little bit more important than turning around for a shooter

edit: and i dont know what zero movement means.  "Staying on target" i assume, but that sounds like auto aim to me, and trust me, you dont need it.  You might be surprised at the accuracy you can get with a wiimote.

Then add free-look with the nun-chuck's tilt sensor and then analog is totally destroyed by the Wii-mote.

Actually, PCs are the cheapest they have ever been. You can get an equally as powerful PC for about 140-300 more than your average console. You don't have to spend that much money.

Dude, it comes down to personal opinion. Saying PC shooters are better than console ones is ignorant. If i prefer playing shooters on a console, which i do, then to me they are the better choice. I know right now that ill enjoy Half Life 2 on the 360 than i did on the PC. I just dont like playing games with shallow feeling controls.

Dude, it comes down to personal opinion. Saying PC shooters are better than console ones is ignorant. If i prefer playing shooters on a console, which i do, then to me they are the better choice. I know right now that ill enjoy Half Life 2 on the 360 than i did on the PC. I just dont like playing games with shallow feeling controls.GazzaB
Are you saying that its the control's fault that console shooters are better, because we can use the exact same control scheme. Theres no logical reasoning behind stating console FPS games are better, but there are for stating PC shooters are better. You can get better graphics from higher resolutions, you can get better sound from EAX, you can use almost any controls including the wiimote, the games generally have more content from mods, etc. Those are facts. I haven't said PC shooters are better, those are merely facts.

And I prefer playing fighters on PC, but this doesn't make PC better in fighting genre. Truth is that PC is better in FPS, it has better exclusicvve shooters and most of the time better versions of multiplatform FPSes.

QFT, Player of both, last generation the only 2 shooters I could tolerate on the Consoles though were Timesplitters and ... ah godamn mind block... -.-.

Anyway it is down to preference, the problem is, MICROSOFT is trying to bring them together, console fans dont want PC control games wehre accuracy means alot and speed, like PC fans dont want pray and spray aim assist. M$ is going down a bad road.

In your opinion.

Some people like sitting on a couch rather than sitting on a chair like me so yeah... I know it may sound strange to some, but that's the main reason for me liking them on consoles more. (not RTS though.)

Guess what?

I just finished a short session of the original Half-Life for PC a few minutes ago. And you know where I was playing it from? My bed. That's right. I was lounging on my bed with a keyboard in my lap, a wireless mouse on a slick book at my side and my laptop hooked up to my 32 inch TV.

That's no excuse, buddy. And if you respond with the lame argument "I prefer actual controllers to keyboard/mouse", just know that you can play any PC game with a controller.

There aren't many rational excuses for disliking PC gaming as a whole anymore. Great games. You can play on your TV while relaxing on your couch/bed. And you can use controllers. ;)

Both PC and Console FPSs and RTSs > only PC FPSs and RTSs. I win.
