Give it time. I'm sure the PS3 didn't go so well all over the world when it launched. Vita is in a similar price bracket. It just came out really, so I'm geussing sales will only pick up.
Sony needs to do something, and fast.
charizard1605
I hate this mentality. There is nothing they can realistically do considering the circumstances. A pricecut won't have any long term effect.
I read that the Vita launced with the highest rated launch line up of any past console or hand held (according to MC) I thought that was interesting.brofists
Yeah, the lineup is also western centric.
[QUOTE="metal_zombie"]Fixed But even still, the 3DS has had better success worldwide, but Nintendo pretty much owns the dedicated gaming handheld market.perhaps this proof that handheld gaming is dying

No
[QUOTE="Famiking"][QUOTE="brofists"] You were very d*ickish and argumentative in your response to me. Are you really suprised you got it back in return? You got to be crazy lol. Anyway, Its just something i read, and if I come across the link again, I'll post it. So chill:)brofistsHow was my reply dickish? I only indirectly asked for a link and my reply had very little to do with you. My apologies, but in all honestly you sound very hyper defensive. That, or I struck a nerve. You basically said ...yeah sure, because "all Vita games look mediocre " Its clear what you were intending when you threw that comment in there. And secondly, you haven't played any of the games to make a fair judgment. By assuming ALL the games are mediocre, you are being very ignorant. But like I said, I will try to find the link , and re-post it for you, so just chill out
This thread was pretty informative about Vita's situation in France and even several cows acknowledged that but are happy regardless with the Vita. For some reason, your like the only one here who can't hide his Sony hardon at all lol. Your getting too defensive, its so obvious. Awesome, that the launch games did well with MC but not awesome that its sucking so hard in France. And I like the Vita, can't wait for Type-0 !!
how much does the 3ds sell in france?campzor
You mean the weekly rate? Idk but it says in the OP that 3DS is currently outselling PSV.
Nintendo France revealed that 3DS had sold 761k units in 2011.
[QUOTE="savebattery"]There's no market for the system. The price is too high and it doesn't have a killer app. brofists^ lol 5/10 Well what is it's killer app? I guess you could say Uncharted, but then the third entry in to the main franchise was only released a few months ago, so I can see why it might not be seen as a must have. And yeah, I was always defensive of the initial Vita figures, but this along with the Media Create numbers (seems to have settled barely above 10k) doesn't seem great for it at the moment. When are the next NPD numbers released?

Nintendo has Pokemon, and that alone will drive sales for their handhelds. I don't think the PSP ever got a killerapp that would push units worldwide the way that Pokemon does.
Watch the sales of the 3DS sky rocket then month or so before the first 3D Pokemon game releasess

Yeah this is true.
My point was that this common argument is undermining Nintendo's ability to sustain high software/console sales long term.
Mario or Pokemon doesn't sell because they are Mario/Pokemon games, they sell because of how well these franchises are handled in regards to fun, quality, marketing, timing, pricepoint (this is where hardware power comes into play),element of surprise ("gimmicks" such as 3D/motion controls), nostalgia (tanooki suit).
Nintendo handheld + Mario + Pokemon doesn't automatically ensure success.
EDIT: Just look at Nintendogs + Cats, it won't come near the original's sales.
so overall how is the psvita doing? BTW i don't know what it is, but Handhelds just feel like 5 years ago. Microsoft1234
Overall, it's doing ok. It's pretty fun actually. I'm really enjoying it. I have 8 games for it and counting. Plus I heard that the PS Vita has outsold the 3DS in Europe since it launched everywhere except one or two countries. Gotta find the link. Once more heavy hitters come out, it'll do great. (Looks at Gravity Rush) :)

It isn't going to fail with those games either. Notice how when the 3DS launched it was a short period before a Mario game came out and they didn't di a nostalgia cash in of Ocarina of Time in 3D. Nintendo knwos which games will psuh hardware.
Unfortunately for Sony, they do not really have anything like that for PSP or Vita and the Vita doesn't have much of a gimmick other than being "the new PSP"

For crying out loud, yes!! you're missing the point
Sony has had what, 18 years to establish franchises and look where we are today. Nintendo's management of the Zelda series resulted in that OoT 3D remake is a system seller 25 years later.
Sony really needs a marketable franchise that will spark sales NOW!!! It's a shame that Sony gave Crash and Spyro the boot after the PSX era.
Wow, that is bad. I still expect the Vita be ok once it gets a killer app.MercenaryMafiaI thought the killer app was Uncharted?
The PSP GO never happened. They should just discontinue the system and pretend it never launched.

Its doing better then Vita doomsayers think (or else we wouldn't have this thread telling us how its doing in FRANCE), but its not some runaway success some of the cows predicted at E3.
Yeah its doing pretty well.

I consider Sony to be the closest to Nintendo as a publisher, even if the majority of their games don't exactly cater to my taste, don't get me wrong.
They are just bad at the sales game as well as sustaining high sales for their few franchises that do become mainstream hits.
The reason why Pokemon and Mario are recipes for success is because Nintendo is a master at handling an IP. If you gave those IPs to other publishers, they would most likely not perform nearly as well.
I think PS4 will be a success as a console and maybe even overtake Xbox 3, the latest rumors of their devs working on PS4 games is a good sign, I think they can have a great E3 2013 show.
Sorry but PSV is a sinking ship and probably Sony's last dedicated handheld, I think they will integrate their handheld department with other devices such as the Sony tablet in the future.

They can't salvage PSV as opposed to PS3.
PS3 was still a financial disaster and lost 45% marketshare. In addition multiplatform games usually perform better on 360. I don't care if it sold 60 million units worldwide, it was a failiure.
