Japan contributes a part of the PS3 sales, not all of it. And the PS3 still sells a good number of units in the US and EU markets.

The 360's concentration of sales in the US market serves no benefit to the system's users, be they American or otherwise, because there's a sufficient Western market in the US alone, and across the US and EU combined, that the PS3 (and PC) cannot be ignored by Western publishers.

Sales in Japan "matter" even if I don't live there, because it determines what games are made on each platform.

The 360's lack of presence in Japan is why there was no point for SEGA to put Valkyria Chronicles and the Yakuza series on it. There's no point for Namco Bandai to make a 360 version of Tales of Xillia or Graces F. Or for From Software to make a 360 Demon's Souls initially. There's no point for LEVEL-5 to make a 360 version of their Studio Ghibli collaboration - The Wrath of the White Witch. Or NIS to make a 360 version of their Disgaea games for people who want them.

PS3 tops the X360 in exclusives, it has more AAAAE and AAE, and it's tied with the X360 in AAAE. As for the Wii, the online system and hardware is almost garbage. Not to mention, the worst versions of sports games (FIFA and Madden), lack of fighters like Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Blazblu, SoulCaliburIV, Tekken 6, Mortal Kombat 9, upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken, etc. Lack of multiplat racers like Dirt and Need For Speed: Shift, and other gen defining multiplats like the Battlefield, Bioshock, Dead Space, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption, L.A Noire, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Catherine, Portal 1/2, Ninja Gaiden, Assassin's Creed, Batman, Deus Ex: HR, Resident Evil 5 etc. That seems like alot missing to me... And the PS3 has all of those.

Why the hell would anyone want to pass on the best of all the consoles? It's $250 now, if you don't have it, go get it. If you really can't afford it, then you can sell your X360 for it, other than if your friends don't own one the only excuse you probably have for not wanting one is not being able to buy all the exclusive games coming out, but I can understand how 360 allows you to save money. Your username is from Metal Gear Solid, you know you want that MGS4 and free online play.

Nintendo has provided data on ratios between average sales in Jan-Sept and average Oct-Dec sales.

For the US in 2010:

• 360 - ~290%
• PS3 - ~280%

For the EU in 2010:

• 360 - ~205%
• PS3 - ~305%

Using those figures from last year, should result in:

• For 360: 3.0M in the US, 1.2M in the EU - projected EU+US = 9.6M
• For PS3: 2.0M in the US, 2.6M in the EU - projected EU+US = 9.8M

This of course excludes Japan, but the Japanese 2011 gap is only likely to widen.

It's pretty simple to have high sales for a product if it's the only thing on the market for the consumer to chose from. That's not an accomplishment, that's rather pathetic.

Love or hate PS3's catelog of games, at leastSony puts out a wide variety of high quality games thru out theentire year; instead of tryingto release only 1 or 2quality games during holiday season to ensure sales when the year is almost over.

This has been MS strategy almost the entire gen; PS3 games sale, it just has more to offergamers for exclusives and has awider demographic of people so everyone burdened to buy the same game.

As a (somewhat) new PS3 owner, I must say that I am guilty of this. The only 2011 PS3 exclusive I bought was Killzone 3.

Here on System Wars we only use Gamespot scores, and he was trying to use the scores of the PS3/X360 exclusives to put the X360 over the PS3, saying that the X360 had higher scoring exclusives and calling the PS3 the worst of the consoles. If you can't follow the rules and are just going to bring up things like how nongamespot users don't care about GS scores or whatever, then don't play at all.

Wii gets the worst sports game, for example: Some Gamespot scores (Might as well read the reviews and info to see how Wii versions have less content, no HD visuals, etc.)

FIFA 11

Playstation 3 Version: 9.0 >Nintendo Wii Version: 7.5

NHL 11 (PS3) 9.0 >NHL 2K11 (Wii) 5.5

Madden NFL 11

Playstation 3 Version: 8.0 >Nintendo Wii Version: 6.0

I want the better version, the PS3 version. But I guess people can go ahead and get the Wii version, and they can even choose to do that if they also own the superior console (PS3). It's their choice.

The top 20 software charts for each region are comprised of a majority of exclusives.

A few multiplatform titles have greater sales on a single platform than the exclusives on the respective platform. The CoDs, FIFAs, Maddens and Rockstar games.

While a few exclusive titles also have greater sales on the platform than all of the rest of the multiplatform titles on the respective platform.

I heard that the 360 might get a price cut this November. If so say goodbye to the PS3 in USA and UK. :D

I mean that the PS3 has got the X360 beat in one way and the Wii beat in another, it beats the X360 in high-scoring exclusives (8.0+), and it beats the Wii in total library. Foxhound said that the PS3 is the worst of the consoles, but it's not. And that the X360 had more high-scoring exclusives (8.0+) and it doesn't. He also said mixing Gears and Tomb Raider is nothing new, and it is.

Pachter is presumably only referring to the US market, which seems to be the only market MS really cares about maintaining a sales lead, as they've been regularly outsold on a worldwide basis for some time now and Microsoft has done little in the way of acting in other regions.

Pachter is presumably only referring to the US market, which seems to be the only market MS really cares about maintaining a sales lead, as they've been regularly outsold on a worldwide basis for some time now and Microsoft has done little in the way of acting in other regions.

They have no reason to not focus solely on the US market because of how much revenue it generates for them alone. They backed out from the Japanese market because it was pointless by now and c'mon, if you're company is making mad revenue at its current price, even if the competitors system outsells yours after 5 whole years, there really isn't a big impact in the media to make anything out of it.:P

This comes down to the same thing as the whole sales and shipped r*****ed argument, but that's pointless.:P Logic simply doesn't flow with some people.:?

Microsoft are the current market leaders in the US and that is what they plan on keeping, making mad money and selling more of dat Kinect.:P
