Well, to begin with there are so much more commands, which is far more useful in mmorpgs, rpgs, rts, and fps.
Second, it is nice that the controllers are split, you did not ask for a mouse, which is fine, but it is really great that it is seperated, my keyboard is often reserved for movement and lover body movement in fps games, and it acts completely independent from the mouse, and second nature, so I really dont have to think about movement while aiming.
Having the possability to go from walk ->run -> jump over something, while it does not limit my ability to aim and look around really fast, is pretty much one of the reasons I prefer the kb+m over a gamepad.
The ability to bind custom commands in a game is also worth while, and just for giggles, in my average fps games I use about 33-34 buttens on the kyaboard, not counting the mouse.
And then ofcourse you can communicate by writing, to limit the kiddys having to use thier squeaky voices, and skip over possible bad sound from mics due disrtance, letters everyone can read and reacto to in an instant.
All boils down to: Gamepad has Nothing it can do a kb+m combo can not, the same can not be said the other way around.
The controllers do have thier shining moments for sure tho, I would not be caught dead playing: Platformers, beat'em ups, racing and sports games with a kb+m, 3rd person shooters, are often quite undecided between the two.
