with a year headstart and only half the price. theyre only a sega saturn apart in sales. the ps3 will easily get that 7 mill and more with a price drop. What strange world do you live in if 7 million units more is "barely"?

The Playstation brand name as always been strong and popular, I don't see why this is surprising that the PS3 is slowly, but surely, gaining ground. Granted even if the Xbox 360 didn't sell a single console ever again, it would still take the PS3 almost a year to pass the Xbox 360. That lead is quite substantial no matter how you slice it. Not like it's important anyways though.Stevo_the_gamer
this...unless sony is at risk of going under, i dont see what's so bad about pushing over 20million ps3's in two years
it would be nice if they started making profit though...theyre trying so hard this year with all the epic exclusives...
Ok we all know PS3 lost this generation in sales, but who cares. The software is amazing with KZ2, Uncharted, R & C, MGS4, LBP, and more and 21m isn't that bad. Besides with a $600 console in the first year its going to start slower. Also with that 1 year ps3 would have more numbers.

PS3 will eventually pass up Xbox, because Microsoft will end their support long before Sony does, but Microsoft still has a big lead because of the head start. Otherwise they woudl be neck and neck, but they are not.DumbDubyaA new account says that you have no faith in what you are saying.
x360-sold Worldwide: 27.93 million (as of January 14, 2009) PS3-sold 21.3 million worldwide (as of December 31, 2008 That's with a 1 year head start for the X360 and the ps3 costing twice as much.Michael324
Xbox 360 is at 30.5 million and PS3 at 21 million, so that is nearly 10 million difference, which is huge, especially considering 360 outsold PS2 2:1 this holiday and keeps outselling it
[QUOTE="BigDaddyPOLO"]with a year headstart and only half the price. theyre only a sega saturn apart in sales. the ps3 will easily get that 7 mill and more with a price drop. That was January. The Playstation brand is really strong, so it's amazing that Xbox is beating it. That's what really matters. Xbox did horribly last gen compared to the PS2, and yet this gen it's outselling it, and more people are buying software for the 360 than any other console. The 360 is winning.Mr_Nordquist
I would add that 360 gets 10x the RPGs this generation, and the most JRPG's by miles too and got FF13 as well, it is not just winning, it has really performed a overkill to PS brand

I always thought the PS3 was going to kill the 360, mostly because of the Sony fanboys. My guess is that many jumped from PS2 to 360 and Wii. I was one of them! Sony really did hurt their brand with the first couple of years on the PS3. Today the PS3 is totally worth it!
And both are being destroyed by what is essentially a last gen console(wii, and not meant as a diss since I think the wii is a nice system), what's your point?
1. Because Sony had 5 times the install base last generation, sold 100M+ units in two generations back to back, and has a huge brand advantage worldwide in the gaming arena
2. Because the 360 has NOT been half the cost this whole time. Until fairly recently, the PS3 was about 1.5 times the 360 cost.
3. Because the two machines are not perfect substitutes. The PS3 has all of the features of the 360, plus some more including a BD, Wifi etc.
4. Because some of the market wants and values at least some of the additional features that the PS3 has...thus they are willing to pay extra for those features....which reduces the relative cost differential to zero (or even negative) in some people's minds.
5. Because not everyone thinks like you.

That is pretty weird, PS3 isn't winning in sales simply because of the 360's one year head start. Microsoft was really lucky releasing it earlier than the PS3 and Wii in the long run.
But the Wii is beating both of them in sales by more than double units sold compared to PS3 and almost double sold compared to 360 (48.9 Million sold). It's simply a fact.
Why is the X360 just barely winning?Michael324this gen was also launched during an administration in the states at least, that had people watching their cash. Now everyone says we're in a recession, but this was taking effect for the past 6-7 years. No console is going to take off at the rate of the ps2 for a while. Ms isn't leading big because, let's face it, sony has the brand name power in this industry. That being said, they have fallen a bit due to overconfidence, overpricing, and the global economy.

Well, i get all systems, always, so i can't say i jumped to 360, since before xbox i loved my PS1-2, especially the FF games and of course Zelda was my best game, then Fable on xbox, since i like the really really rare adventure-RPG kind more than anything
But the fact that i play on 360 99% of the time does say something about PS3 state, with 1-2 worthy games per year, for my RPG tastes at least
If people here could ever consider Demon Soul a worthy title, since they go by gamespot scores (which frankly i never do, i love Demon Soul bosses, and will buy it day one, but is still one title in years for my PS3)

Nintend0-BuDDy
So, Wii came a year after 360, and still outsold it, so PS3 theoretically could have done the same, but did not
So, it is not as simple as having a year head start, espeically with the failed xbox 1 and PS2 having 120.000.000 users ready to jump to PS3, simply because is all they know
In fact the 360 sales and status is a real miracle
....No it isn't.. The Xbox360 arcade version basically NEEDS a hard drive to function totally.. Something that costs around $100.. Meaning the system costs $300..sSubZerOo
No. It. Does. Not.
It provides the same primary functionality as the Pro model....the ability to play all the games.

I got a used one for mine at 30$ actually
Also the Arcade plays 99% of the games, so it is 99% cvlose to functioning totally as you say, with no need of a HDD at all actually
Plus it has full BC support in all models, with a HDD installed, unlike PS3 that has no PS2 BC at all anymore, eben if you put 10TB HDD on
Who cares about sales numbers we all know the PS3 is the best console on the market.djsifer01
It has one RPG for me, when i have 35+ on 360 !!!!
Also the best versions of most multiplatforms and especially Fallout 3 that i care mostly about !!!
So much for the "best" console, in 2009 is 1000x worst than 360 too, 360 gets all the hu8ge 50-100 hours games, and all the RPGs again
Why is the X360 just barely winning?Michael324Considering its beating a huge brand name and as cows like to point out they all break its selling rather well imo.

I really hope you're kidding about thais statement. A big part of the current troubles is due to people spending money they didnt have on houses they didnt need.
Edit- I'm pretty sure people are saving now, in preparation for the inevitable tax hike coming on the heels of "stimulus".
yea the ps3 is selling at about the same rate but its the successor of the ps2 and 360 is the successor of xbox, just look at last gen and you'll see that this is a huge win for MS
That's like saying "yeah you knocked me out, but I was only unconcious for like 5 minutes"...lol. You still got knocked out. The 360 is still winning. A 360 owner can say that the 360 is still leading without the GLOBAL Support that the PS3 has. The 360 is still leading even with the Playstation name being a brand that was around longer and "had" the bigger fanbase...if you wanna call it that. Who cares. I enjoy both .
TC is just trying to say that despite the PS3's price, the PS3 is actually doing every well. In fact, the PS3 is actually selling faster than the 360. The PS3 reach 20 million units faster than the 360. It will probably reach 30 million faster than the 360. By faster I mean for example (not correct info) the PS3 sold 20 million in 2 years while the 360 took 3 years. 8 million more consoles sold with 1 year head start isnt really that big of a lead. Every console sells around 9 million consoles each yearNonstop-Madness
I guess after the price drop of 360 to 199$ etc, it outsells PS3 2:1 in US and who knows how much outside US too, so things have changed, PS3 offers no BC at double the 360 price right now, and 360 outsells by much
Also PS3 had all those poeple from PS2 that waited for the price drop to 400$ from the 500-600$ it was initailly, that is why it sold so well then, right now it is not doing anywhere close as good as 360

Its not selling as well because the 360 is a better choice for a lot of people. There are still a lot of people buying PS3's but the price and the lack of an involved community which translates to many other things like lack of advertisement, specific type of games like RPG's, developer support is just not there etc. There is a community but HOME is not the answer Sony wants it to be. Sony is just hurting themselves by not giving gamers what they expect. What Sony needs to do is bring something to there system that people are familiar with and build on that with revolutionary ideas. IMO GOW3, Price Cut and a Big Firmware Update and all that Sony needs to succeed this year so the PS3 can reach its stride. Sony has always been able to push there console into an unstoppable stride. After the PS2 hits its stride, goodbye have a nice day.EDIT: damn im bad at spelling, this is what happens when you use Spell check to much.

Your right the 360 has outsold the PS3 every week in WW sales but im trying to say that comparing the 360's sales from day 1 to day 524 for example it has sold less than the PS3 from day 1 to day 524.[QUOTE="Nonstop-Madness"]TC is just trying to say that despite the PS3's price, the PS3 is actually doing every well.
