yet another superior multiplat on the PS3!finalstar2007Only to those who didn't play AC1...
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I'm really torn on this one. I think it's great that it's a free game (seriously, how is that not awesome?), but AC1's PS3 port really wasn't all that great. It froze on me in the last assassination mission both times when I tried to play it, so I had to look at the ending on Youtube  That and as others have said, AC2 would've been a better tie-in because it's astoundingly better and it's tough playing through the first one after the others. Still, this just solidifies me buying it on PS3, great to those who haven't played it yet, and hopefully this copy won't skip on me.
Finalstar ,don't listen to the people bashing the game , AC1 has the best assassinations among the AC's released , they had to be planned from engagement to escape , what really sustains the 'boring' argument are the other quests which , yeah , were all the same , over and over again , also AC1 had the best boss battle too iMO.
On thread , that's a must for someone who hasnt played the first , I have but I'll be getting it on the ps3 due to my trophy collection being more expressive than my gamerpoints. :P

I mean it may not be that big of a deal, but I always have a problem with people not getting what someone else does for the same price. But that is MS fault and not the 360 owners themselves, if MS was more open and friendly to devs like Sony was then MS would get more support.
ShadowMoses900
Yeah, it's because Sony is so friendly and not because they paid Ubisoft money. :|

Money may have been invoved, but alot of devs are packaging in their old games with new ones. Bioshock Infinite for example is coming with Bioshock 1 on PS3. They can put it on the SAME blu-ray disc (man I love Blu-Ray it's so amazing, the standard next gen) but they wouldn't be able to do that since it uses outdated technology, AKA the dvd.
And Sony IS more friendly and open to devs than MS is, this is why you see Steam works on PSN and not xbox live. Or why Epic games (gears designers) got pissed at MS for not letting them give their fans free content. Many other devs have said the same thing. It's a shame that MS is more concerned with stupid timed exclusives which only last for a month or two, where as Sony ACTUALLY gives you an entire free game. PS3 owners are the clear winners here once again...

Sony will then introduce a new media format which fanboys will shrug off as a gimmick while Xbox will get Bluray.
there's a pattern here
PS1 - CD
PS2 - DVD
PS3 - Bluray
PS4 - ???

Which probably envolved payment from Sony as well. They already stated they believe this is a great tactic for getting people to buy multiplatform games on their platform. They aren't gettiing them free.

Then why do some of the bonus games come via a download code from the PSN store? To prevent people from buying used, obviously.

What does being concerned with timed exclusives have to do with them having a more closed system anyway? And yes, Microsoft has released and allowed developers to release plenty of free content over the years.

I doubt sony will name the next playsttaion a PS4 seeing how they went Vita on the PSP2 but anyways im sure the next playstation will still use blu-ray but probably a much bigger bluray disk with larger size
[QUOTE="Vari3ty"]
Well, if this doesn't make the advantages of Bluray clear, I don't know what does...
KevinPlanet
This was done out of a partnership between Sony and Ubisoft, not because of Blu-Ray
Sony likes to add additional content on the disc rather than timed exclusive DLC, I wish they'd get more praise for doing this from gaming publications. Next I believe they made a deal with 2K Studios to include Bioshock 1 with Bioshock Infinite
Of course, still it would not be possible without Blu Ray.
It dosent matter what their doing, what matters is that WE gamers are getting extra things and im not talking about silly little exclusive 30 day DLC. two whole games on 1 disk! not 4 disks
finalstar2007
As I already said, this is only for people that buy it on day one, so it can't be on the disc. It's most likely a PSN code.

it's probably PS4 here, but definitely not PS4 in the East (at least in Japan). number 4 is like the number 13. it actually means 'death' in japanese ('yon' is the common pronunciation, but 4 can also be read as 'shi' which also means death). in fact, some buildings skip the 4th floor. i know 'cause i've been to one hotel and when i looked at the elevator there's no button for the 4th floor.

Plenty of devs like to give there fans free content, and that is what Sony is doing with AC and Bioshock. Mabey some money was involved but at least Sony lets devs do things there way, not like MS just giving their customers dumb 1 month "exclusive" lol. I think it's because Sony is being more open and friendly to devs, something they have always done and something MS needs to learn. The devs should be able to give whatever they want to their fans and no one but the dev should say otherwise. And hell yeay it's a great tactic to buy a multiplat, your getting a FREE game for the price of one! That's a great deal!
Blu Ray does matter and it will be the standard next gen, even Nintendo has learned this and the WiiU will have a Blu Ray player. Funny how all the lems and other people dissed it, and now it's the standard. Pretty funny huh? And not all content comes on the PSN store, some of it is on the disc, like Bioshock 1 has been confirmed to be on the same disc as Infinite. Which makes the PS3 version superior, and I mean ACTUALLY superior not the stupid fake fanboy "superior" because of invisible differences.
Having a "closed" system really means authoritive. MS only allows "free" cotent if MS approves of it, in most cases they do not and they push devs around. The devs made the game not MS (they don't make ANYTHING) and it's the devs who should deem how their game get's played and what thier fans want. Not MS....

Are you saying Sony doesn't have to approve content before it's released on PSN/PS3? Because that's incorrect.

Can you prove that most developers don't get to release their free content? Do you keep track, do you survey developers?

Welcome to console gaming. All three platform holders are free to refuse to release a game on their system if they choose to. It's one of the perks of having your own platform.

I think you don't understand what I'm saying here, ofcourse Sony has to approve of the cotet. That isn't what this is about, what this is about is Sony being more open and friendly to devs so the devs can do things their own way, it has nothing to do with approving. Sony approves it first but they are more free to dev support, which is whySony has been more successful with exclusive devs and content. Like they always have been....
Does Steamworks rig a bell? Valve and PLENTY of other devs have openly stated that Sony let's them give free things to their customers and they have gotten pretty upset at MS for not letting them do it. There is your proof, hell there was even this stupid ascar game that came out recently but there was this big fight because there was DLC for it but it was free on PSN but on xbox live. The SAME DLC was free on PSN and not live! That speaks volumes about how MS does things, and it's not in favor of their fans...
All console companies are free to refuse things, but once again I don't think you are understading what we are talkig about, we seem to be talking about two differet things here. The fact is that Soy let's devs do things there own way (in most cases) and the consumer benefits from it. Again, can you prove that it's "in most cases"?
This still won't push me for a day 1 buy.
I bought AC2 for $20 new and borrowed Brotherhood off a friend. I did play about halfway through it on 360 and then traded it in because it got a bit boring. Was really a good game though, one of the first current gen games I played.

I won't lie, I never finished the original AC because it really bored me halfway through, but it's still a pretty good package despite the fact that it's a pretty disappointing title.
